Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars no urban base in santa rosa.......2004-06-16

There's no urban base in Santa Rosa? Ever been there? Take your click to the market and get your Kengol handed to you. Oh yeah Marin City has "urban base". By urban, do you mean rich old white people? Oh you must mean the thugs from marin, like John Walker Lindh. If you ever leave the confines of your gated community I'm sure you'll find out its not actually all that tight to live in the ghetto. ...and who is that Lego Bloxxx you speak of? Never heard of em and you can't get the CD on the internet, so, get a recording contract or a distribution deal before you bash someone who does.

Zigidy's "53 Miles North of the Gate" is the same boring trash that he and the rest of 50/50 Records have been putting out. I'm sorry but nor Petaluma or Santa Rosa ("the rose town") have any urban base whatsoever. And to say the words "Zigidy" and "lyrically" in the same sentence is a tragedy in its own right. If anyone has heard the "F-Zigidy Mixtape" by bloxxx that is a piece you can call "lyrical". Zigidy got his rep handed back to him on a silver platter. I suggest you all forget about this album and try something new, like maybe making good music.

ok time 4 a real review. this sucka from pet-a-lama obviously hasnt even really listned 2 this album. zigidy aint even from petaluma, hes from the rose town. they are a "gang of thugs" do some research -valley oak- homie/ anyways, if u know u like zigidy, then get this album. if u havent heard of him, its really a breath of fresh air 4 rap. download some stuff or something for a sample, u wont b disappointed o yeah get this, he disses the shxt out of Smoov-e on his song frutie like a smoothie. he rips on him, damn i wonder if E will retaliate, cuz he lyrically got his azz handed to him, anyways, it got the rest of the 50-fit like the laya, rich, also coolio the undadogg on it. by the way, this site is stupid, this aint a zig solo, its a compilation. not a solo, collaboration or zigylation, but a compilation. peace

1 out of 5 stars 50/50 Records produces another lackluster.......2003-11-23

If you're looking for pure hip-hop with real lyricism and real beats, this album is not for you. Zigidy and 50/50 Records continue their imitation of gangster rappers that they see television and hear on the radio with their newest release, "53 Miles North of Tha Gate". The beats consist of keyboards and obvious digital drumming, which kills any possibly descent flow one of the "rappers" may have had going. The lyrical content is essentially the same song after song. Zigidy's either claiming to represent Santa Rosa (his hometown) as if it's the Bronx or he's talking about how he's "rollin on Dubs". 50/50 Records has a history of trying to act like they're a gang of innercity thugs, truth is they're based in Petaluma, CA, a small town with no urban base whatsoever. This facade they push vastly deteriorates any authenticness in their work including this album. If you're from the North Bay and want to hear some good local acts check out artists like Phatty Bloxxx, who represent real love not some lifestyle you've seen in a mob flick.
