Once again "Brooklyn the Planet" has spit out another Emcee that represents the soul of the original streets and attitude of the East. The name "Bekay" will be forever implanted into your memory once you experience the depth of emotion pouring out of this 23 year-old lyrical genius. He definitely has a unique style that gives the listener an insight into the reality of life in New York's largest borough.. Bekay has proven that his writing talent alone enables him to not just be "Bekay" but to indulge many different topics in his music.
These range from the club scene, to the streets, to even "role playing" and telling the life a young boy growing up in middle America through his eyes. His versatility and writing talents are impeccable and can not be denied. His story is one that hasnt been told yet in todays hip hop world. The view of a White Jewish kid in New Yorks largest borough BROOKLYN. Bekays only wish is to bring this unique view and story of a young kids journey growing up in Brooklyn to the people!!! Bekay made an appearance on BETS 106th and park battle around December of 2001.
As may be seen on video he has gained more than just acceptance as an emcee by the black community. This is hard to do for a white kid trying to get in to this game which he hasnt started but wishes to pursue. The predominantly black crowd cheered Bekays clever and witty punchlines as he embarrassed the previous champion who never saw it coming. Hip hop is constantly becoming more universal. I believe Bekay is a prime example of that.
Bekay competed for a spot on this falls airing of MTVs "Making the Band". The competition consisted of over 16,000 artists from seven of Americas largest cities. Needless to say Bekay made it through every round and down to the final 40 out of 16,000!!Due to a problem involving contractual obligations, Bekay decided to pass on the opportunity. He may still be seen on the initial tapings of the show as he was a staff favorite at MTV. Bekay has also participated in numerous emcee battles from Brooklyn to Albany verbally stomping over the competition that comes in his path. He has also done numerous shows in Manhattans well known hip hop club "SOBs", as well as "Pyramid" and "The Knitting Factory". He is in no way shy or amateur when it comes to stage performances.
Bekay is a producer well as an emcee. He has various artists who he works with who use his beats to do their own songs. Bekay has also been a DJ for approximately 7 years but has strayed away recently to concentrate on his lyrics and own songs. This white kid from Brooklyn is the definition of hiphop in every sense of its word!!! He is very passionate about this culture and only wishes to have a chance to let the world in on his story.
The combination of this young mans drive to succeed and broad talent in writing and delivering mind boggling lyrics WILL carry him to the top of this Hip Hop industry. With all the commercial and glitzy glamour of the music industry today, Bekay's only wish is to keep focused on the prize, but more importantly to stay true to the art form that has become a moving force in American culture. "Bekay" To put it simply: ""HIP-HOP IS INFECTED AND BEKAY'S ""THE ANTIDOTE"" . The future of Hip-Hop begins here.

Really about 3.5 Stars........2006-01-01
"Hip hop is killing me" stood out as a great track that details the thoughts of a struggling artist frustrated with a non-receptive industry. "alphebet assasin" also had a great concept too.
Production is decent for a release this underground, nothing spectacular but it doesn't distract from the music either.
I highly recommend this Cd, its a shame he's so slept on.
NOTE: I reserve 5 star reviews for classics, 3 stars is average for me.
