A great CD........2004-05-14

Hi, I'm not normally known for posting, but hey I got this CD with my girlfriend at the time, from Laura herself in Vancouver, how cool is that? and of course her dog helped =). The music is great and Laura seems very cool. I think you should give her a chance. You can't go wrong in buying this CD. Not too many other CDs deserve your cash like this one does.

This is a great CD!! Laura has a wonderful voice and the whole album makes you feel. I also met Laura briefly on the streets of Vancouver, BC. She is as real as her music. You need to buy this one!

beautiful, haunting music.......2002-03-17

For me the stand-out songs are definitely "Your Love" -- which features Doyle's exquisite haunting vocals, "Chasing Bees" -- which has a nice rollicking rhythm and gorgeous lyrics, "View of the Child" -- which is lovely, contemplative and sad, "All The Pretty Horses" -- which is the most aching lullaby-like tune you'll ever hear and "Last Exit to Surrey" -- which appears to be an autobiographical song about being strong in the face of the suicide of the singer's father. All is not doom and gloom on this CD, however. The tone is always surprisingly upbeat even when dealing with painful subject matter. Definitely worth checking out!

The album was prduced by Pat Sansone from The Autumn Defense. Much of the work was done in the summer in singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur's Manhattan studio, where Pat and Jenifer had the luxury of experimenting while Arthur was out on the road.

"It made the process so much fun because we weren't watching the clock," Jenifer reveals. "Not having time constraints really freed up our creativity. And it was air-conditioned."

You like Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye? Get this right now, you won't be disappointed. It's Jenifer Jackson's third album and it's as good as the previous two, even her more upbeat and uplifting. This great singer has the knack for making feel good, each listen is pure happiness. If you have an ear for melodies, you'll find your paradise as well - I haven't heard such subtle tunes that much, along with other great talents like Ron Sexsmith and Joe Pisapia - they should be famous!
Get her other records as well, heaven knows they are worth the purchase!

Aaron Broadus hits a homerun with "Feels Like The First Time." Finally, a CD that is full of music worth listening to from beginning to end. Anytime you want to feel a little better you can put this album in and listen. You can even here Deanna smile as she's singing.
How many times can the Grammies ignore a talent such as this. Don't you make the same mistake.

I love Deanna's voice -it's unlike any other and her music is incredible. There's nothing more enjoyable than listening to this CD at home over a glass of wine. It's the best cocktail party CD I've heard yet. No one can sing 1940s jazz like her...I thank her for bringing this music back for me to enjoy.

Excellent local (to Virginia) band. Definitely on their way somewhere.

The music is rather hard to define - a lot of styles are thrown into each song, with an in-your-face edge at times, laid back at others, and it all comes together into music that makes you want to move.

They do a really good job of capturing their live show (which is ALWAYS a GREAT time - if they come anywhere near you, see them) in this album. Favorites on this, I think, have to be "Used to Be" and "Lady Marie".
