Black Monolith label solo artist, Hella "Snoopy" Brown hails from out of the Dirty South. When he rhymes, Hella drops words about the real scene in his countrified South Carolina past, and the hard knock Atlanta street life. This 18-year old rapper explains that his words talk of the life that has made him "grow up real fast and that I think of myself as an older person ten years ahead because of how real it has been for me and what I came from."

Born and reared in Buford Island, South Carolina in the Gullah culture, a place while countrified and remote, had its own dealing scene going on. Hella’s family had to "trap" that is deal drugs out of mobile homes in the Miami to South Carolina trafficking runs for survival. After drug running from age of thirteen in the "hellified" world of small town gangs and dealing, Hella moved to Atlanta to focus on making it by producing with his own rhymes and beats. His biggest influences were Teddy Riley, and Hank Shocklee of Public Enemy whose hard driving beats inspired him to create his own.

He then hooked up with local crime and rhyme affiliate Money Marc. His day came sooner than expected when Money Marc introduced him to Black Monolith Records CEO Alfred "Don Laze" Ponder. Hella then joined forces with Ponder to produce HELLAFIED which includes the hot club banger, "When Them Playboyz Ride" featuring Pastor Troy and Duece Poppi. As Hella states "My debut album ‘HELLAFIED’ comes off like a street survival manual.

Hella is on a one-man crusade rebelling against the lame ‘Crunk’ style rampant now on the ATL scene. By creating a more laid-back smooth player style of rap, he is redefining the level of rap that will have heads bobbing from ATL to NYC. The mello keyboards and bass guitar riff provide the perfect soundscape for Hella to flow over.

Its too bad HFC and Charlie parted ways, he was the soul of the band. This record proves it, simply put, it kicks ass.

For anyone out there who has not had the experience of seeing HFC live you are missing out. The first show I went to was back in January and I have gone 5 times since then. Their shows are absolute nonstop from beginning to end. Every song on their album rocks! I can't wait for the next one. These guys are so talented and they really love what they do. Go pick up their album. You will thank me! Stay Hellafied!!!!!!

Read the editorial reviews above, they pretty much sum HFC up nicely. Funky bass, hardcore riffs, heavy hip-hop beats and wild scratchin' behind flowin' raps by a crew that puts on a helluva show. I dare you to try and find a tat shop within 50 miles of Dallas that doesn't jam this disc nonstop.

My fellow Dallasites, if you dig hardcore, support your local music and HFC by picking up this disc. Amazon's probably the best place to get it (about five bones cheaper than Bill's, shipping included). And anyone who digs this oughta scope Pimpadelic too--along with HFC they make up the backbone of Dallas hardcore.

My first live show a few years ago scared me. I was so drawn into it and pumped it actually scared me. The crowd really gets into it. And the more they do the more HFC gives em. Can You Funk is my favorite groove. Live is the best way to see em in full dress- horns and all but, if you cant then buy the album. And if you happen to come across one with the KFC/HFC cover buy it- you'll thank me.
