4 out of 5 stars This Is How We Do It In Philaphornia (Rating: 9 out of 10- -4.5 stars).......2006-12-29

I don't know why I waited until about two months ago to buy this CD. Maybe because a certain magazine gave him a 3 1/2 out of 5, so I thought this album wasn't going to be as good as I thought (I gotta stop trusting that magazine). Even though I heard most of the songs from this CD from the Music Choice Channel, I still slept on it (I don't know what I was thinking if "Smooth Sailin'" didn't influence me to buy this). I really didn't think about this album until I heard that Roscoe put out a new album and I heard that he almost died in a car accident a while back. This is actually a good album, believe it or not. As a younger brother of the more known Dogg Pound member Kurupt, I see where Roscoe get some of his influence from.

Many songs on here bang. Somehow , he managed to hook up with Organized Noice here in ATL to produce the single "Head To Toe" with Sleepy Brown. "It's That Time Again" with Letoya Williams is also great to listen to, and also has great production. I'd say the biggest highlight on this album is "Smooth Sallin'" produced by Deff Jeff. That song is awesome and is garanteed to have you hit the repeat button after one listen. "What I Look Like" and "Last Night" are other dope songs to listen to.

Lyrically, Young Roscoe has major room for improvement. Since he was about 18 or 19 when he recorded this, his lyrical skills haven't fully matured yet (although heck I wish I was rhyming as well as him when I was his age). Majority throughout this album, he talks about smoking, cars, and women. Not necessarly a bad thing, but I believe he could have expanded on a little more subject matter though. His lyrical skills are on point though. Also I believe the song "I Love Cali In The Summertime" (a song he recorded around 2001) should have been on here as well, since I seem to can't find that single anywhere.

I'm glad that I found this CD. It was heavliy slept on in 2003, possibly because of lack of promotion for it. This CD is great to listen to from beginning to the end. As I mentioned earlier, I really haven't heard too much from him since this album, but if he holds this momentum in his career as he has shown in this album, he might be known as a west coast vet, like his older brother. 5 out of 5 stars Roscoe is the s**t.......2005-06-22

I luv this album from this guy he is real and makes a great effort on his debut. Favorite song is Smooth Sailin great song its worth the money just for that song its so good. Get this album now quit monkeying around and buy it right now and support this guy. He will go far in the rap game and I think he better then his brother Kurupt. U will not be disspointed with this purchase get it now.

4 out of 5 stars Good Debut Album.......2004-11-17

For being a 20 year old (at the time) and in the shadow of a multi-platinum selling brother (Kurupt), Roscoe shows he is just as good as any lyricist in the game, including his older bro, Kurupt. He reminds me a lot of a young Kurupt on this album, blazing lyrics (I mean blazing!!!) and rapid fire delivery over some smooth funky beats. The album starts off real strong but gets kind of weak towards the end (with the exception of the last 2 tracks). The production is good on most of the songs, but a few of them suck and those songs are skippable. Overall there are 10 different producers doing the 13 songs so the sound changes from track to track. He also shines good due to the limited number of guest rappers. A must have for rap fans.

4 out of 5 stars Roscoe's got flow like Kurupt..........2004-10-08

Roscoe can flow almost as good as his brother, but the major flaw in this CD is the production, it has it's good and bad tracks, but it just overall needs someone better laying beats for his tracks. Just overall a good CD, that you can cruise to, bump to, or relax to. His next relaease should be better, he just needs some better production, and he can blow up. Stand out songs, 5 Seconds (Opening Track), and of coarse I Call Shots Remix (Closing Bonus Track)

5 out of 5 stars Only if there were six stars.......2004-04-07

Aight, lets face it, we all know that Roscoe can hold it down. He grew up learning from the best on the West. So all I can say is, "Is there a reason not to cop these album?" I couldn't think of one. Tracks like '5 Seconds' 'Get Ready' 'Smooth Sailin' 'Head To Toe' and 'Get Flipped' leave the album practically flawless. His heavy flow throughout the production is hard to match, and I personally don't believe that any new CD now and for sometime will have as many quality track as Philaphornia does. At 18 years of age Roscoe has made it perfectly clear that his brothers shoes are too small. Not to hate on Kurupt or anything, but Roscoe is the LeBron James of the rap game, period.
