5 out of 5 stars Please Explain To Me . . ........2007-04-26

Why is everybody and their mama eagerly awaiting the "next" release from Dr. Dre? If you want a fresh dose of that hot, West Coast "shiggety," then have no fear-- the G-Child is here.

It amazes me how folks continue to sleep on some of the more talented West Coast artists, while the mediocre freshmen (The Game) and super-seniors (Dr. Dre) receive the accolades. I promise you this-- while "In the Midnight Hour" may not be an indisputable "classic", it will definitely put you where you need to be while you continue to wait, and wait, and wait for Dre (and he wonders why they forget about him).

Truly made me a Warren G fan for life!

5 out of 5 stars Another dope CD from the west coast! (4.5 stars).......2006-02-17

About 13 or more years deep in the game, Warren G. comes back with his fifth LP "In the Mid-Nite Hour". Now I almost slept on this CD, because I was thinking that this CD wasn't going to make any noise. So out of no where I decided to get it, and listened to it. Once again my intuition has proven me wrong. Warren G.'s produciton skills and lyrics have improved. This isn't "Regulate: The G Funk Era", but he comes close to it. Lyrically, Warren proves to us that he still has the lyrics to hold himself up, only the fact that he has matured and doesn't run the streets as often has he did that much back in '93. Production wise is dope as hell. He's not Dr. Dre (even though they're half brothers), he's not DJ Quik, or any other west coast producer. He's Warren G., comming on this CD with some of the most unique beats that he can create.

Now on to the CD. There are a lot of tracks on this CD, so I'm only going to name a few that are stand outs:

5. I Need A Light- Slow song with the vocals curtosy of Nate Dogg

6. Get U Down- Nice production and lyrics. Features B Real and Side Effect

10. Preety Young Thing (PYT)- Features 213 (Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg. Another hot song

13. Turn It Up Loud- Another hot song featuring Bishop Lamont

Honorable Mention Tracks:

4. In Case Some Sh** Goes Down- Features Mike Jones (quite possibly the best I heard him spit), and Frank Lee White

8. Weed Song- Short song. About a minute and a half which features Frank Lee White over a dope ass west coast beat.

So what the reason why I deduct the half star? I believe some of the guest's verses could have been better. Snoop Dogg's verses could have been better. B-Real's verse is preety dope on the song "Get U Down". Mike Jones spit a hot verse on "In Case Some Sh** Goes Down" (unfortunately this verse is better than any on his own CD). Some people may not appriciate it that Warren has matured over the years going back to the days when he had close relations with Death Row Records and released a few luke warm CD's along the way, but this has proven him worthy of one of the best in the West Coast. Luckly this CD came out a while after The Game's CD came out so his spotlight in record sales were fading and people were checking out other CD's in the market (not saying his CD was bad or anything). We all know that this isn't "Regulate: G Funk Era" but he made damn sure to keep listeners up past the Mid-Nite Hour. Great Job.

4 out of 5 stars Best West Coast Music Since Dre's Chronic.......2006-01-28

Best west coast music since 'The Chronic'!!! Laid back 'gangsta sh*t', if you will. But more than that, it's evident that Warren's grown up alot. He's a grown man now looking at the streets, jewelry, and women from a new and more mature perspective. Always good to see an artist grow as a person AND as an artist. Much love 2 Warren 4 sharing his progress

5 out of 5 stars Warren returns!.......2006-01-16

Warren G marks his return with a solid album. It was so refreshing to see his CD on the market, and that he is still in the game. While nothing will top Regulate: The G Funk Era, Warren gives us a new album with a breath of fresh air that is so hard to find in the crowded rap game. Warren keeps it real and takes us back to the regulate days with his laid flow. Every track on here is worth listening to with maybe the exception of Garilla Pimpin' because Warren sounds alittle too dark on that track. My only real complaints are Warren doesn't appear on the last two tracks, atleast by voice, and Warren needs to do more mic work in general. He has alot of talent and he needs to show it, but I'll give him credit for allowing new talent to shine on his album. If your a fan of Warren's blessed productions then you should pick this up. Warren is a man of many talents, both as a producer and rapper, and I would gladly buy any new CD he plans on releasing in the future. Good work Warren G. Peace out children of G-Funk.
