I know Michael Haas, executive producer. He has made a total commitment to locating and recording work of musicians whose work was banned by the Hitler regime because composers, etc. were even suspected to be Jewish, gay, gypsy, etc. One atheist or agnostic composer was sent to concentration camp because his father had been a Jew in the past.

This is needed to give a picture of the survival of music by talented people under duress.

mostly produced by Mr Mixx (2 Live Crew), "Bass Balla" features some great Latin-tinged bass tracks, especially "Mariachi Twist", "Olé Olé" and of course "Ku Ku" (based on a track by la sonora dinamita). However, the other tracks aren't THAT cool, "Sancho Villa", "Jonny Z" as well as "Z1 N only" are better and more versatile; and the all-spanish version of "Bass Balla", "El Catrín", features all of the good tracks off of "Bass Balla" plus some songs not featured on "Bass Balla" - en español, naturalmente, with the exception of "Ku Ku" which is featured in both spanish and english on "Catrín".

It took me awhile to find this cd in the stores, but i finally got it..always liked jonny z since i heard "shake shake" back in the days...its well worth it, great music to bump in your ride for those late nite cruizin ... some of my favorite tracks: "ku ku"..a great song, nice girl in the background saying ku ku..tite track. "se me paro"..great beat "latin swing 2000"..one of my favorite songs from his earlier album! ..a remake, with a different beat...overall the album is worth getting..because of "ku ku"...KU KU!
