Customer Reviews:
Amazing Album--top to bottom.......2005-12-24
To say this album is political does not do justice to the album: it is beyond political and beyond hip hop. 'Slums' is a superior track that works multiple lyricists together at once like Wu Tang at the top of their game. This track will have everyone saying "ohhh yeah." The track 'Pirate' with lyrics by Priviledge has the best beat on the album. One of the amazing parts of the album is how the flows fit into the beats. Even when there are multiple voices and different flows, the beats accomodate the differences with ease. For example, the track 'Melody' switches the beat in order to accentuate the different lyricists on the track. This album is a great political hip hop album with lyrics that surpass all other political rappers. The spirit of Public Enemy, the streets of Dead Prez, and the brains of Immortal Technique all mixed together into an amazing collection of songs. At the same time, the production and the lyrics will make any underground head jive to the album. If you like Cannibal Ox, Wu Tang, Immortal Technique, Def Jux, Sadat X, Nonphixion, R.A. the Rugged Man, Brooklyn Academy, or J Live, you will love this album. It outdoes the entire scene. An amazing album for anyone that likes hard lyrics, banging production, and real hip hop. Here's my favorite lyrics from Billy Woods (the best MC in the world!!!) on the track 'Invasion':
"Things fall apart, we take the pieces and make art,
Edward Said, I took his thesis and made darts"
