4 out of 5 stars THROWBACK ALBUM.......2007-01-24

this is the type of album that you put on if you wanna throw it back a tad. personally, i feel that this is still the best one he did. maybe it is because i come from a different genration of HIP HOP. however, the beats are my type of beats, raw and hardcore!!!! it is not a classic, but for a boring day or for just throwing it back, this album is essential.

4 out of 5 stars Fat Joe - Represent.......2006-11-20

Hailing from the Bronx, Fat Joe enters the rap game with his debut album, "Represent" in 1993. From the same city in New York as other legends such as KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions, can Joe keep the city on top or will he fail at his first attempt at stardom?

Fat Joe releases a very solid album with his debut. Just a couple of points away from being nearly classic. The production is booming and goes along great with Joe's raw flow and lyrics. He definitely represented the Bronx great with this album. It has a very old school feel to it as well. Check it out if you're a fan of Fat Joe, Big Pun, Terror Squad, or New York hip-hop.

4 out of 5 stars I'm livin FAT yall...I'm livin FAT!!!.......2006-05-09

I really enjoyed this album. Its got that early 90's raw feel. (Heads know what I'm sayin.) Fat Joe's experimenting with his flow and sound. Overall, its a good listen to bump in your ride.

5 out of 5 stars This is grown folk hiphop.......2006-03-20

I will always appreciate the late 80's to the mid 90's hiphop era because I lived it hard. Being around when it was birthed had a great affect on me, I'm talking about break dancing, popp'n, suede pumas with fat laces, gigantic boom boxes and tight ass block parties. It keeps on going and evolving but I rather stay around and reflect on those days wit my peoples. Diamond D, kool G Rap, rakim, and fat joe paved another road for hiphop's legacy, so if anyone says that fat joe albums are garbage, that's okay because to me, Represent is a classic to keep my collection of classic hiphop classic. enjoy the history before it's wiped out because gems are hard to find.

2 out of 5 stars This is not a classic.......2005-11-09

The word classic seems to get thrown around quit a bit. Just because a album is more than 10 years old, doesn't make it a classic. ClasSH*T fits this album more accurately. This is when Joe was at his worst(lyrically). His flow was the weakest on all the collabos. The beats was pretty hot for the most part. My fav tracks is Watch the sound; feat. Grand Puba & Diamond D. You must be out your f*ckin' mind; feat. Apache & Kool G.Rap. G. Rap verses is always vicious and on this track he kills it(thats why this album gets a 2). This version of sh*t is real is the weakest of the mixes. I don't know where Beatnuts got that beat from, DJ premier version was much better. If you new to Joe skip this. If you lookin' for old skool CLASSIC east coast s*it. Cop these;
Rakim; Let the Rhythm hit'em'
BDP; Criminal Minded & Blueprint
Nas; Illmatic
Public Enemy; It takes a Nation of Millions to hold us Back, Fear of a Black Planet
Onyx;Bacdufukup
Wu tang; 36 chambers

Produced in conjunction with the 'Empires of Mystery' Cultural exhibition, this CD represents an exotic, mystical journey through the Andes. These songs are timeless and beautiful and begin with birdsong and the whistle of the wind in the trees...

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Haunting_Beauty.......2005-02-08

Andean Music is, to the American Apple-Pie rock-N-roll ear, an awakening. Much of it is played on what seems to be a guitar with a special sound--except that it is the Charango---and the Charanguista(s) on this album are highly talented. Our familiarity with guitar solos draws us to this alternative "guitar"--and opens us up to a whole new musical world.

No Andean music is complete without the Zamponia and the Kena---pan-pipe and end-blown flute respectively--and there is some superb playing on this album. These istruments, in my opinion, when well played, rival the expression of the best wooden flutes of Europe.

And a bonus is the fiddle playing and singing--so that while not a comprehensive anthology of traditional Andean sound, it is a cross-section which, at the bargain CD price, makes it an absolute must-have.

4 out of 5 stars Modern Meets Ancient.......2004-11-17

Not a true representation of Peru's many musical styles, perhaps; but a beautiful recording by a very talented group of musicians, with touches of the modern meeting the ancient - especially noticeable in the lovely song 'Mi Cambio' composed by Cesar Villalobos.

This is feel good blues that will make you want to move

4 out of 5 stars that represent man.......2005-08-23

Got some good ones and some better. Not outstanding, but I'd definately add this one to your collection

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Blues!.......2005-03-07

"That Represent Man" is simply one of the best blues recordings I have ever heard! This is the blues as it's ment to be heard, The Mannish Boys have poured their heart and soul into this recording and it is an experience that should not be missed!

The Mannish Boys is an "All-Star" cast of mastered bluesmen who have each mastered his own craft, and I have heard others describe this CD as "West Coast Blues" I beg to differ this is a mix of the best the Delta and Chicago blues have to offer. This band may be assembled from the best of the West Coast crop but I believe these guys are the best blues band in Americia today.

Some of the material on this disc includes Jimmy Anderson's "Going Crazy Over T.V.", Lazy Lester's "I'm A Lover Not A Fighter" both which featuring some fine harp playing by Randy Chortkoff, other covers of Smokey Smothers' "Come On Rock Little Girl", Freddie King's lesser known classic "It's Too Bad" and a couple of B.B. King covers, one in "Partin' Time'" which guitaris Kirk Fletcher really nails, and Johnny Watson's "The Eagle Is Back" is da bomb! There are seventeen tracks on this disc and not one will let you down. I have to be honest and let you know that I kept this CD in my player for two weeks straight, what a joy this is to listen too.

This stuff is too good, lets hope this just isn't a one time project I already want more Mannish Boys!

    5 out of 5 stars cmw 4 life.......2002-03-25

Well unlike the other reviewer this cd is tight, the beats were tight keep in mind that when cmw came out back in the day the beats were different, and rap music came a long way from james brown-pfunk samples. the beats are still ghetto and hardcore and it's still eiht saying geeah, so i see no problem with i. this is for mc eiht fans really cauise we only heard chill on the first cd anyway, If you feeling this pick up eiht's tha8t'z gangsta for more of that compton thang.

4 out of 5 stars GOOD but not enough.......2001-03-20

I have to disagree with the guy above, although i am a massive CMW fan, this album compared with their previous joints was quite a let down, i mean it is still woth buying but it does not stand up against music to drive by or any other of thier older albums. A few tracks were taken off mc eihts "n my neighbourhood" album and put straight on here, which is also annoying. In case you didnt notice the cover is remnisent of another group from compton (NWA) but the album is not quite so ground breaking. Unless you are a hardcore CMW fan you would be better off getting the greatest hits album "1989-99 when we wuz bangin"

    5 out of 5 stars the bomb.......2000-11-22

this cmw album is the best to date. i like how the guy's came back together after seven years .i have been following cmw since there first album It's a compton thang eiht bam and chill are the bomb Dj slip's production is like he never left it's the same old school flavor that a lot of atrist don't generate these days i would advise all real hardcore hip hop fans who like scarface master p three six mafia snoop dogg etc. to pick up this hot new release from cmw it's all good "REPRESENT"s the S--t

4 out of 5 stars CATCHY LITTLE ALBUM..........2005-01-29

I was really surprised at how much I actually liked this album, because I just thought she was a Britney knock-off when I first heard of her.
Turned out she is really very much more talented than Mrs. Federline and I for one, am sad that she didn't get a good pop career going. Truth is I bought the album for one song I heard over at a friend's house and I found it on Amazon for a $1 at the Marketplace, but I would have, after giving it an entire listen, paid full price. If you like pop music, I recommend this and am sure it will become your guilty pleasure. The title track is pretty catchy and the ballad "Stay" is a weeper!

      5 out of 5 stars Awesome Album!.......2004-09-30

The CD is awesome... The artist has an amazing voice! Tonya doesn't overdo her vocals and annoy your ears with riffs. She keeps things simple yet delightful cuz this girl has such an amazing sound. The songs are all catchy and cute... It's a smooth CD by a great vocalist... I'd recommend it to all music lovers!

5 out of 5 stars Very good album. A must have for pop music fans.......2004-06-09

I had no idea who Tonya Mitchell was but I heard this album once and that was all it took for me to hunt it down. Amazing smooth vocals, awesome lyrics. Great songs to dance, cry or even chill out too. It's also very easy to relate to the songs, it's like she sees inside your heart. A must buy! 5 star album all the way. She's amazing!

      5 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!.......2004-03-20

This is a great CD. I've never heard a CD that I can relate to more than this one. It's got a song for whatever mood I'm in. It's a great CD to listen to at home or in the car. I like listening to it while working on my computer. It's a great all-around CD. I wish that she had more CDs to listen too.

4 out of 5 stars Great debut but......................2004-02-28

1.-I Represent-10/10-Pop,you know catchy from beggining to end.Very good effects and a fantastic tune!I love the chrous
      2.-Broken Promises-9/10 First Single.A good pop song with a catchy chrous...i love the bridge,but "I Represent"is a definately better track for a first single
3.-Stay-10/10 Great Ballad.I love it,she sound soo sensual and sweet. The lyrics are very well writen.
4.-You're The One I Want-10/10 Summer song, with amazing beats catchy verses and chrous. Its funny. Is a perfect song to film for a videoclip
5.-A Place Like This-6/10-Another Ballad. Is ok,but faaaar way for "Stay"
6.-Wasted Breath-10/10-RB song or uptempo-ballad song with AMAZING LYRICS!!Tune chrous and very well sang.I can really relate to it.Best track on the album
7.-A Little Too Late-6/10-Another Ballad,a little worst than "APLT"
8.-I Don't Wanna Fall In Love-8/10 Yes,Another Ballad, hehe, but this is better than the other two.It has a better chrous and Tonya sings it with much more emotion
9.-I Wanna Be The Only One-9/10 Finally another semi-uptempo song.Is catchy and it has a great tune too.
10.-Turn Around-5/10-Another ballad,is just Ok to listen to
11.-I Cry Real Tears-6/10-ANOTHERRRR BALLAD...no more to say
      12.-Should I Stay-7/10-ANOTHERRRR BALLADDDDD!!hehe is a joke.Is an upbeat song,is ok,but not the best on the album

You know this album would be better with less ballads.I love slow songs, but the most of slow songs on this album sounds the same and don't express nothing new, except for "Stay"

        Product Description

This CD & hardbound book combination is a wonderful view into the historic Russian Orthodox faith for the English speaker, the thesis of which builds off the Eastern understanding that an icon represents an invisible spiritual reality, the Church on earth is an icon of the heavenly church and that liturgical chant is an Icon (or image) of the angelic singing. These then, are in "divine harmon" as to how they work together to engage the faithful in the ascent to heaven. The CD is comprised of selections from the series of recordings by Anatoly Grindenko and the Russian Patriarchate Choir, and one portion of the book includes an essay by Anatoly Grindenko, and liner notes and complete hymn text in English. The other portion of the book is written by Russian iconographer Adolf Ovchinnikov, and explains the history and development of icons and their use in the Christian faith. It is comprised of a series of essays that have been translated into English, with copious! full-color icons representing ancient to recent icons, many previously unpublished (from St. Catherine's Monastery in Sinai, The Hermitage, the Byzantine Museum in Athens, and others). Book is 62 pages in length
