Customer Reviews:
Here is a review from 304live.......2003-01-26
Starting out with a skit intro it jumps right into the albums title track, "Left Lane Living". Kenny spit a verse over a simple but very effective beat that lets everyone get to know the ways of The Unforgiven. This song is one of the best on the CD, good beat and the lyrics are on point. Not only does he come street on the CD but he has a definite club banga for the ladies "Shake it up". With tight production provided by Mr. Mike, who handles the majority of the production on the CD, and a chorus that tells all the women what to do with their backsides, it definitely does it's job of getting women on the dance floor.
While not a perfect CD "Left Lane Living" has more hits than misses. "Back of the Club" ft Charlie "Chili" Crawford singing a hot ...hook, "It's All Raw", and "West Villa" ft the Great Onez , who give maybe the strongest guest appearance on the CD, let everyone know that WV ain't nothing to be slept on. While the CD is not full of guest appearances several of the mc's featured on songs in my opinion should have been left on the cutting room floor. In "Real Thugs Anthem" the over abundance of nondescript mc's keep this song from realizing its full potential. Featuring a crunk Lil Jon-ish beat I kept wanting the song to just finally take it over the edge but some of the mc's just couldn't keep up their end of the bargain.
For those of you wondering if Kenny can come lyrical your gonna be very suprised after listening to "The Crossroads". Telling a story of his trip to purgatory, an afterlife not of hell or heaven, you will realize that he can and does come with some original topics in original ways. This song also features one of the hottest beats on the CD, supplied by Bald Head Fred Davis and the great use of a vocal sample that was part of a song that has previously been sampled by Mariah Carey.
I'd have to say this CD is a 7.5/10 CD, it features a little bit of everything. Coming with some straight up hip hop, down south, deep lyrics, party music and street songs, so whatever your taste is it's got something for you. Buy the CD and enjoy some down home WV grilled to perfection hip hop.
