5 out of 5 stars this cd is tight .......2007-01-16

well this cd is tight cause i like the beat and a tribe called quest they are the best and the whole cd sounds great and the beats are tight

    5 out of 5 stars I still give it 5 .......2005-12-03

Because there is a remix to Lyrics to go that is unbelieveable and the other songs I've already heard and liked so I still give it 5 stars (Classics are Classics even if they are on another album) anyway get this if you are a true Tribe fan like me!

    4 out of 5 stars THE TRIBE.......2005-06-20

I really liked this particular group which in terms I am really not a rap fan but I loved Tribe Called Quest. They had nice beats you can flow to especially in the club and with Q-tip rhymes to add to the beats just made the music perfect. The didnt get a chance at the music industry either.

    4 out of 5 stars I great teaser from a great group.......2003-08-11

I really a agree with rob from AZ. If you can get the all 4 of the groups cd's get them ,i cant think of a bad tribe song.
If you are new to the tribe get this cd and you will be hooked for life and upset that they broke up.

    3 out of 5 stars Tribe.......2003-07-25

This cd should only be for diehard tribe fans for the few unreleased tracks and remixes.
Any fan who has never gotten into ATQ should pick up anthology, as it features more of their better songs. Its sort of a teaser tho, because Peoples instinctive travels, low end theory, and midnight marauders are all perfect albums. If you have the money buy all three of those. Even anthology doesnt have enuff room to cover all of their songs. They would need atleast 3 discs to cover the greatness ATQ has made. Those 3 albums are simply the some of the best hip hop albums ever made. Instead of forkin out 15 bucks for a greatest hits album, look for their first 3 at reasonable prices, because one tribe cd would just be cheating yourself

This isn't anything new but what they with the song felt like you were with them recording the songs. All very raw and I like it.

    5 out of 5 stars Superb! A Must have!.......2007-03-09

    Wonderful songs. Improved recording.
Amazing electric guitar work by Jeff Wattson and Brad.

    3 out of 5 stars Night Ranger....with a 21st-century flavor.......2006-09-13

Ever wonder what Night Ranger's best songs would sound like if they were written today with today's technology.

    Well..here's your chance...

Night Ranger's "Hits, Acoustic and Rarities" does contain the hits that we all grew up enjoying in the 80s, except they are not the hits we know.

    Huh?

The hits were re-recorded in the studio with today's technology and they sound a bit different. They are not bad but they don't have that sound that made them great in the 80s.

The songs that came over pretty well (in my opinion) were:
    - You Can Still (Rock In America)
    - Don't Tell Me You Love Me
    - Sister Christian
    - When You Close Your Eyes

The other 5 that were re-recorded are OK but nothing spectacular. And the remaining 2 are an acoustic version of "Sister Christian" and a live version of "Don't Tell Me You Love Me". It would have been preferable to have these 2 tracks replaced by possibly 2 new releases and thus have the album simply called "Hits".

Ultimately, if you're a Night Ranger fan, the album is worth picking up, simply for the 4 good recordings. If you're not a fan but want to learn what Night Ranger is all about, avoid this and pick up "Night Ranger's Greatest Hits" which includes the original recordings of these songs as well as some of their other hits, like "The Secret Of My Success", among others.

Hoepfully, the band will release a true "hits and rarities" set in the near future that will encompass their entire body of work.

5 out of 5 stars people knock everything.......2006-04-25

This CD is fantastic. I can't believe how the other reviewers have put this down. Can't please some people with a new hangin' rope. The songs here are redone with more attention payed to the production than the original. They sound a little differant, but in a good way. These songs have never sounded better. You'll swear you're back in the '80's again because they're not the old stale versions you've heard a million times.

    5 out of 5 stars Greatest Hits Re-Recorded - And Very Well.......2006-04-13

I came across this CD while doing some mindless surfing, and I listened to it on my online music service. I must say that this is a very good collection of reworked tunes. A couple of other reviewers (Mitch & William Smith) got it right - these are faithful renditions recorded with the benefits of modern technology. I listened to a few originals back to back with the versions on this CD, and the new ones just jumped from my headphones with more power & clarity. Jack's & Kelly's voices are fine - they've aged some, but they're still very good. I listened for the "chipmunk" effect Mitch mentioned, but my ears didn't catch it, although some of the high notes in "Sister Christian" were more pinched than on the original. I liked the subtle nuances in these versions too - we've all aged 20+ years since these tunes first appeared, and I think that maturity is reflected here.

For the casual fan, you might prefer this version over the other GH versions because of the improved recording quality. These songs sound darn good. For everyone else, it doesn't really offer anything new, but it will sound better on your stereo than the originals.

    Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars "This Time Tomorrow" you can own a cool piece of the 60's!.......2007-06-02

As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" I am often asked to write or discuss recordings from the 60's and 70's.

The Move to those that know their music was one of the most underrated bands to come out of the 60's rock scene. Their genius worked against them as far as the masses were concerned. They were too esoteric for many. This should been another reason to appreciate their ability and not attempt to sweep them under the shag carpet.

Jeff Lynne, Bev Bevan, and Roy Wood would go on to great success with the Electric Light Orchestra but back in another galaxy there were great songs of psychedelia, pop, and a bit of rock that rolls titled "Blackberry Way", "Flowers In The Rain", and "Fire Brigade."

If you haven't checked out The Move in years or are finally taking the plunge (Good move) you must let the creative nature of the group grow on you. Listen to the complete recordings straight through without any superfluous background distractions. If the first listening did not make you a believer that is okay, this is common to many. Don't file the music away. Keep it playing and you will notice each time you hear one of their tunes they seem to get better and better. The brilliance was there all along but it takes us humans awhile to adapt to the better things.

The sound quality is fine. Part of the charm of the 60's music and early 70's is the recordings have a sense of warmth and honesty and not a computer deciding how a mix should be presented. Your ears will enjoy this release!

    Be well always,
    Craig Fenton
Author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent"

5 out of 5 stars Sound quality is wonderful, actually.......2004-10-02

Don't listen to the guy who said the sound quality of this is aweful. The sound quality is actually a little better than the Omnibus collection, but that's beside the point.

This is a great collection. So is the Movements box set...

    1 out of 5 stars Hits & Rarities ?Singles A's & B's.......2003-02-20

Terrible sound quality! I have most of these songs in other CDs and there is a discernable negative difference in the quality of this CD. If you want to buy a good Move Album buy "Shazam" other wise buyer beware!

5 out of 5 stars if you find it, buy it!.......2000-05-04

Not to be confused with the British OMNIBUS: SINGLES As & Bs which only contains material up to '69 (when The Move changed labels), this is a career spanning best of which will delight and surprise many 60s pop/rock fans. Surprise? Yes - it's taken me till 2000 to check out The Move's records and I've been buying 60s music since 1972. They should be up there with The Kinks, The Small Faces, The Hollies and even, possibly, The Who (with whom they have many stylistic similarities) as the greatest of The Beatles' rivals.

In fact, don't buy this at all. One listen to the likes of "Fire Brigade", "Lemon Tree", "Curly", "Hello Susie", "Tonight" or "Do Ya?" and you'll want the entire catalogue:

    1) THE MOVE - German import with bonus tracks

    2) SHAZAM! - as above

    3) LOOKING ON - as above

    4) GREAT MOVE! - re-issue of MESSAGE FROM THE COUNTRY with bonus tracks

Or substitute the MOVEMENTS box set for 1, 2 & 3.

This band, and especially chief songwriter Roy Wood, should be world famous. Attention all Beatles/Who/Small Faces/Kinks/Byrds/Love fans! BUY CDs BY THE MOVE NOW!

I applaud the effort to make available these recordings by the Raelettes but sometimes it it better to leave things undone. It is a fact that many cd's are transcribed from phonograph records and I have a lot of them but if a company or person is going to sell these cd's to the public, then they should make an effort to clean up the recordings using one of today's computerized digital processing programs to eliminate clicks, pops and other distortions. Titanic records did not do this and the result is a bad sounding product. (with the exception of the first 10 or 11 tracks transcribed from a decent sounding LP.)I paid about 16 dollars for this cd and it's not worth it.

          Customer Reviews:

          4 out of 5 stars pure nostalgia!.......2005-09-07

the last 6 tracks on their own form a mini-album!
the rest is true greatest hits collection - my only complaint being the edited version of "december", cutting short the soaring guitar solo! "drowning" - when i first heard this song, it caught my breath, i couldn't believe how good it was!
the alternative versions of "flowers in our hair" & "the dreamer" were a pleasant surprise.
"the mystery we are, languishing on the ocean floor" - (undiscovered treasures).

          3 out of 5 stars A Fitting Coda.......2005-01-26

For those (like me) who have All About Eve's 1988 eponymous debut and their 1989 follow up "Scarlett And Other Stories," this collection initially holds little appeal since half of it is comprised of songs culled from those two albums. However, the 10 "new" tracks make an album-worthy statement all on their own. Two of the songs, "Drowning" and "Strangeway" rank among the band's best material. It makes a fitting coda to the talented ensemble's all-too brief career.
