It's no surprise that More Music from 8 Mile is a great soundtrack collection. Eminem's semi-autobiographical big-screen debut takes place in the mid-1990s, a time when a considerably diverse group of MCs kept rap fresh with intellectually engaging party music. These jams rocked the party back when Em's Detroit hip-hop scene was nothing more than a basement cipher circle. A lot's changed since then, but every single selection on More Music withstands the test of time. The intro to Mobb Deep's thug anthem, "Shook Ones Part II," still sends chills down the spine, and Biggie's opening verse on "Get Money" proves why he may be the greatest rapper of all time. One minor quibble: it would've been nice if some of the more obvious tracks were substituted by less popular tunes--say, Outkast's "Crumblin' Erb" for "Player's Ball" and Pharcyde's "Soul Flower" remix (never released as a single) instead of their 1995 hit, "Runnin." --Rebecca Levine

excellant cd,great songs all very good but when eminem talks to alex, outside the chin tiki whilst sitting on a car what music is in the background?i really need to know so if ne1 cud help thanx

Some great 90's rap.......2006-05-16

In the early to mid 90's while I was still in the single digits I was heavy into rap & r&b and this album is a great throwback to the music scene I was into. Sporting some great rap anthums by the likes of BIG, Tupac & Naughty by Nature, this 'more music from' album really delivers the goods. The music featured here are all tracks that here hot back in the day, the time period this film hails from. This is the best of the 90'd rap scene including opening and closing tracks by Mobb Deep and some classic tracks by Method Man (the greatest rapper alive) and the rest of Wu Tang including ODB. My inly regret is that there aren't more tracks...and as was stated by other reveiwers, there are about 6 key tracks played in the film that are not here...but then again, licensing is so crazy that getting the rights to use certain tracks can be downright impossible at times. Even though, this is still one classic album and a must own for any fan of the hip-hop genre.

The Real Soundtrack From 8 Mile.......2006-01-05

This CD contains all the actual tracks off of the movie. This one contains all the classic rap from the year 8 Mile takes place, 1995. Includes "Shook Ones" by Mobb Deep, "C.R.E.A.M." by Wu Tang Clan, and "Feel Me Flow" by Naughty By Nature. This soundtrack is better than the original. Even with the exception of Eminem not being on here who happens to be my favorite rapper. But this soundtrack is awesome. Buy it if you enjoyed the movie. There's a big problem though, 9 tracks are missing (The other 6 are in the kids review):

So, if you want EVERYTHING you'll have to download it like I did (sorry!). I loved the movie and wanted all the music from the movie. I was wondering how come all of it wasn't on the original soundtrack. But now I see why, to make another soundtrack that's even better. Once again, if you loved the music from the movie, buy this now. Btw, the reason I didn't download it until now is because one of my friends said it wasn't as good as the original. He needs to get his ears checked, because this album blows the orginal out of the water. Don't get me wrong, the orginal is awesome, but this one is superior.

Btw, if you didn't notice, I'm rating the movie soundtrack, NOT the CD. The CD gets about 3 stars due to all the removed tracks.

Hip Hop Greatest Hits or 8mile Soundtrack?.......2006-01-05

This CD contains all the classic hip hop songs.. To put it bluntly, its IMPOSSIBLE to be disappointed with this CD. They got Shook Ones pt.II (in my opinion, the greatest dark rap song ever) and Survival of the Fittest from the Mobb. Juicy From Biggie,C.R.E.A.M from the Wu, Runnin from Pharcyde, and many others. EVERY track on this CD is 10+ in my book. All they needed on this CD was Onyx - Last Dayz and it would have been complete, but I'm not complainin, its still amazing.

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.......2005-11-16

This is the real soundtrack to 8 Mile. The first one they released has good songs, dont get me wrong, but with the exception of "Lose Yourself" and a little remix of "8 Mile Road" theyre not from the movie. This should have been released as the soundtrack. But anyways this album is sick. I would like those songs from the battles but its all good. From Biggie to Pac to Meth to Ol Dirty to Outkast. And let's not forget the unforgettable opening track, "Shook Ones Pt. II." Man this cd is great. I wish I was older in 1995.
