When the late Tupac popularized the "thug" concept to describe his boisterous lifestyle, he couldn't have seen Trick coming. All of Miami-based Trick Daddy's albums (Thugs Are Us, Book of Thugs, www.thug.com) abuse this concept, and no one knows exactly why. On his fifth studio album, Trick flips more 'hood-centric, autobiographical rhymes on "Money & Drugs" and "Ain't No Santa," skillfully charting his rise from rags to, er, bitches. Sonically, this is Trick's most diverse album to date. While there are no clear-cut anthems like "I'm a Thug," "In da Wind" comes the closest, with progressive Atlanta rhyme-spitters Cee-Lo and Outkast's Big Boi guesting. Heck, even legendary soul singer Betty Wright's Children's Choir drops by to add some gospel flavor to "God's Been Good." While a large bulk of the collaborations add very little to the mix (Infa Red of Unda Presha and Tre+6's contributions are quite underwhelming), "Gangsta," featuring a rejuvenated Scarface, will win over those unfamiliar with Trick's hardcore street-poetry appeal. --Dalton Higgins

4 out of 5 stars Another TDD Classic!.......2007-01-12

This is one of the better TDD CD's I've heard. My boyfried is a HUGE fan and got me hooked onto this music. Now, I am a HUGE TDD fan myself. Thug Holiday includes some definite TDD Classics and is sure to please any Southern Rap fan. It is not for the faint at heart, so buyer beware. It is, however, a great CD with wonderful topics discussed and great songs to thump.

4 out of 5 stars correction.......2005-02-08

kitajima and lilking

just a correction i wanted to point out. "i'm a thug" was on "thugs r us" not this one. and trick daddy is from miami, not atlanta. peace

5 out of 5 stars A great rap album........2004-10-17

I like this CD, Ive had it for over a year now, and i listen to it all the time. The best songs are all i need, dro in da wind, aint no santa, money and drugs, and play no games. This is a good CD, and i will definetly get his next one that is comng out soon.

4 out of 5 stars Nice..........2004-07-12

I've always been a supporter of Trick Daddy even though I don't buy alot of his records. I think besides Outkast he's the most unique in the South right now. On the title track, TD talks politics and as you can see in the video, he talks about 2Pac and Biggie's beef when he says("oh no there's more, yeah two world wars"). I didn't know he was talking bout the East/West beef when I first heard it but after I saw the video I realized he was. Another favorite of mine is "Rain It Pours", a good hood song. The party tracks are a good listen to. "In Da Wind", "I'm A Thug", and "Play No Games" are all tight songs, but one of my favorites is "Ain't No Santa". The reason I gave this album a four is cuz there is a little filler on this. But if you skip past those songs, you get a good hood album and one of Trick's best.

4 out of 5 stars TRICK DADDY'S BEST ALBUM SINCE ''BASED ON A TRUE STORY''.......2004-06-02

THIS IS TRICK'S BEST CD SINCE ''BASED ON A TRUE STORY''. ON THIS ALBUM, TRICK DOES SOME OF THE BEST TRACKS HE'S DONE IN YEARS. THE BEST TRAKCS ARE ''ROCK N ROLL N***A'', ''IN DA WIND'' [THE REMIX], ''GANGSTA'', AND ''MONEY & DRUGS''. ASIDE FROM ''BASED ON A TRUE STORY'', THIS IS THE TRICK DADDY CD YOU HAVE TO OWN.
