4 out of 5 stars Shake ya booty.......2004-12-19

I dont have to much booty shakin music. If I have one you know its good. THis is a great mix of booty shaking and r&b music. THats why this is better than the first vol.1 cd, its more versitle.THe first cd was pretty much booty music. I prefer the r&b songs they are unique, very cool sounding. They are tracks 3,4,5,7,8,. See how what atlanta had to offer before the crunk.

4 out of 5 stars are you crazy!?.......2003-02-27

Referring to the last review which said that the first Bass All-Stars had only one good song...are you CRAAAZY!? The first one was the BEST. "My Boo" by Ghosttown DJ's "killed" booty-shake. They just tried to recreate that hit with volumes 2 & 3. The first one was actual TRUE Booty-Shake!! I'm from Atlanta, I know better. Booty is RAP, not R&B!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Bass Monsters! "So So" beats mainstream R&B!.......2002-08-26

This is the second collection of bass filled tracks that came out in 1997 by the "So So Def" label, which curiously is owned by Jermaine Dupri yet doesn't feature his trademark sound very much. Also noteworthy, this collection doesn't feature tracks by superstars that were (and still are) on the label like the Da Bart or Jagged Edge. This is collection is something fresh and fun. It features some of the funkiest booty bass music out there by rap stars like the raunchy Luke on "So So Def Quad" and Zae on the bouncy "Booty Time". While freestyle rap with big bass is all over the set, R&B singers like Virgo (who sings sweetly on two seductive street jams) really get this disc into overdrive. Inoj's cover of "Love You Down", with its swaying dance beat still gets a ton of radioplay. Unfortunately, the first single by Corina, which was a more upbeat version of "Summertime, Summertime", was not so lucky and only a limited shelf life. Gucci Crew II shines on the old schoolish "Sally (That Girl)".

There is no denying that the hit singles that these sets yielded are impressive. "Volume 2" also includes a somewhat lagging remix of the infectious R&B smash "My Boo" by Ghostown DJs. While "So So Def" doesn't break much from the classic art of "Booty Bass" or whatever you would like to call this urban mix of bass filled music but it is an excellent listen with some very talented people. Not a lot of collection from a label can claim creating big hits like "So So Def Bass All Stars" but I would have liked this type of music with these artists to have been all over the radio. I miss Luke (who was a big part of 2 Live Crew and has successful independent records) and wish that Corina would have another hit (this is the same Corina that had the freestyle hit "Temptation" in 1991). This set of songs is amazing, blazing and just so so def! For fans of R&B wanting something a little bit out of the ordinary that is as funky as you can get, buy this collection. My only complaint is that the original slower version of "My Boo" is better than the remix on this disc. Other than that, this one is a booty shaker!

4 out of 5 stars Tight mix.......2001-04-28

This is a nice mix of booty-shaking bass hip hop and R&B. My favorite song on here is INOJ's remake of Ready For The World's "Love You Down". The other songs I like on here are Sally(That Girl), Summertime Summertime, My Boo, and Booty Time. This is a good booty mix, so check it out today!

4 out of 5 stars This album has tons of BaSS!.......1999-01-18

It has tons of bass and my favorite bass song "Love You Down" by INOJ is on here. If you don't have this album, get it. I also recommend, Janet Jackson's "The Velvet Rope".

3 out of 5 stars worth the money.......2005-03-01

Some good tracks on the CD to help get a party crunk. Will take you back to the days.

2 out of 5 stars booty music.......2004-12-19

This cd is ok. My boo is a great song that is why I got this.It was the smash hit of 96. Brings back memories of my freshman highschool year. The rest of the cd get irritating after awhile. It sounds so outdated now.I must admit that this was the best ATL had to offer at the time.By the way baby d and lil jon make the prefame cameos in this. Save your money for vol.2 which is a way better than this.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Mix of Club Classics.......2004-04-27

Down in the A before crunk completely took over we had the So So Def Bass All Stars. Songs off their albums would rock until a completely new one came out. THe So So Def Bass All Stars is where some groups and big names of today got their start (Ying Yang Twins, Lil John & Eastside Boyz etc.). The beats were very smooth on this album and straight rode out. R&B songs set to fast paced beats with occasionally some rapping. These songs with incredible chants are easily recognized by folks from the South and even some outside the South. THe songs are straight booty shakin/ freaknik type stuff. Songs such as Thyou (Thigh) (Oooh Lawd she's got that Thyou, that Thyou), or What's Up What's Up with that chant for the chorus, these songs were instantly enjoyable. Or Kootchie Kuters (Look At Dem Girls That Got them Kootchie Kuters on) which became an instant classic or the chilled out Let It Burn. Whichever song, that joint was bumpin and through this point in JD's career he was considered a genius. The magnum opus of this album, however, was My Boo by the Ghost Town DJ's. That was undeniably the southern anthem for 96 as far as the parties were concerned. Everyone in the South knows that song by heart. It's popularity rivaled that of Get Low in 2003. INcredible beat and lyrics. The first So So Def album is a must have for any fan of Southern music. 5 stars.

4 out of 5 stars A truly good time..........2003-06-24

truly great album. got drunk and danced to it so many times in college i can't even remember.

ok seriously, when you have choruses, like "...look at dem kootchie kuterz!" or memorable lines like "What'z up What's zup, What's up What'z up What's up {hey!}", you can't go wrong. A good time will be had by all who are blessed enough to listen to this cd.

4 out of 5 stars GOOD BASS.......2000-08-09

5 out of 5 stars Still love it!.......2007-05-14

I purchased this CD back in 1998 when it was first released, but someone at a party (probably some girl) stole it. I have actually been waiting to find it available somewhere, but most stores don't carry it anymore. Finally, I found it available at Amazon and bought it again. The CD is still hot. If you liked the 2nd installment of this series of releases, the 3rd one (THIS CD) is even better. At last, my trilogy is complete again.

4 out of 5 stars You Could Grind to this CD all night long!.......1999-10-04

This new album is phat, all of the songs produced major bass! There is such a variety of songs you can listen to them no matter what mood your in! Especially if your in the mood to grind!

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.......1999-10-02

EXCELLENT SONGS TO GET STUCK IN YOUR HEAD!!! ESPECIALLY "BOUNCE AROUND"!!! MY OTHER FAVORITES ARE "TIME AFTER TIME", "SIX EIGHT", AND "WHEN WILL I SEE YOU SMILE AGAIN". THIS IS THE BEST CD YET OF THE BASS ALL STARS SERIES!!!!

5 out of 5 stars So So Def Bass All-Stars Vol. III best songs.......1999-06-01

I mostly just like the InoJ remixes of "Time After Time," but I LOVE Ricky Bell's remix of "When Will I See You Smile Again!" It's about time the industry's "best kept secret" from New Edition goes solo!! I can't wait to hear more from him!

3 out of 5 stars we should be able to listen to all the songs instead of 5........1998-12-12

The song by Inoj is real nice but the rest is alright. It doesn't really make me want to go out and buy the third one, because I only liked 1 out of what 5. At least if I had heard a little more then...

1 out of 5 stars Travesty.......2007-05-01

This song is an affront to the original. She can't even get the lyrics right in half of it. It is not supposed to be an upbeat song. It's a sad song, which is supposed to have the soul and melancholy notes that Cyndi gave it. Truly horrid.

3 out of 5 stars Wow,.......2005-09-30

Wow. It's been long since anybody reviewed this song. I heard this song, and I just wanted to give it a review. Inoj's voice is sweet (how do you pronounce her name, by the ways). The beats are nice. But, Cyndi Lauper sang it way better. Inoj's version lacks the powerful vocals that Cyndi had. If you're not sure what I mean, listen to the second time the chorus comes. The "I will be waiting" was just too breathy. Overall, it's a pretty decent song, but I'd much rather listen to Cyndi's.

5 out of 5 stars This is a fantastic single album!!!.......1999-04-12

I know what most of you think, that remixes of our old favorites usually do not turn out as good, but this is great. INOJ does a great job of carturing the old meaning of the song and turning it into something new and hit for todays youth. It is amazing and I recomend it to anyone!!!

5 out of 5 stars it was cool.......1999-03-20

it was totaly coo

5 out of 5 stars Wow.......1999-01-30

This is totally cool. It's true that no one can beat Cyndi's version, but it is great in another way-dance music baby!!!
