About the Artist
World Famous T-Bag or Taliq Montgomery started rapping and performing at the age of 15. "The name T-Bag came from my high school friends and after I traveled I added World Famous" according to Montgomery. T-Bag started rapps and freestyling during school on the south side of Chicago. World Famous always loved hip hop as well as rapp. " Coming from the midwest we got to here a wide variety of artist from the west and east coast," according to world famous, " we loved BDP,N.W.A, X-Clan, Ice-T, as well as The Beasties and island music." World Famous performed in his first show at a High School Talent contest in 1992. After that he went on to perform at college talent shows and on the street in freestyle battles. "It was hard getting out there at first, when I started going for mine seriously in 1994 there was a split in the rapp community, if you rapped about something positive you were hip hop, if you rapped about the street you were gangster, I Just Wanted to Flow," said, World Famous. As time went on World Famous won various freestyle battles, "my favorite freestlye battle was at a Tone-Loc concert, he asked the crowd if ther was anyone who could freestyle I dropped my beer and ran for the stage, I got up there closed my eyes and let my soul flow; when it was over the crowd choose me and Tone gave me 100 dollars." T-bag went on to work with a alternative rock band De-Fex, " working with a band was my favorite, something about live instruments gives me a warm feeling inside, it was not like my solo project because you have to depend on others heavily, if the drummers off then eeveryone is off, if the lead gutiarist pops a string your in big trouble." Live music is the purist form of music and the form World Famous perfers to do most. After some complications the band had to go thier seperate ways. T-bag went on to graduate from college a persue a sales career, "sales was great, it was like freestlying you had to come up with a different pitch to each individual customer, it also helped me learn how to deal with the business side of the music industry," acording to World Famous. After working for a year T-Bag decided to persue his professonal rapp career. "I listened to todays rapp music and I saw that there was something missing me. I wanted to invent somthing never heard before so I tryed to strecth my mind with the World Famous T-bag The only Brother In The Club, my first Album. This album was raw, just showed the skills I have to build a fan base." The album recieved mix reviews and it set the standard for what was to cume next; The Element Of Surprise. "The E.O.S project was hardest thing to get started. I had to finance the project and we know what that's like. After I finished Roll Wit Me the other songs keep coming. I pushed to try to make the next song better than the last so I spent countless hours in the studio. When the product was finished it took me a while to get it to you but here it is the Element Of Surprise, Enjoy." World Famous T-Bag.

4 out of 5 stars 40 Water Is Fun To Listen To.......2006-04-28

40 Water is an OG in the rap game, and it shows in many ways. He has been rapping since the 80's; he has several hit records, and he is the godfather of that slang you hear everyone biting off of today. This album is loaded with that flow we love from 40, humorous, rapid, and firey. While this album has a few weak beats and some filler, there is definitley some classic material here. Bosko laces some phat, old-school-meets-new- school G-Funk beats in the bangers "All Tha Time" and "Doin' Dirt Bad" (both w/ B-Legit), both perfect for lowriding. The hard core track "Money Scheme" shows Jayo Felony and 40 killin' the mic with their unique flows. "Hope I Don't Go Back" is a timeless G-Funk classic. Here, E shows his vulnerable side contemplating what he may have to return to if his success ran out. "Ballin' Outta Control" is a classic re-release dug up from his classic 1994 EP The Mail Man. "My Hoodlums and Thugz" is a fun bouncy G-Funk selection with Mack 10 and WC. Another classic is "From The Ground Up" (w/ Too $hort and K-Ci and JoJo), where Short and E reminisce about blowin' up in the game with phat hooks all over a smokin' Ant Banks beat. If it weren't for the filler, this one would get 5 stars and rank up there near In a Major Way.

4 out of 5 stars Least Expected.......2005-08-08

E-40's double disc release, The Element Of Surprise, is a 24-track release worthy of the West Coast bragging rights. 40-Water didn't stray from his buck fifty flow, game spitting nor his slang infested rhymes. He merely intensified it as what's featured on "$999,999 + $1 = A Mealticket". The title track is almost too good to be true as he being the album off with low-keyed, bass heavy introduction as is the even slower "Dump, Bust, Blast". 40 Fonzarelli gets personal on the mainstream "Hope I Don't Go Back" and "Zoom". Speaking of "Personal" featuring D-Shot, Suga T., The Mossie & LeVitti it is a standout for this entire release where everyone gave an A+ performance. "It's On, On Sight" featuring C-Bo was on target with a gangster mentality of retaliation. A collaboration between Charlie Hustle & Master P on "Back Against The Wall". "To The Beat" produced by Studio Ton had everything necessary for a solid song with lyrics like "...I don't need no iron, I'm already creased / I don't need no money, I got mouthpiece..." Missing, was more production by longtime producer Studio Ton to bridge the gap between a good album and a classic album. Only real E-40 and Sick Wid' It fans would know the difference. But on a good note, to end with "One More Gen" as a good conclusion for an element of a good album.

5 out of 5 stars WORTH THE HIGH PRICE!!!.......2002-06-21

There are very little disappointments on this double disc, which is quite a feat! This album has a very high replay rate, meaning you'll wanna listen to it again and again. I love this album. I think it would be very funny to hear Kool Keith and E 40 make an album together.

For those of you that can't understand what E-40's saying go find the lyrics on the net. Now for those of you who are curious about this album check out songs like "jump my bone" my favourite song of '98. And "... roast-a-botch" was a "don't fight the feelin'" remake but it's still off the hook. In a mjor way IS better but this has 2-cd's with few dissapointments (master p) P.S. i like master p

        Album Description

Newest from WorldWind is this community of original songs of love and social concerns from peripatetic songsmith James Durst, ranging from seasoned reflections on the human condition to the freshest of his observations on the current political landscape. Some whimsical, others poignant, all skillfully crafted with James's unmatched affection for words and melody; and delivered with a light and hopeful heart and a twinkling eye. The songs are nimbly supported by such gifted musicians as Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Sebastian and folk favorite Reggie Harris (on Not Another Gun), drummer/percussionists Greg Ellis and Debra Dobkin, Beach Boys guitarist/vocalist Scott Totten, veteran bassists and longtime friends Simeon Pillich and David Jackson (who also doubles on accordion for the title cut, Surprisium), jazz vocalist Melba Joyce (on I Am A Seed of Peace), world-class oudist John Bilezikjian (on This Change Is Everything), Jamaican drummer/vocalist Maroghini (on Have A Friend), L.A. lap steel virtuoso Greg Leisz (on Make Believe), keyboard magician Bob Malone (piano on Happen This Way, What If...?, & Come To Me, and accordion on La Chanson de Massage), Argentinean classical guitarist Claudio Ragazzi (on Snow) and new age keyboardist Laurie Z (on La Chanson de Massage & Come To Me). And More!

        Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars James' best work yet.......2002-08-14

As a fan of James Durst over many years and many records, I think that "Element of Surprise" is his best work yet. The songs are clever, varied, and well-performed. There is a lot of variety, from message songs ("I Am a Seed of Peace") to whimsical wordplay (the title song, with its graphic connection to the excellent cover art). In addition to solid vocal and guitar work, James' tasteful use of backing musicians is effective throughout.

It is also interesting to note the copyright dates on the songs. They are written over a thirty year period, but all presented in a fresh contemporary style. Lyrics and recording information are included, and the CD package is environmentally conscious. Thanks, James, and looking forward to the next one.
