4 out of 5 stars THE DARKSIDE DARE IS TURNING AGAINST THE EVIL IDENTIFICATION WITH THE (BAD) MOTHER-EARTH........2007-06-25

This record was released in 1994 and it's a classical old skool album.
It is a psychic metaphor of the evil identification with a bad mother.
Please look at the art cover picture: there is Redman below ground, and he yelles; above him, there are the electric cables at high tension, that symbolizes the psychic cathexis that are investited in this psychic process.
Naturally this record is for winning people that, according to the Psyco-analysis of Sigmund Freud, expel the "bad" objects and integrate the aggressivity energy.
HIGLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL RAP FANS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S:
Please check up my rap listmania, just clicking on my nickname and clicking above my listmania. Here there are 40 Hip-Hop albums choosed by me just for winning people and not for fans of the mortal masochism rap !!!

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite Redman Album (Rating: 10 out of 10- -5.0 stars).......2007-04-08

This is my favorite Redman LP compared to all the albums that he has released (with the exception of "Red Gone Wild" which I haven't heard yet because it came out recently). Given that "What Thee Album?" back in 1992 was his best LP, Redman consistantly switches up his style. Truthfully from all of the albums that I heard by him, he's never had a bad album. But on his sophomore album "Dare Iz A Darkside", I find it to be an awesome follow up album.

One thing people loved about Redman, was that he was always saying something funny in his rhymes, and it keeps peoples attention. And his sense of humor really play in his skills. Songs like "A Million And One Buddah Spots" and "Green Island" really show his sense of humor behind the mic. I would say that my most favorite song on this album would be "Can't Wait", because it has so much energy (and it's one of my favorite music videos as well). And the traditional "Soopaman Luva II" is a good song that has a twist in it's storyline.

Guest appearances are good as well. Erick Sermon and Keith Murray drop dope verses on "Cosmic Slop", another excellent track. And Hurricane G. appears in "We Run N.Y." that is okay as well. Her voice is sampled for the chorus of the song "Winicumuhround".

The production on this album is excellent as well. Erick Sermon and Redman really drop some nice beats for this album. The production really gives off a 1994 type flavor to this album.

This is another gem from the N.J. area. Around this time, a lot of artists from that area were starting or were already making a name for themselves (Artifacts, The Fugees, Lords Of The Underground), and Redman's second album would make a perfect addition to represent. This album really deserves a 9 on the 10 scale, but I said it as my favorite album from Redman, so I figured I would warrant a perfect score for this album. If you're a fan of East Coast rap from the 90's, I recommend that you listen to this album.

4 out of 5 stars Redman - Dare Iz A Darkside.......2007-03-25

Two years later in 1994, Redman releases his second album called "Dare Iz A Darkside". His first album was a success and I was definately feeling the production and lyrics and definately the originality on that album. This album is different in some aspects. Ill break it down a bit.

The lyrics on this album, you still got that same style from Redman. If you were feelin the lyrics from "Whut? Thee Album" youll be getting the same type of lyrics here on this album. Redman is definately still kickin the dope ish!

The production on this album was nice! Unlike the first album, this album is really grimey. Gots them heavy bass, just straight bangers. I seen a review, saying that all these beats sound the same, well I agree but disagree at the same time. On this album, you got a majority of the production by Erick Sermon, and some joints produced by Redman himself. Im feelin the productio on this album, just for the fact that the beats are grimey and hard bangers.

Overall, I recommend you pick up Redmans first album, then this one next. They have different styles, but at the same time both ill. Pick this up! Real hip-hop, Redman keeps it hardcore!!! Overall I give this album about a 4.5/5.

3 out of 5 stars Darkside.......2007-03-02

This CD is OK. I wanted more after I heard 'Redman Muddy Waters', but for me, it wasn't as good.

Still some real good songs, and some great lyrics. Buy Muddy Waters first.

'more deadlier than a whole school system of asbestos'. HAH

4 out of 5 stars THIS ALBUM IS ESSENTIAL AS WELL, BUT IT DID NOT MOVE ME LIKE THE FIRST ONE.......2007-02-15

i dig the joints on this album as well, but something about this album just does not move me in the same way that the first one did. however, i love GREEN ISLAND, WE RUN NEW YORK (where is hurricane g?), and CAN'T WAIT. oh, and the skits are banannas!!!! i'd get this again, but i think that it would make me just wanna listen to the first album anyway.
