Within the soul-drenched music of northern Florida's JJ Grey and band, the roots run as deep as the influences are indelible. "War" and "By My Side" sound like Southern-fried Sly and the Family Stone. "Turpentine" recalls the swamp funk of Tony Joe White. Both "A Woman" and "The Sun Is Shining Down" suggest long-lost Otis Redding sessions in Muscle Shoals, while "Mississippi" takes Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" on a trip down to the delta. From the harmonica-laced country blues of the title track to the gospel piano and choir of "On Palestine," Grey's music compensates with conviction for what it lacks in originality. --Don McLeese

Album Description

JJ Grey & MOFRO's Alligator debut, Country Ghetto features 12 original JJ Grey compositions that come right out of the Southern musical and literary tradition. Grey's ear for detail inhabits his songs, whether it is a story passed down to him from his grandmother or the tribulations of a childhood friend. His voice delivers them with an unflinching strength that makes the personal universal and paints a vivid portrait of an exact time or place with words and music. Like his songs, his rich, soulful vocals are forceful and commanding, seemingly old beyond his years. And the music, from smoldering soul ballads to gospel-fried funk to straight ahead rock `n' roll, brings it all home with danceable grooves and a melodic freshness that will stay with you long after the album ends.

Grey's songwriting influences are widespread. "I listen to people who tell the story," he says, naming Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, R.L. Burnside, Tony Joe White, Jerry Reed, Otis Redding, Dr. John, Sly & The Family Stone, Van Morrison, Bill Withers and Dan Penn. What these writers and performers have in common is a love for simplicity, evoking complex emotions with a minimal number of words. As a performer, Grey is influenced by the sexually charged blues of Howlin' Wolf, the country soul of George Jones and the hard funk of James Brown, as well as local personalities like street preachers and old time radio DJs.

5 out of 5 stars JJ & Mofro will make you swing.......2007-07-17

Saw these guys at Wakarusa rock fest in Kansas this June and they blew the crowd away. JJ and the band sound like a modern version of some country funk time machine. I told friends to catch thes guys when they played an outdoor show in Iowa with B.B. King. My friends agreed, these guys are full of soul and can really rock. Great cd, buy it, go see their show. This is the real deal!!

5 out of 5 stars music review.......2007-07-11

I love this cd. It is in frequent rotation at my house. It is good on two levels. For one, the funky swamp infested bluesy songs will have you dancing, but the quieter "love songs" are really earthy and sensual as well. It is a great combination of styles and musical instrumentation. I hope they keep on making great music for a long time.

5 out of 5 stars Cant go wrong with Country Ghetto.......2007-06-20

I could write something about how much I love every song on this album but all I need to say is INSTANT CLASSIC. If you love Southern Fried Soul Music these are your guys.

"The Sun Is Shining Down" and "Tragic" are especialy powerful songs.

Enjoy.

Sounds exactly like Sly meets Holmes Brothers meets Edwin Starr meets Jonny Lang meets Sonia Dada meets Black Crowes mets Creedance meets Drive By Truckers meets the Beatles. Sort of.

4 out of 5 stars Another letter from home........2007-05-29

If you've never heard MoFro, then you need to tune in to and find out about some "front porch soul". If you HAVE heard the first two albums, don't think Country Ghetto is some rehash of previous material to fulfill a label contract. It IS the same soulful instrumentation and vocals. But JJ has more stories to tell and they come across to me like a letter from home - full of honest emotion about things we share, the good and the bad. Country Ghetto has a more serious feel to it for me than MOFRO and LOCHLOOSA. Its not just the lyrics of a young inciteful poet, talking about life. Its the lyrics of a man, living life with the convictions, dignity and respect for life you learn when you grow up in a Country Ghetto.

The gunfire and screams opening Jaheim's second CD, Still Ghetto, make it clear that while you can take the homeboy out of New Jersey, you can't take Jersey out of the homeboy, no matter how deftly he negotiates the slippery slope of R&B success. So while Still Ghetto gives us a mix of cuddly urban ballads and sleek soul, a hip-hop edge remains. Still, Jaheim's grooves convey great optimism. That's especially true of "Fabulous," where children spread the word of hope. The confessional "Put That Woman First" is a tender lesson on how to love, while the smoky "Beauty and Thug," a duet with Jaheim cheerleader Mary J. Blige, puts a contemporary urban slant on opposites attracting. There's a sensuality to Still Ghetto, even at its most unhinged (relatively speaking), and to Jaheim's voice, which has been favorably--and aptly--compared to Luther Vandross's. Could be worse. --Kim Hughes

Album Description

With his 2001 debut album he brought together sexy, soulful R&B with hardcore hip-hop and scored big time as the album went platinum. He sticks with the same ingredients for his 2002 release. Guest artists include Mary J. Blige, Tha Rayne & Duganz. Warner Bros.

With a sleek, soulful style combined with the hard edge of hip-hop, Jaheim makes it all work and outdoes himself on this album. With a sound reminiscent of a young Teddy Pendergrass, Jaheim is truly at his best in Fabulous....Put That Woman First.....Diamond In Da Ruff...the entire CD is Jaheim at the top of his game. Jaheim demonstrates the type of artist that you rarely see these days...with true talent, and with an appeal that reaches the very mature listener and the hip-hop crowd. One of the very few artists whose CDs I actually purchase......this one is a must for the collection.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous.......2005-09-25

"Still Ghetto" is Jaheim's sophomore album. "Still Ghetto" is incredible, amazing & wonderful. I picked this album up a few months ago. I had never heard of Jaheim, I hadn't even heard of him. But when I first listened to this album, I was amazed. Jaheim has such a wonderful voice. It's so deep, so soulful. I'd love to hear more from him. After purchasing this album and listening to it numerous times back to back, I decided to get more of his material. I saw the video for the song "Anything" and I thought it was new, but I quickly learned that it was an old song off of Jaheim's debut album, "Ghetto Love". I purchased the album but I haven't gotten around to listening to it, just only a few tracks.

"Put That Woman First" was the first song I heard by this New Jersey vocalist. I saw the video and I thought it was great. This song is about, well, putting that woman first because if you don't she's going to leave. Great song, great message.

"Fabulous" is probably the best song on this album. It teaches children to keep their head up and never give up. I think that is a great message and it also features little children singing the chorus and other parts in this song.

"Special Day", "Let's Talk About It", "Me And My Bitch" & "Diamond In Da Ruff" are other songs I also like on "Still Ghetto".

Overall, this album is great. I'm looking forward to listening to "Ghetto Love".

5 out of 5 stars Put this album 1st!!!.......2005-08-08

I would never guess that such a big brotha like Jaheim would possess such a beautiful voice. He's so shy. I know he's gonna be around for a long time with a voice like that; he's got that Mary J type of soul. This album goes down like hot chocolate on a winter day, smooth. I say, cop this album, and play it whether you're in love or still looking for it.

Amazon.com essential recording

Best known for its distinctive fusion of Latin-flavored jazz, funk, rock, and soul, War was unquestionably one of the most successful fusion bands to emerge in the early '70s. Initially working with Eric Burdon, former lead singer with the British '60s band the Animals, the seven-member team enjoyed a commercial breakthrough with 1971's "All Day Music." The follow-up, The World Is a Ghetto took War mainstream thanks to the crossover success of the title track, a top 10 pop and R&B smash as 1972 became 1973. Cuts like the 13-minute-plus jazz-flavored adventure known as "City, Country, City" alongside the witty "Where Was You At" and the eerie "Four Cornered Room" were standouts on the six-track album. But it was the immediacy of the No. 2 pop single "The Cisco Kid," with its catchy hook that helped give the band a chart-topping No. 1 gold-selling album in 1973, arguably the best representation of its work as groove pioneers of the day. --David Nathan

5 out of 5 stars Progressive soul music..........2006-07-10

This album, which is one of my top 30 favorites, is progressive soul music. It's like Isaac Hayes in his heyday, when his albums like Hot Buttered Soul, Movement, and Joy had epic tracks on them, some running as long as 18 minutes. This is War's best album, with the title track and City, Country, City standing out. Even though there's only 6 songs, and most of them are fairly long, War was one of the tightest bands on the planet. The main theme of the album really resonates today, that the world is indeed a ghetto, because no matter where you go, trouble will find you. You can never cut yourself off completely from society (even though some try to). As the liner notes say, even a Rolls Royce can get a flat tire. If we realised that, we would get along much better, because we all live in this ghetto of a world. We should try and make it better.

5 out of 5 stars The BIG one..........2006-05-03

The title of my review says it all. For those of you that are into statistics and sales and chart positions and all that good stuff, you're probably aware that this is the only War album to top the pop charts. Of course, for my purposes, none of that matters.

Growing up, this was my SECOND favorite War album. As I became an adult, though, this one crept to the top of the list. Why? Perhaps it was the mood of the album. The album is very dark and downtrodden, and perhaps that's the beauty of it. Although the album was released a couple of years before I was born, it was an album that reflected the uncertain times: a few years after the murders of MLK & RFK, in the midst of American dissatisfaction with the Viet Nam war, and the soon-to-be-headline-making Watergate scandal.

Anyway, even though there's only six songs on the album, they are a WHOPPING six songs. Kicking things off is "The Cisco Kid." Honestly, if I had to name a single song that made me a War fan, it was this one. It's all in the bass line. For all you bass aspiring bass players out there, this song is SERIOUS PROOF that you don't have to slap to be STANKY.

Next, there's the Big Easy flavored "Where Was You At?"...a great little song, sad but upbeat. Then there's the epic "City Country City." The darkness rises in a big way. You get lots of what made WAR one of THE best: great group work, great individual solos, and the music never gets stagnant.

The things only get darker with "Four Cornered Room." I'll be honest: I like the song, but it's probably the spookiest song War ever recorded. Couple this song along with the totality of Sly Stone's "Riot" LP for ultimate in depressing, junkie-nodding music.

Than the culmination, the title song. Great song, great groove, great lyrics, great solos....

"Beetles in the Bog"? I like the song. It's sort of like one of those campfire sing-along type songs. Well, in this particular case, it's more like a song best sung around a fire lit in a garbage barrell.

This is War's masterpiece, an album no serious War fan should be without.

Fans of tried-and-true gutbucket R&B have much cause for joy this spring: there's a new crop of down-home, take-no-prisoners love-men and -women in town, and leading the pack is Jaheim, a roughneck Romeo from New Jersey. Signed to ex-Naughty By Nature DJ Kay-Gee's Divine Mill imprint (and with production mainly by Mr. "Hip Hop Hooray"), Jaheim's tender-but-tough sound harks back to Teddy Pendergrass: just listen to the sexy moan that kicks off the single "Could It Be." Not even remotely shabby. As this debut's title indicates, Ghetto Love overflows with rough-hewn odes to romance on the raw side of town. In this case, that means songs about giving as much love to one's niggas as to one's bitches, denying paternity, and rhymes about Hennessey. It might look clichéd on paper, but Jaheim is skilled enough to transcend trite truisms. On the smoky "Looking For Love" and the finger-snapping "Let It Go," he earns his stripes, making his mark with a taut CD that has an old playa's soul and a new jack's swagger. --Amy Linden

5 out of 5 stars Jaheim- Ghetto Love.......2007-06-06

Whoa! I cannot find the words to even begin to describe this album. This album is a masterpiece from head to toe. He mastered the mellow/relax r&b...on his first album! I mean this album is exactly what the title reads... GHETTO LOVE. It is just that ghetto as hell make love on the floor til my knees start to bleed r&b music. I mean how is anyone goin to ever compete with this album? And by anyones standards unless this album goes diamond two times it going to be underated. Period. It is so perfect that i really dont think even Ja knows he made such a work of art. This is that love making/ rolling around the city with the top back music at its best. And his voice is one to kill for. You wont hear another voice like his in a while. The song "Just In Case" is so ghetto and smooth that you can just sit back in a hot tub or in your bed and chill without a thought on your mind. The title track "Ghetto Love" ... well lets just say will have you hot in a sexond. And most people dont even know who Ja is. And that is a shame. He should be more know than Usher. The production could have been a bit better but other than that this is a perfect album. And its only his first, which mean he can only rise from this album. Scary thought isnt it. This album is to good for words, just take my advice and buy it you wont be dissapointed. This man can sing better than anyone in the game right now, this man can make music better than anyone in the game right now period. BUY IT!!!

5 out of 5 stars JAHEIM IS SO OFFICIAL.......2007-04-03

I have been in love with Jaheims soulful vioce every since I heard "Could it be" on his first album. Most people like hearing the more commercial voices in the music industry but Jaheims voice I can truly say is one of the best ever. The Soul in his voice is unmatched by anyone. I bought all of his albums and I must say that I am in love with all of them. I can't wait to hear what he will come out with next.

5 out of 5 stars A decent debut.......2007-01-22

Jaheim's first single off of this album was Could it be. I remember distinctly being about fourteen when i first saw the video. I was at the salon and wasn't too impressed by him at all. After that i didn't think about him again until Just in case came out some months later. The concept of the video and the song was excellent and I loved it. I've never been into hard r&b, but this album i did like. the songs are about real situations that people go through, it's not all glamourous like song artists. I like that quality of jaheim's music. The only flaw i found in this album were the lyrics. A lot of the lyrics seem extremely amateur, like the person who wrote the song wasn't really creative or trying hard. It is a decent debut. Jaheim sophomore and junior albums are MUCH better.

5 out of 5 stars Ja.......2007-01-19

I love Jaheim. He's got that Teddy P and ghetto thing going on. So sexy. I loved this CD when it came out before but never bought it.

5 out of 5 stars Jaheim is the best.......2006-07-18

I bought this CD again because my daughter and her boyfriend hijacked my copy. I listen to a lot of music across different genres but NO ONE does it better than Jaheim. I put this on when I'm cleaning up, put it on when I'm riding and just thrill at the sound of his voice. His lyrics capture the streets but also showcase his capacity to love.

4 out of 5 stars Jaheim- Ghetto Classics.......2007-06-06

Well its been along time coming since his phenonminal debut Ghetto Love, and even though nothing will ever compare to that perfect debut, Jaheim still almost six years later is putting out solid music. He still has the best voice in the game without a doubt. And he definetly displays that on this album just like before. Its the songwriting that is lacking a little bit since Ghetto Love and the mediocre Still Ghetto. The production and vocals are still there but the writing could use some work. I was shocked to see that this was the number one selling album in its debuting week. Thats a first for ja. But he could not have picked a better day to release this album, Valentines Day, because this album just gives you that warm feeling. I mean even by looking at the glowing cover you could tell that this album was just going to have a warm feeling to it. The only thing i could complain about this album is its length. It is super short. I think it just barely reaches forty minutes. That is a very short release. But it is quality. Starting right off the bat with "The Chosen One" which just gives you that 70's r&b warmness feel. Then theres the sexy single "Everytime I Think About Her". But one of the standouts is the little more up tempo "Forgetful" which is that song where Ja's woman suffers a little amnesia and forget how well he spoils her. And to close this short but good release is the super chill lay back and relax "Come Over" which just leaves you fiening for more Ja. Its just the silkiness to his voice on "Come Over" that just puts you in that relaxed mode. So Ghetto Classics is not as phenominal as the stellar Ghetto Love, but it leaves Still Ghetto in the dust by far. BUY IT!!!

3 out of 5 stars Does selling your LP for ten bucks pay off?.......2007-05-12

Dumb question- the man does have to deal with what the record label give him. Back to the music- Dude's voice is strong enough, and a few rap verses from your favorite D Block emcees actually helps. Gets an extra star for content. Real life situations in the Daddy Thing and Fiend - 125th is fire, too-further proof that there's no place like New York. The romantic joints are mostly tolerable. Ne-Yo's new one goes for ten beans or close to it, but he's gonna move units. I guess your R&B career's gonna be limited if your can't move like C Brown or Usher nowadays. Understandably so. He might have maxxed out with his hottest single, Anything. What album was that on again? I think Monica suffered the same fate with her first album and that SPace Jams song, or maybe even The Boy is Mine song- too much success too early is bad, though Jaheim's was on a much smaller scale.

2 out of 5 stars What! Ja WHO? Can't be!.......2006-11-08

This is not what I expected from such a gifted artist as Jaheim, did he change producers? The music and the man with the voice didn't go together well for me. This is one I will not be purchasing, it is a serious down grade from his previous two albums. Better luck next time, Jaheim I was truly disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Not as good as his first two........2006-07-31

I love Jaheim's voice--absolutely love it. But this CD is not as emotional as his 1st two. The music isn't as solid and his song choices don't emphasize his voice. Jaheim is definitely a true R&B artist and I want to hear him sing more strong powerful songs where his voice stands out. I give him 3 stars only because his 1st two CDs were 5 stars. And this CD isn't nearly as good as those.

4 out of 5 stars Solid..........2006-07-03

I prefer his former works indeed, but I think it's good album at the same time.Jaheim's vocal is excellent for R&B style, and every album displays a obvious continuation with the previous one. I can feel his strong faith of Ghetto, which is much better than those singers who are always clinging to sex theme...

Yes, not as good as Ghetto Love,or Still Ghetto, but some tracks are listenable:The Chosen One, Every Time I Think About Her, Fiend, Like A DJ, I Ain't Never...

5 out of 5 stars Awesome.......2007-01-26

The cd is really, really great. I was so impressed with this young man that I purchased two of the same cd so I would'nt be caught anywhere without a copy. Thanks for the really great music and I can relate to what you are saying.

5 out of 5 stars great cd.......2006-11-10

This cd was worth the money. The variety of music is great. There are velvety smooth slow jams and music that forces you out of your seat.

4 out of 5 stars great musical artist.......2006-11-01

It's a shame that Urban Mystic is not advertised better. He needs to change record labels. He has a great voice but many people have not heard of him. His first ablum was off the tracks and the follow up is right behind it. Check him out.

5 out of 5 stars Just AMZING!!.......2006-08-25

This cd is not at all what I thought it was going to be. It is actually better. He knows how to capture the attention of many women. The lyrics to most of the songs on the album are beautiful. He says all the things that a woman wishes that a man would say and mean it. Men take notes from this man!!! He knows what to say!!

5 out of 5 stars Mystic has magic!.......2006-06-20

Without getting into a long rant here...but I can't help but to say it...
This Cat here can blow! I mean he really can sing. Not just a mediocre singer that sounds good with the benefit of a good melody.
No...this young brother can wobble.

1. Wobble;(waa-bul)Term used in Rythmn and Blues retro languages referencing to one who has a great singing flare.

His junior CD has really got good a retro-soulful appeal. This as we know, is something that is missing in our music today.
He can easily be compared to other vocalists, such as K-Ci Hailey, Anthony Hamilton and Jahiem. But his deep rich, unique raspy Southern-style vocals will definitely stand him above and beyond these mentioned counterparts.

Urban Mystic is truly magical! A must have classic...don't sleep!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Relevant!.......2007-07-14

Here it is 10 years after this CD was first released and I am just hearing of these guys. Thank goodness for Amazon Lists! This CD sounds as if it were very recently produced. This says at least one thing about it; it's timeless. So much so that were it released today and actually marketed, it would be an instant hit! This is THE CD that has intergenerational appeal! If you like good music, weather it be slow jams, up-tempo, 70's r and b essence, and/or progressive conscience music, this is it. It is all here and is divided into well-thought out chapters. Here is Marvin Gaye meets, Maxwell, meets Nas. Their rendition of "I Want to Get Next to You" is true to the original with creative touches that only enhances it. Every song has something to offer. The music is original and the vocal style exquisitely silky while maintaining street credibility. The lyrics are fresh and refreshing. Some tell stories of urban city violence born out of desperation, without glorifying it. While others are very sensual, yet respectful professions of their love and desire for their women. This is indeed, as another reviewer has stated, today's What's Going On. This is most evident on "Come to Me" and "Full of Smoke." "Soon" is a powerful anthem to and about future love whenever/however/ with whomever it manifests. "Bring Back Your Love," will remind some of Baby Face's earlier/best songs. There is not ONE song on Ghetto Cyrano that I dislike. If you pay 15.00 for this CD, you would be getting it at a steal! But at these discounted prices all over the Net, just buy several them and give them as gifts and watch the thank yous pour in for your having helped others discover and enjoy such a gem!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent debut disc..............2007-06-13

As you have probably noticed from reading other reviews regarding this album, it is a top notch effort. This disc manages to blend the old school with the new school effortlessly. This disc does have a dark vibe to it but I think it's mainly because of the subject matter and production style. They were trying to convey the struggle that american youth are dealing with. It worked!!! If you like r&b with excellent harmonies and great hooks then this disc is for you. I really wish music had meaning like this disc. I guess until the cycle comes back around we will be rocking this disc so we won't have to listen to wack artists like T pain and Bow Wow.

You should also search for a cd by "the transitions" here on amazon as well. It is excellent too.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT .......2007-06-06

Album Description

At the age of 19, Urban Mystic, an up-and-coming singer/songwriter/producer from Fort Lauderdale, FL, is in the midst of redefining contemporary R&B with the release of his debut album, Ghetto Revelations. Urban Mystic's name reflects the combination of luscious vocals and street flair present on his sultry tracks. He's poised to resurrect the rhythm that is undeniably absent from today's rhythm and blues.

5 out of 5 stars What A Treasure.......2005-10-26

Man------ I am truly impressed with these new school kats with dat ole school vocal power. And I can't think of anybody, not even R. Kelly who could sing an explicit song like the F**k song and make it sound as innocent as he did with this song. And not everyone can do remakes but his take on the classic Bobby Womack, What A Woman's Needs fills any prescription. He does an exceptional job, while he changes one of the verse's delivery to add new flava to the song. There are many more tasteful musical tracks with delightful accompanying deep vocals on Mystic's debut. What is so errie, is the fact that many tracks are sexual in nature but have a sensual non-sexual appeal. Actually doesn't make it seem as dirty as it sounds. That may sound twisted but he has the ability to walk a fine line without turning your stomach. Really looking forward to his follow-up, but for now I am really enjoying this joint. I hope these Kat's Like Lyfe, Mystic, Anthony Hamilton and others will someday do a collabo. It would be nice to hear their vocals together. Expect to listen straight through. This is one of those joints with pure hotnessssssssss. Get This! No Disappointment! Peace......

4 out of 5 stars DON'T SLEEP..........2005-05-25

Another hot CD from an unknown!!! Urban Mystic is in rare form on this one! Don't think because you haven't heard of him, he's not worth buying. You are sadly mistaken. He's not commercial though, so if that's what you like he's not for you. I'm all about seeking the talent that doesn't get the attention they so much deserve! You think there's not good music out here because the media only gives you the bubble gum, overcommercialized, watered down stuff. I challenge all to look for greatness...don't rely on radio and tv to deliver it! If you like Urban Mystic, you must check out Lyfe Jennings. He's another one of God's dark angels. ;)

5 out of 5 stars Soulful - Love It!!.......2005-05-03

LOVE IT!! LOVE IT!!!
Very original and soulful. Top two favorites are: A Womans Gotta Have It and F**K Song. Urban Mystic is nobody to be slept on!! As I began my PR firm, I look forward to promoting artists like Urban Mystic who don't get the exposure that they deserve.

5 out of 5 stars WELCOME TO TRUE R&B SOUND.......2005-03-24

We just bought this cd last night after my husband saw Urban Mystiq on Soul Train and hey! this young brother put it down, he's a mixture of Calvin Richardson and Anthony Hamilton. I love his soulful, bluesy R&B sound, who are the A&R people that are supposed to let the public know about these great artists, right along with Joe, Calvin and Anthony, another brother not getting his props! We look forward to the next album.

5 out of 5 stars old school music just got a new player.......2005-01-06

got this today and listened to it once so far and this is a great cd, the sound is great, has lots of soul and lots of great words , I'm not a big rap fan or not one at all really but this is not a rap record, it is full of great beats and full of kick ass songs which will live for a long time, this is as good or better than Anthony Hamilton who is also a great singer and these two singers are keeping me into soul music . I cant wait to play this again and it will be in my car for a long time to come, if you like soul music than you will like this cd,

Off top! Fat Pat always conveyed a story based product. Genius!!! He maintained is composure in all his bars....consistent ....precised...animated lyricist. I wished I'd would have an opportunity to work with him. "See you soon Fat Pat and relay to Screw, HAWK, Mafioso, Big Steve and rest of the click to watch over Al-D, C-Note, Mr 3-2, Lil KeKe and rest of the Screwed Up Click" 33, and still screwed fo' life, all ready.

5 out of 5 stars One of the most slept on albums of all time.......2006-12-06

HANDS DOWN THIS WAS THE MOST SLEPT ALBUM OF 1997!!!!! Illiodic Shines with Mic Geronimo was crazy!!! Except for showing up on a few mix tapes and a late night hip- hop radio shows here and there. Royal Flush deserves his props. Just about every track is a certified BANGA!!!Its a shame he didn't come out with anything else!!!

5 out of 5 stars its that gully queens hip hop from the 97-98 era.......2006-01-29

this album right here is hot, first off its the production, and his lyrics are good but nothing to go crazy over but its listenable and tolerable,he spits that queens flow that i like, anyways for those who don't know who is royal flush he's mic geronimo's right hand man and capone's cousin from cnn.his first appearance was on mic's first album the natural(1995).he's half black and half cuban, its too bad that he didn't get any buzz from the mainstream, but his single iced out medallions got some underground buzz, this album is very very underrated and shouldn't be,i got this album in a used music, movie store in fla,i couldn't find this in new york, but any ways this is recommended for fans of queens hip hop, cnn, and underground hip hop.stand out tracks are Iced down medallions,Can't help it,Movin' on your weak productions(my favorite track on this album and was produced by da beatminerz),that beat has that real new york feel to it and its very addicting,Family Problems,Regulate(my second favorite track on the album)it features mic geronimo, International Currency, and finally Dead Letter

4 out of 5 stars Hot but only 1 dissappointment.......2005-10-30

I thought that the song Rotten Apple was gonna be on there but it wasn't. But besides that this is a good album I wish the man would come out with something else but this album I bought it the same day I bought OC jewelz and I didn't know which one to play both were out and hot!!!! this is a good cd.

5 out of 5 stars Alvaro sez: Flush Puts Flushing Queens on the Map!.......2005-09-01

When i first heard Flush it was on Big L's (other awesome NY artist)Flamboyant Pt. 2 ft. Royal Flush and Mic Geronimo. it blew me away, specialy being someone who has a good grasp on NY Hip Hop and its most talented. The next day i ordered "worlwide" from amazon. When i got it in the mail i couldnt put it down. I paid 3.85 for the cd used (good condition) and it def was worth every cent. If you like artists like Cappadonna from the wu tang, showbiz from D.I.T.C. you will def love flush and his Cd features comps w/ some of my Fav (O.C., MIc Geronimo, Da Wastlanz, Noreaga & Buckwild)

this cd is a must have, a nice peace to have specially if your building up an unknown/undergound collection.
