4 out of 5 stars Crazy.......2007-07-24

I didn't realize it was just the one song. I could have got a mp3 online.

4 out of 5 stars Crazy - Possibly- But Short.......2006-12-08

I bought this CD specifically for the track entitled "Crazy". Anything else - hey, bonus!

Very, very short CD. But if you like the song "Crazy" - it's worth it.

Could there have been more...? Possibly....

4 out of 5 stars (Rating 7 out of 10): Good Single From A Decent Album.......2006-09-18

I like this single. Danger Mouse flips a fast paced beat and Cee-Lo sings. This single "Crazy" has an experimental taste to it, just like the album "St. Elsewhere". Unfortunately, Cee-Lo has became pop, and less appealing to me now. I always like him when he was in the group Goodie Mob, but since he's hit a solo career and started singing more about less appealing things nowadays, I'm just not feeling him like I used to. Danger Mouse does a good job behind the boards producing this album as well as the lead single. This single gets a 7 from me, but the album it's on I give it a 6. It's a good album, but I just can't get into it from an experimental standpoint. If you enjoy experimental pop music, I recommend this single and the album for you.

Chandler Infamous, and I'm out. Peace everyone!

P.S.- This is a CD Single, meaning it's just the song "Crazy" and the instrumental. Obviously two reviewers didn't notice that before they bought this. This is just a warning for anyone else that it's not the full length album.

5 out of 5 stars Ain't crazy...it's soul..........2006-08-26

You certainly ain't crazy liking this song. So much has been said of the collaboration between Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo and the resultant product from Gnarls Barkley.

First single, Crazy, was leaked a whole 6 months before the album was released. And therefore, created a big buzz over the song. Infectiously catchy and unquestionably soulful, Crazy is undoubtedly one of the year's best singles along with Thom Yorke's Harrowdown Hill. Cee-Lo's vocals possessed a pristine quality, firing the song into great heights.

It's one of the times when a collaboraton between two different artites that bears fruit this good.

1 out of 5 stars Awful.......2006-08-23

I bought this song for "Crazy". I thought it would be representative of the rest of the CD. I also thought it was a regular length CD. I was wrong on both counts. The other SONG on the CD is garbage.

From Run-D.M.C.'s unlikely courtship of Aerosmith to Anthrax's union with Public Enemy, seemingly polar opposites have spawned a whole musical genre popularized by the likes of Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Kid Rock. Crazy Town's The Gift of the Game neatly slots into the rap-rock category. They obviously carry some clout, amassing an impressive guest roster for a debut album, including godfathers of the scene Red Hot Chili Peppers on stand-out track "Butterfly" and KRS-One on the storming "B-Boy 2000." As debut albums go, this is about as accomplished and cocksure as you get. --Helen Marquis

1 out of 5 stars The Secret of "Butterfly" that no one knew............2007-02-24

This song has made the band an incredible amount of money and here is why:

The awesome little bass line combo with the guitar stylings of the song sounds awesome right? One has to admit the rapping is EXTREMELY sub-par. We all know that's not why this song got popular. The first time I heard this song, I thought the groove was great and that it was just a plain well put together song with two good parts weaved together that worked perfectly: guitar and bass. It sounded really talented.

Here's the truth:

THIS SONG IS A COMPLETE COPY FROM A PART OF A RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS SONG.

That's right. Crazy Town COMPLETELY lifted the Bass and guitar part from the song "Pretty Little Ditty" by RHCP which can be found on Mother's Milk. There is only 1 note difference (I believe the rule of plagiarism is 3-5 words before it becomes stealing another's ideas) You can even hear the exact rip off from the 30 second snippet on ITunes. Go ahead! Listen to it! Look up the album "Mother's Milk" by RHCP and then the song "Pretty Little Ditty" I'm very angry that Crazy Town made so much money on a song that was based on all-out theft of talented musicians.

I had a feeling that that "crazy" bassline could only have been concocted by Flea and that only John Frusciante can create such a simplistic but heartfelt guitar part. This theft only describes the state of music today. Too bad.....Find your own talent you frauds!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2006-08-04

This has to be simply the best I have heard in a while. I can't understand why this band is getting bad reviews? It has to be Jealousy. I have listened to this cd over and over again and I can never get tired of it. I can't wait for Crazy Town to produce a 3rd cd,their 2nd cd Darkhorse is great also. This is the first band that I enjoyed every song on both their cd's. Perfect would be my review. If you can't appreciate their music you have no taste at all for good quality music. I love Crazy Town, I have lived these songs out. I can't describe it but it seems like every song is about me. Unbelievable!!!! I want to see these guys live WOW.

1 out of 5 stars Its not even metal.......2006-04-02

I remember hearing that after people bood them off stage at Ozzfest. This band was only popular with girls. If you have ever seen the Orange County movie you'd see why, because that song was idolized like other [...]thay year. Butterfly was unbearable and corny. thats why I no longer bother watching MTV. Hell, just to borrow something off Kommisar's playbook, if anyone of those fans listened to Sepultura, they would start to die a cold death in agony because the shock to their toxified pop music bodies would destroy them instantly and render them helpless. I recommend you stockpile some Slayer, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Pantera, Lamb of God, Tool, Sepultura and some Danzig instead of crazytown
RIP Crazytown (2001-2001)

1 out of 5 stars the spice girls of nu-metal.......2006-02-25

Some kid just told me that Crazy Town is the best metal band. I would have killed him but that would be illegal and I dont want to go to prison for killing a kid. Anyways I looked them up on here to write a review and someone is selling this for 1 cent. That says it all. I was subjected to hearing it a long time ago in school all they are is a bunch of limp dick impersonators. They couldnt play a guitar if there life depended on it. They cant even rap for that matter. I dont want to sound racist (...) (...) Real rappers just laugh at this or they exploit white rappers like Feminem because they know that millions of braindead mtv addicted welfare wiggers will buy it up.
Bottom line is this is a complete waste. I hate rap but Id rather listen to real rap than sink so low that i would listen to this crap.

4 out of 5 stars Great.......2005-11-17

Crazy Town broke onto to the scene with a rock rap mix unfortunately the world isnt quite ready yet for such a mix let alone back then so not surprisingly Crazy Town didnt do too well. However look at all the reviews from every person who has given this CD a bad rating and you will find prejudice in that they either favor nothing but rap or nothing but rock and therefore there opinion is biased and should not be credible. if you are really open to different kinds of music and you listen to this CD and still think its bad then by all means write a review on it but don't write a review trashing a type of music you don't understand because the song "butterfly" or the Band Name led you to believe otherwise. - Magik

4 out of 5 stars YOU MUST OWN THIS........2006-08-14

A great LP with funky, hard-hitting beats and Dope MC's. I wish Rap was still like this, anyway... you'll love this record from start to finish. I know that sounds played out but its true. Its really good!!!

5 out of 5 stars This Album Has Me Stone Crazy Every Listen.......2005-11-22

Stone Crazy has to be one of my favorite Beatnuts albums if I had to rate all of them. This album is full of underground classic and had a few tracks that got radio airplay. The songs that stand out on Stone Crazy for me were Bless The MIC, Here's A Drink, Off The Books, Do You Believe, N*ggaz Know, Find That (My favorite), Uncivilized and Thinkin' About Cash.

The guest appearance is all on point on this joint. I noticed every album The Nuts put out is full of guest appearances that keep their albums raw, hardcore and refreshing. The samples on Stone Crazy are very creative as well, I did some researched and Ju Ju and Psycho Les truly dig in some creates to get their polished sound. But I also love how these guys know how to have fun on the MIC, like on Give Me The Ass and Strokes. This is a solid effort and worth the cash.

4 out of 5 stars SO GOOD I WAS STONE CRAZY.......2005-10-04

The beatnuts come back with their third album but this time they return as a duo, Psycho les and Ju ju again keep their already established sound (classic new york beats) and this time they bring guests to add to the proceedings, first up on the now classic of the books track the beatnuts join forces with Big Pun and Cuban Link who both lay some serious quotable verses over a classic beat which seems to come from a childrens program which has then been cut up and looped to great effect, This is one of my favourate tracks of all time in hip hop if not my favourate overall, it just shows you how much I think of it.
The rest of the album is pure magic also, Screwball also feature on a track bringing their queensbridge style which fits with the Corona duo. On the track Give me tha ass they take a well known song and put their own spin on it.
The beatnuts are in my opinion one of the most underated groups in the game right now, These latinos have proven their worth time and time again, if you have never heard the beatnuts before you owe it to yourself to do so and this album is a good place to start (It was my first beatnuts album)buy it.

4 out of 5 stars This is what hiphop should be.......2001-08-20

Nice album, amazing production, and intellectual lyrics. This album should be part of any real hiphop collection. Didnt give 5 stars because I am a hard critic.

4 out of 5 stars Hey, they're every bit as good as P.O.D.!.......2007-05-23

It took me a long time to figure out just what to say about this album, mainly because it didn't grab me the same way The Gift of Game did, but also because I didn't know what to make of the incredible (and incredibly bizarre) criticism I've seen on this site about this band. Seriously, what can you say about Butterfly that you can't say about a hundred other grossly misrepresentative breakout hits? (Paging the Baha Men!)

They did a complete break from the freewheeling, genre-hopping styling of their debut album, apparently wanting to stick to their roots. The result is a fairly powerful, slightly not-work-safe outing from start to finish that...well, it sounds very similar to P.O.D.'s Satellite, in style if not in theology. Nothing earth-shaking or overly controversial, but then, that's never what they were going for.

This is an sophomore album that's a lot different from the first, which is good, but shoots more toward the mainstream which...well, it's not bad, but you expect a *little* more from a band that really had nothing to lose.

4 out of 5 stars To quote below: 'Deserved a Better Fate".. however........2005-12-28

Crazy Town holds a special place in my heart. I think they are the only caucasian rap-rock group that were ever acceptable lyrically, and flow-wise enough to be even considered hip-hop.

Shifty Shellshock and Epic Mazur flip bushels of multies on this, especially on songs like 'Change'.

The vocals are amazingly improved over the last album, and this is a surprisingly sober, mature, and even sometimes, a beautiful album. TO examine the songs is redundant to me now because I all have personal memory attachments to them. But what I can say is Drowning never grows old, the harder edge songs such as 'Take it to the Bridge' and 'Wasting Time' stay sharp even after the release hits it's effects.

Then Crazy Town does something different at the end.. (well, not Crazy Town....).. this foreshadows what was to become of Shifty Shellshock, the bonus track (#23) forget the tracklisting after having the album three years.. lol.. but it's actually a fun, funky, driving banger with a cute, yet mature instrumental.. then (#32) - Them Days, is a straight up hip-hop lyric fest, which is actually impressive.

Pick this album up.

Shifty released a stellar yet extremely undersold album following this release entitled 'Happy Love Sick'. That album spawned of the smash single 'Slide Along Slide', the lukewarm followup 'Turning Me On'.. and the best Shifty Shellshock recording commited to audio in 'Lolita'.

4 out of 5 stars Deserved a better fate.......2005-03-10

Just when I thought Crazy Town had recovered from the "Butterfly" incident they broke up but left an amazing album behind. "Darkhorse" is the crazytown that should have made it big but critics decided to kill this band. Don't listen to the bad wrap, buy this album you wont be disappointed. It's not as much rapping and suprisingly more rock in certain songs. It's a wide range of music and an awsome CD that shoulda been more than what it was let to be.

1 out of 5 stars Tal-ent-LESS.......2005-01-22

"Drowning" is descent, the rest is garbage. Sounds like a bunch of white boys writing cliched hip-hop songs w/ their token black friend reminding um' not to use the word n#gga. Its a step up from their previous work, "Da GiFt Of GaMe" (or whatever the f**k it was called) but that ain't saying much. It's too bad they didn't build on the sound used in their single, it could have actually been a good album, like "lovehatetragedy" by P.roach...

3 out of 5 stars crazy town what happen .......2004-12-28

they don't sound like in their debut album probably because ther is less rapping but they sound good after all .if you lke the first album buy this one y'all.this album is more for cxt fanatics.

DJ Crazy Toones has long been a staple in the West Coast rap scene. Most of you West Coast fans should already know that he was a member of The Maad Circle along with his older brother W.C. and is Ice Cube's personal DJ. It’s been a while since we all heard anything major coming from Crazy Toones. But while he was keeping a low profile, he was also building and devising a plan to take over the Los Angeles Mixtape scene and turn that world upside down. The CT experience is the product of his mastermind to do just that.

Traffic Entertainment Group and Warlock Records are proud to announce the highly anticipated reissue of Stezo’s “Crazy Noise”. Though “Crazy Noise” is considered a high point of Hip Hop’s golden age, Stezo actually kicked off his career as a dancer for Hip Hop heavyweights EPMD during the “Strictly Business” tour. It was in this role Stezo grabbed the attention of EPMD’s label, Fresh Records. “Crazy Noise” is chalk full of crafty rhymes and original loops, most notably the incredible Skull Snaps drum loop used on the single “It’s My Turn“. The Skull Snaps were a little known British funk outfit from the 70s who’s choice drum break at the beginning of their song “It’s A New Day” was the foundation for “It’s My Turn”. The loop was unearthed by Stezo’s cousin Dooley-O and his friend Chris Lowe... and the term unearthed is almost literal. Dooley-O and Lowe were lucky enough to find the record in a New Haven basement. The Skull Snaps beat first used on this recording went on to be the backbone of everything from Gang Starr’s “Take It Personal” to Black Moon’s “Who Got The Props” This is a massive beat and one of the reasons “Crazy Noise” is must have for any fan of quality Hip Hop.

4 out of 5 stars A Rare Gem of Golden Age Hip-Hop.......2007-03-20

Stezo, aka Stezo-E, (real name: Steve Williams), was a Connecticut native turned Brooklyn transplant whose hip-hop aspirations led him to become a dancer for hip-hop group EPMD. Leaving the group's auspices shortly after the "Run's House" tour of 1988, he was signed by Sleeping Bag/Fresh Records, and became a labelmate to his former crew. In 1989, "Crazy Noise" was released, to great acclaim in hip-hop circles and major spins on hip-hop friendly radio. Unfortunately, Sleeping Bag/Fresh would end up declaring bankruptcy in 1990, thus short-circuiting Stezo's career momentum. He would not make another mainstream album, but this LP is fondly remembered as a "done in one" snapshot. Production is credited to the artist (and during the LP Stezo shouts-out to partners DJ Jimmy Slice & Chris Cos), though legendary, late hip-hop producer Paul C apparently had quite a bit of input on the album. Samples are plenty here, with breakbeats and riffs that have become trademarks of the Golden Era sound. Standout tracks on the 12-cut album include "Bring The Horns", "Freak The Funk", "Talking Sense", and "Getting Paid", among others. "Girl Trouble", in the tradition of EPMD's "Jane", is a tale of misadventures with the opposite sex. The instrumental "Jimmy's Getting Funky" gives Stezo's turntable man the spotlight--a common practice in this era of hip-hop. The most remembered cut on the album is "It's My Turn", a just-under 4-minute jam that samples the legendary rhythm track `Skull Snaps' (George Clinton's `Atomic Dog' should also be mentioned). Stezo's MC skills hold up with other rappers from this period- like EPMD, there are some occasional mispronunciations, and he isn't as intricate as golden-age gods like Rakim or Big Daddy Kane. Still, his workman-like flow keeps the beat, mostly avoids profanity, and steers clear of thug excesses that rap would become known for. This has been out of print for years, but Traffic does a good job on the re-release. Though they could have put some bonus material on here (perhaps some 12" sides), this is a can't miss for people who appreciate rap from a simpler time.

    5 out of 5 stars A 1989 classic.......2005-11-25

I remember buying this on cassette tape back in 89. I recently purchased it and I mush say a missed classic. Crazy Noise, Stezo's debut and only album he recorded with the hit single "It's My Turn" was all over the radio during the summer of 89. To bad he didn't follow up with a 2nd album, he was a good talent
