In spirit, this is a wonderful CD. The music is soothing and the instructions are very good for accomplishing the goal of the CD. Unfortunately I find the guy's voice so annoying I have given up listening to it. Sad because the intent of the CD is clearly present. It's just his voice that gets on my nerves, which kind of defeats the purpose.

I have tried many types of meditation CDs and I found myself impatiently waiting for them to be over so I could go back to Barry.
The tempo and the wording is just right to lull my constantly thinking brain into a content, quiet rest. I needed to get away from sleep aids i.e. Tylenol PM and I found that this CD actually addresses the problem - I needed to stop my mind long enough for the rest of me to go to sleep.

I didn't think it would work!.......2006-02-27

As a very stressed individual at times, I rarely find things that help me calm down. This is one of the few. I really didn't think it would help the first time I used it because of the piano music, which seems upbeat (for lack of a better word) at times, but much to my surprise, after listening to the first track, I got up, and felt considerably less stressed, and more relaxed.

Why only 4 stars? It doesn't help me sleep. I find this perfect for mid-day meditations, and it works for those wonderfully. I see other reviewers enjoy this for sleep, so perhaps the problem is my own.

I purchased this CD after reading many reviews for different relaxation CD's here on Amazon.com...and what a great purchase!!! I used this at a very high anxiety time in my life when sleep was nearly impossible...it helped me to feel calm and relaxation finally came...for a while I used it daily...now I only use it on the rare occasion that I am having trouble falling asleep...and it always works!!! Thank you Barry Pitkoff!!!

My real gripe with this cd is that it is not mixed. Original Nuttah, Blow Out Jungle VIP, and Vibes are the hottest tunes on this cd.. All the other tracks are marginally allright.

damn. i picked this up at a used book store for a dollar. BOY was i happy. old Skool jungle at its finest. u instantly fall in love starting with the first song. A must have. my favorite CD as of late. Ive been listening to alot of Experimental Electronica such as Aphex Twin and it was starting to get a little old. but ever since this ive been on a DnB kick. check it out! top notch. Watch out for the Beast man!

Takes Me Back!.......2001-06-08

This CD provides a fundamental lesson in the earlier history of breakbeat. When Shy FX's "Original Nuttah" was released in August of 94 it was one of the hottest records on the scene. This track alone takes you back to the early days of yelling "REWIND!!".. and really set the mark for the evolution of Ragga-Jungle. If you buy this CD at all.. but it for the first track!

this album is one of my personal favs because of the drum loops and dope rhythms. clearly where DNB enters true jungle. finding it cheaper would be better though...

Beautifully Made, not the best selections.......2002-04-27

The theme music from Morse was my reason for buying this CD, and I was not disappointed. The CD gives the viewer the opening theme and the slightly longer closing theme (2:10 and 2:32, respectively).

I wasn't overly impressed with the other musical selections on the CD. They certainly are representative of music from the Morse television series, but the pieces selected didn't show a wide variety. And the original music composed specifically for the series never reaches the same level as the Morse Theme.

But the CD quality is excellent, and Morse fans who collect the music from the series won't be disappointed. This CD delivers what it promises.

I have been playing this cd, in repeat mode, for up to 6 hours a day at my office for many months. The music on this volume is more varied than on volume 2. It is the variety of classical music and the haunting and evocative theme that make this cd so extraordinary. This is the only cd I ever play that contains opera. Needless to say I yearn for more Morse shows, but in their absence I can make do with this cd.

Wonderful, relaxing, evocative soundtrack.......1999-05-04

We are in the process of ordering this CD plus Volumes 2 and 3 (which we have not yet heard). We had earlier purchased Cadfael -- another British TV series soundtrack, and this reminds us of that one. Very different style of music, but absolutely wonderful and uplifting to listen to.

sugarcubes greatest hits.......2007-01-10

I loved Bjork before but her older material is really raw and unflinching. I love it!

Great Title Album For A Great Crossover Band.......2005-04-02

I love the Sugarcubes! I think this is a pretty descent intro for those who aren't familiar with the Sugarcubes, or with the other great hits they had from the other 3 albums they had after "Life's Too Good." The only criticism i have for this album is that they could have at least done more tribute to the band, who pretty much were the FIRST band from Iceland to go international...thats a pretty big leap for Iceland whose still culturally growing and trying to create an image of the Icelandic experience. They could have had a least one picture, and a more coherent biography of the Sugarcube's history together. But the things that lack don't exceed the album itself. It's still an awesome collection that every serious Bjork fan should have.

Basic, but good........2003-06-09

Quite simply, 14 songs from 3 albums. Nothing new or live. However, many "hits" collections are weighed down by new and live tracks, so this may be a good thing. First five songs are from "Life's too good". Next four are from "Here today, tomorrow, next week". The last five are from "Stick around for joy". Being a collection, this of course includes "Birthday", "Regina", and "Hit". I could have had another track from the first album, but that's because it's my favorite. The biggest bummer to me is the insert. No song notes, a confusing band history, and not one photo, anywhere. I guess the music paints a pretty good picture though. This may not be as great as Bjorks solo stuff, but it's still sugary sweet.

This is the second review I've done on this particular hypnotist with the same criticism. He's way over the top on his delivery. His dramatic tone mixed with reverberation is too distracting to relax. Maybe that will work for you, but it didn't for me and I couldn't in good conscience recommend this CD.

Wonderful, absolutely wonderful!.......2007-04-11

I wasn't sure about this CD at first, but I figured it was worth the money if it worked. I tried it and I did enjoy the relaxing effect, but I still had my doubts about if it would help my studies and my memory. I have been so stressed about school and passing my exams. I kept using it everyday as a relaxation response so I could escape for a while from the reality of all my fears. Then test day came. I was feeling pretty self confident and self assured and each time I came to the next question, I had the answer immediately. I really don't even feel I studied that hard to know everything on the test as it was a challenging test. But I not only passed, I got an A. Now I swear by this CD and listen to it everyday or just when stressed about school and passing. And I am doing fine Doctor Love. Great CD, Works wonders for me! I highly recommend it!

In my eyes, this is one of the most powerful songs from the Call To Arms LP, it is also one of my favourites. The B-side of SOUL BE FREE is a more traditional Sick Of It All track, with lots of speed and controlled aggression. the second B-side; LET GO, the first track on Call To Arms, is the perfect opener for an album, quick and catchy, and also a perfect B-side. If you want me to recomend a Sick Of It All single, this is the one to get.

THE B SIDE OF SOUL BE FREE IS A MORE TRADITIONAL SICK OF IT ALL TRACK, WITH LOTS OF SPEED AND AGGRESSION. THE SECOND B SIDE; LET GO, THE FIRST TRACK ON CALL TO ARMS, IS THE PERFECT OPENER FOR AN ALBUM, QUICK AND CATCHY, AND ALSO A PERFECT B SIDE. Has techno now come so far that its mavens are heading the way of prog rockers of old and heavy metalists with hubris? That might seem to be the case with Jeff Mills, the Detroit techno-denizen who has now followed in the symphonic footsteps of Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Metallica. On this live recording from the Pont du Gard, France, he takes a seat, or rather table, right on stage with the Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Alain Altinoglu. It shouldn't work, but it does. More than techno-gone-orchestral, Mills is revealed as something of a minimalist composer in the vein of Philip Glass or John Adams, who provided the early inspiration of loop-based electronica. Adapting many of his older pieces like "The March," Mills--with the help, I'm sure, of arranger Thomas Roussel--shows a gift for the swirl of coloration available from an orchestral palette. While Mills mixes in beats, horn blasts replace sampled orchestral stabs and xylophone and marimba play melodic cycles live that would normally come off a sequencer or loop. These aren't the marauding beats of Mills' early music in the 90s. Songs like "4 Art" and "Entrance to Metropolis" don't even have rhythm tracks. Instead, the orchestra elicits a lighter, more buoyant sound which exposes elements of Aaron Copland and Ira Gershwin when transferred to the orchestra. You can hear that on "The Bells," whose original incarnation was raw and pounding, but you'd now half expect it to segue into Copland's "Billy the Kid." "Sonic Destroyer" emerges as a likely candidate to replace Bernstein's "When You're a Jet." If you think playing CDs, computers, and synthesizers live is a breeze, just watch the accompanying DVD of the full concert and see how manic Mills seems next to the assured calm of the orchestral players. --John Diliberto
