GIACANA
Javon “Giacana” Major at 18 years young is Spanish Harlem’s greatest talent…and the featured “UNSIGNED HYPE” artist in The Source magazine August 2000 issue (with Wyclef Jean on the cover). Giacana was also featured on the television show, The Source Sound Lab where he demolished his competition in the M.C. Battle (which remarkably aired 6 times) and is the first and only unsigned rap artist to perform a live web-caste on FUBU.com November 14th, 2000. He’s a personal favorite of Carlito Rodriguez (Editor-In-Chief of The Source magazine) and Gotti who states, “…A&R’s shouldn’t hesitate to get a prescription or else they might see his album out in stores on someone else’s label.” This half Black, half Puerto Rican young man raised in a single household since his father deserted the family at the age of seven is ready for BIG THINGS with his win-by-any-means-approach.
Giacana has been writing and rapping since he was 12 years young, so writing a hot verse in a hot minute is nothing but exercise. He is the wisest and most creative 18-year young you’re going to meet. His charisma and the thirst to share his art with the world is evident upon experiencing a verse in person. In fact, one verse at a local Spanish Harlem restaurant to The Late Great Big Pun got him a management contract offer, stage time at numerous New York City night clubs, and the opportunity to perform with the Terror Squad in Miami during the Super Bowl XXXIII weekend. He’s been heating up the underground circuit with numerous hot verses on various mix tapes. Ask DJ S&S, DJ Vic Smooth, DJ Cool Kid, and Spanish Harlem’s own DJ Kay Slay (4x and counting). Giacana has also recently been featured on The Rucker Soundtrack, musicsnippet.com, Flavazurbanworld.com and Fubu.com to name a few.
