The term Irish tenor may be fraught with as many wrong-headed, anachronistic characterizations as any phrase in music. But Ronan Tynan not only returns here to the PBS airwaves that helped spread his fame as a member of the Irish Tenors trio, but he overturns a few clichés while delivering a live concert (recorded at the Royal Dublin Society in June 2002) that encompasses everything from Broadway and pop chestnuts to Italian operatic repertoire. Tynan rewards Irish traditions old and new (a medley of Brian Kennedy's and U2's "Life, Love & Happiness"/"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For") and even makes left turns into folkie songstress territory (Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now," Sarah McLachlan's "Angel"). Backed by RTE Orchestra, the unlikely international star invests himself completely in all of it, his strong, crystalline voice playing off the traditions, while forging strong new bonds with the contemporary. --Jerry McCulleyCustomer Reviews:

Album Description
The Cantamus Girls Choir are a 40 strong female choir whose members are between 13 and 19 from the town of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. They have been a local institution since the choir was first formed 38 years ago. They continue to be an inspiration to a community that has suffered in recent years. In an age where we are bombarded by images of teenage pregnancy, drug taking and binge drinking, here is a window on another world of genuine youthful Endeavour, exuberance and dedication. There are sponsored sings and carol concerts to help fund the cost of hiring the coach that takes the choir to recitals all over the UK and Europe. This is no amateur operation, however. Through the network of helpers, voice coaches and relentless rehearsals, this is a multi award-winning group. They are currently the Olympic Choral Champions - a competition which involves 150 choirs from 45 countries. EMI. 2005.Album Details

Destined to be the next Classic Rock album.......2006-01-23
20th Century Guitar Magazine's January 2006 Review of the Debut Album:
"One of the finest pop-rock bands to come out of Brooklyn and Long Island in recent memory, Closenuf released their self-titled CD debut in 2005 on their own Wreckords Records imprint. Blessed with a convincing lead singer in Anthony J. Foti, the five-piece lineup also spotlights guitarist Ron Pitkin and keyboardist/vocalist Adam Vicelich. Musically, Foti & company excel in a hard rocking, wide screen, early `60s-inspired vision of a sound Phil Spector would, no doubt, have approved of. The crack rhythm section of Trey Roper (drums) and Henry McDonagh III (bass) round out the group lineup. Reminiscent of The Cars, with a retro touch of The Ramones and Velvet Underground, the Closenuf album is well recorded and rocks on an artful musical level."
Closenuf Pre-Nominated for a 2006 Grammy Award:
"On 10/21/05, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has placed CLOSENUF (Anthony J. Foti & Adam Vicelich - Producers) on the official ballot for the 2006 Grammy Awards for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s) for "Music Man" (track 3 on their debut album on Wreckords Records)."
GarageBand.com's August 2005 Reviewer Awards for "Take It From Me" (track 6):
"Best Keyboards in Modern Rock Category, week of August 29th, 2005;
Best Beat in Modern Rock Category, week of August 22nd, 2005;
Best Drums in Modern Rock Category, week of August 22nd, 2005;
Best Keyboards in Modern Rock Category, week of August 22nd, 2005."
Steve Jerome, Award winning producer and recording engineer's August 16th, 2005 Review of the Debut Album:
"First off, I have to state that this band is very, very good and their potential level is very high. When asked who they remind me of, all I can say is that they have their own sound, and when I hear a band with an original sound, the record companies and public will seek them out. I can't say how much I love this album. I give "Alive Forever" (track 5) a 10 [out of 10] for hit potential. Don't ask me why, in my gut I just know. I give "Lose Yourself" (track 8) an 8 for it really rocks. "In the Eyes of the Rose" (track 12) gets a 9 and is also an absolute hit, as well as my favorite song on the album! "Buy the Boat" (track 14) gets a 10 being a very, very solidly good cut - catchy to the point where people just can't turn away. And "Four Days" (track 15) gets another 10 as the group's versatility is shown and the range of their repertoire comes shining through. Something you just don't find with today's bands. Their musicianship is excellent overall, and the album is recorded very well - I only wish I could have been in on a project like this. In my personal opinion, once this work gets to the airwaves, it makes a statement to the listeners of the group's potential which makes one look forward to their next release."
Mike SOS, Music Critic for Americore, Skratch, Crusher & Ear Candy Magazines' July 30th, 2005 Review of the Debut Album:
"Closenuf is a NYC outfit whose middle of the road approach to rock is suitable for all ages, based on the outfit's 15-track disc. Sounding like a cross between Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Billy Joel, and Grand Funk Railroad, this quintet's pristine sound and stellar performances shine on tracks like the hypnotic "At Night" (track 10) and the atmospheric "All the Same" (track 13). Aimed with a lighter approach, and armed with accomplished musicians whose musical prowess harkens back to the days of the soft rock of the `70s, Closenuf is a band that you and your older relatives would probably agree on. [Album given 3 Lightning Bolts on their rating system for "Moments of Brilliance."]."
