SUPA!.......2007-04-14
I picked this cd up after hearing a single freestyle from a mixtape like 2 years before this dropped and knew I had to have it. Im so pleased w/ this album (and all of supas music) that everytime I listen to it I like it a little more. One of those cds you can just pop in and listen till it's over. I just got deadline in the mail today and it's not even in the same league as this album and still better than most cds Ive listened to this year. You can see how he really strives for greatness and is constantly evolving. A true masterpeice and future classic!
Supastition - ur favorite mc's favorite mc!!!.......2006-12-27
If you dont know Supastition by now, get familiar, because he is easily in the top 5 mc's out there. This album shows and proves his mic skills over and over throughout each track. This is a must buy for anyone trying to keep that "real hip-hop" alive. You'll have this in ur cd player for a long time after you buy it, trust me. "That's why they hate my face..."
(4+HALF) More mc's should be writing CHAIN LETTERS!!.......2006-09-28
After getting his previous album "The Deadline" and loving it, this really was a no-brainer for me to pick this up. What i genuinely didnt expect was that he would out-do that. The one thing that constantly improves on each of his albums is the production. I personally thought that the weak point on his debut "7years of bad luck" was the production so when he hooked up with Illmind & M-Phases for "The Deadline" i was very pleased. This time round he's stayed with those 2 amazing beatsmiths and added Jake 1 and the very talented Nicolay. Add that to his own producer Madwreck and you have a roster of killer producers that are guaranteed to give a lyricist of Supa's calibre the perfect platform to rip. And that is exactly what he does, on every last track!!! He also widens his spectrum of topics this time round and goes into detail about relationships, materialistic people, cheating, the state of hiphop and a whole host of others. Tracks like "Don't Stop", "Rise", "That Ain't Me", "Hate My Face" (my favourite), "Aint Going Out", "100%", "Yesterday Everyday", "Nickled Needles" and "Appreciation" are all huge strong anthems where the atate of hiphop and the constant doubters are his influence. And believe me he articulates his sentences with panache and integrity and totally full of emotion everytime. Tracks like "Split Decisions", "Special Treatment", "Baby Story" and both versions of "Soul Control" are much deeper and meaningful. The remaining tracks kinda feel abit like they're fillers and dont stand out BUT they are still better than alotta the tracks in hiphop today so thats saying something. This boy really is something special and as hiphop fans we need to support artists like these. Go cop it a.s.a.p.

The first thing that jumps out about this album is the fact that Supastition finally has production that will do his unique flow justice. Supa takes his listeners on a journey through everyday life with lyrics that are heartfelt and earnest. Whether he's asking his ex-girlfriend to take him back or recounting his journey to get signed you'll feel like you're standing right there with him through it all. With help from beatsmiths like Illmind, Nicolay, Jake One, Madwreck, and M-Phazes, the production has more meat for Supa to sink his teeth into this time around. Chain Letters is a nod to the true school while progressive in its attempt to return hip hop to its golden roots. Guests include Little Brother, Nonameko, D Minor, Seven, and Can Tell
Standout Tracks: Ain't Goin' Out (Like That), That Ain't Me, Split Decisions, 100% (My Favorite), Soul Control feat. Little Brother, Appreciation, Rise, A Baby Story feat. Nonameko, Special Treatment, and Don't Stop
