Product Description
Airoes is an ex member of PORTRAIT. Airoes is Jeph Burgoon. Jeph Burgoon has been an illustrious and interesting figure on the underground Atlanta DIY scene for the past eight plus years. Jeph was the emotive vocalist of Portrait, the drummer for the kossabone red, the drummer for Shake Off! and is the current drummer for Electrosleep International. However for the past three years (starting in 2001) his main project has been the black aux/airoes. With the imminent demise of portrait on the horizon, jeph decided that he needed a change in musical direction, so he started venturing in the realm of electronic music under the moniker of the black aux. After a year of playing house shows to three people, the black aux split into the black aux and airoes. The black aux became jeph and leslie grace and after the split the black aux dazzled audiences for about six to nine months with jephs bass driven poppy but very dancy devo meets kraftwerk in a blender sound! complete with Leslie Graces vocals. The black aux has been on permanent hold for the past two years due to lifes complexities, but by no means is the black aux officially over. It could be revived at any time. Airoes is the bastard offspring of the black aux. While the black aux focused on the poppier, softer side of jephs burgeoning electronic talent, airoes kept it punk. Initially airoes pummeled the listener with thirty to sixty seconds songs of outright harsh music that sounded like the bastard child of merzbow meets hip hop covering abba. Needless to state that shows were an maelstrom of bodies and all sorts of flying objects including lit fireworks and cds. We are seriously surprised nobody went to the hospital. Over the past two years Jeph mastered and fine tuned airoes songs. The problem was that while the live show was over the top, on record the songs were definitely lacking and jeph did not want to fall into the "atom and his package i will only listen to the cd once" realm of music. After two years of evolving, airoes has now entered the recorded realm. This cd features sixteen tracks of pure airoes insanity. Airoes sound has matured into a virtual amalgamation of merzbow, abba, hip hop, dat politics, blectum from blechdom, I am spoonbender and more complete with a total punk rawk spasticness. The last song on this cd is a cover of "werewolves in London". Also featured on this cd is "rabbit economics" which is a massive fifteen minute blast of airoes remixing blame game. Intense.
