5 out of 5 stars Music for people with alot of Culture!.......1999-04-17

This music isn't for those who like GOOD music. It is almost packed with "Archeological" sound, no doubt Praetzel's career is evident. Buy this CD, you won't be disapointed!

My mother bought the CD a while ago, and we've listen to it allmost every other day since. Music like this dosn't come along very often!

5 out of 5 stars Truly original and mystical.......1998-12-13

My friend described this CD perfectly! She said every song was like a Shaman's journey. I couldn't have described it better myself! His other CDs are also great. I would like to hear more from him.

5 out of 5 stars Truely fine music........1998-11-25

This is wonderfully atmospheric music. It takes you so many places! Although the pieces have an ethnic sound they are created electronically. Conrad has a new CD out called "Receive." I'm looking for it.

5 out of 5 stars Saturday morning reading music with a cappuccino.......1998-08-24

While visiting the Grand Canyon 2 years ago, this CD was playing in one of the "nature" shops I was browsing through - which is where I purchased my copy. This music is of a mystical type, very earthy, soothing and intriguing to listen to. I looked up Conrad Praetzel hoping to find that he had made another CD that I could order. Alas, he has not, but I whole-heartedly recommend this CD to anyone who likes "different" stuff. And, Conrad, if your're reading.....PLEASE MAKE MORE!

          Album Description

Klaus Schulze first attracted attention as a member of the German progressive rock band, Tangerine Dream. Following the release of their debut LP, Electronic Meditation, he departed for a solo career. Klaus' recorded work typically features extended pieces sometimes filling an entire album built around computer-generated synthesizers and other specially programmed electronic effects. Klaus Schulze remains a cult figure in the United States, where the bulk of his prolific output has until now been available only through the import bins. He is widely considered an avant-garde mainstay as well as a founding father of both the new-age space music and electronica genres. En=Trance was originally released as a double LP with one track on each of the four vinyl sides, FM Delight being the most popular of the tracks. In 1988, the year of it's release, it was also voted Hit Of The Year on German radio. These eighteen minutes of FM Delight were played and recorded by Klaus in one take during the night of his 40th birthday.

            5 out of 5 stars Surprise- Great!.......2003-09-28

I'd read a lot of bad reviews on this album and was completely surprised to hear how good it was. One of his best 80's recordings. Flowing, symphonic, awesome. Its not a real step forward which maybe why they hammered it? But it's close to the seventies classic era and many tracks are Klaus at his his most interesting and floaty. Real rich and synth spiritual. Good stuff!

5 out of 5 stars best of 80's.......2003-04-17

Comparing to other 80's KS albums, I consider this one to be the best. All the 5 pieces are equilibred varying from spacial music to powerfull sequencers (velvet system). FM delight is strange combination starting with a Whannfried like part and then continuing "in crescendo" towards a dynamic rithmic ending.
With this album, KS begins to produce what I call "pure sounds", sounds you can find later in the early 90's albums (In Blue, Mediteranean pads, beyond recall).
So, worth to have it, even for beginners in KS!

4 out of 5 stars Good, polished, rhythmical meditation music.......1999-10-22

This is the last CD of Schulze 80's style. In some sense it is just a continuation, not a entrance into new world of sounds. Four dynamic pieces with all necessary monononous Schulzian music that we used to like. Together with "Dreams" and "Interface" it is a represetnative sample of his polished 80's music. Good to buy a bundle with the other CD, which is now available in the US.

3 out of 5 stars somewhat underachieving prog set with a big name round-up.......2002-04-22

You can probably count on one hand the number of grade-A compilations from tune factories Ministry of Sound, Cream, and the like. They're not striving for critical acclaim, aiming instead to please the greatest amount of people with A&R researched music. Which is fine since that's what you buy `em for anyway. Some cheese is expected but no filler tracks, just the hits that tickle your fancy bits.

Punte En El Mar supposedly represents the "beach bar grooves from around the world," which really means a big heap of tribally house numbers from all the usual suspects. Peace Division beat their drums, Circus Night and Dirty Vegas do the same but with tiger screams and garbled vocals. The nondescript Disc two veers more progressive/trance with the usual Global Underground faces.

Highlights are all on disc one. Kevin Yost's "Conquistadors" goes balearic with perky conga beats, while CocoDaSilva work "@Night" into a throbbing primetime track even with the C&C Music Factory samples. Circulation, DJV, Stylus Trouble and others also get the nod. Disc two has starlets "Fever Rising," "It's Gonna Be," and "I Feel Loved," but surely you have these by now?

Lowlights? Deep Dish/BT/Danny Tenaglia vastly overproduce the mediocre "Stranded," and Cevin Fisher's embarrassing "My Shadow" may be crowned the corniest cut of the year. Dropping Romananthony's potty-mouth (and nothing special track) would have saved them the Parental Advisory sticker.

Should you get it? The sequencing is shoddy, and the presence of too many hits with too few breather cuts dilutes some of the big moment impact. Less would be more, but that's not the point, eh? So approach this as the Hollywood equivalent of a summer popcorn flick and you'll be duly entertained for two hours.
