On their third album, Disturbed don't as much break out of expected patterns as show their potential for doing so. Fans eager for more of the band's patented fist-thumping gruel will take satisfaction in the album's opening (and anthemic) title track, plus "I'm Alive" and "Forgiven." The band shines brightest in the record's early moments, where "Deify," "Guarded," "Just Stop," and "Stricken" demonstrate that this unit's capable of discovering a song's subtleties and crafting radio-ready choruses meant to uplift the souls of disenfranchised subdivision dwellers. The album isn't without its problems--come the halfway mark ("Sons of Plunder") vocalist David Draiman and his mates lapse into the expected, with a series of songs that are good but rarely as remarkable as those found in Act I. That said, Ten Thousand Fists ultimately reminds us that Disturbed refuse to relent in their journey toward greatness. --Jedd Beaudoin
Album Description
After a triple-platinum debut and platinum follow-up, Disturbed fuses the brutality and darkness of 2000's The Sickness with the added melodic nature and complexity of 2002's Believe for album number three. Aggressive, relentless and intense-yet at the same time transcendent-Ten Thousand Fists is a rock sledgehammer.

As of today, June 27, I still have not received this item after being charged for it back in May.
gotta love disturbed.......2007-06-20
I have to start this admitting that Disturbed is my all-time favorite Band. There is just nobody out there that makes better music that fits ME and
David's Vocals still give me the chills! I personally never understood the criticism they received after "Believe" came out and also after "Then Thousand Fists". I think all three of the albums are strong and great!
Ten Thousand Fists features a great array of songs...which my favorite one must be Deify...even though it may be seen as a little too political it's a great tune with an awesome meaning!!! The biggest surprise on this album was to me was "Stricken"... anybody that has ever been hurt by somebody (and I know we pretty much all have been :-) should be easily able to identify this song!
Can't wait for the next Album to come out!!!
A Classic.......2007-06-19
Simply a Classic Hard Rock Cd! Don't take my word, Listen for yourself! You won't be Dissappointed!
10k Fists rox my sox off.......2007-05-17
The thing about Disturbed is you either love them madly, or hate them completely. There is no middle ground.
Having said that, I saw Disturbed in concert about a month before this CD was released, and they played many of the songs from the CD during the show. Having "Believe" practically committed to memory (I've bought it 3 times because I wore out the first two), I was hoping that Ten Thousand Fists was more of the same.
It was better than I expected. I was blown away! One song I don't recall them playing in concert was the Genesis cover "Land of Confusion". If a cover can be better than the original, then this is the one that did it! All the songs are good, even the political ones, and gets me going every time I pop the CD into the player.
What impresses me the most about Disturbed is how intelligent David Draiman is, and it shows in his lyrics. The musicians are clearly skilled and compliment Draiman's lyrics and powerful vocals. And I do have to agree with the reviewer that said the "monkey howl" or whatever the devil that vocalization is that Draiman does, doesn't translate in a live performance (not that he doesn't try).
I'm not your typical metal fan. I do, however, like to rock, and always have. The two Disturbed discs I have (Believe and Ten Thousand Fists) do that for me-- in other words, rox my sox off!
I could, as others here have done, rate each song, but since they're all good for any number of reasons, I'll refrain.
And, I've always maintained that once you see an act in concert, you'll become a fan. I liked Disturbed before i saw them in concert. Since then, I'm a fan! And I love this CD.
Disturbed...Best Band W/O excessive Hardcore Screams.......2007-04-25
The only regret I have about getting this album is that I waited so long to get it. Disturbed's 1st album, The Sickness, was awesome. The CD was one of the first that got me into metal and rarely left my CD player. When Believe came out I got it 1st day. I was slightly dissappointed because it was a little softer and his "monkey scream" subsided. Because of this dissappointment I did not get 10000 Fists when it came out. It wasn't until seeing the rockin at Ozzfest once again and hearing the new songs played that my eyes were opened. I was worried at first but the second the band left the stage at Ozzfest I knew I had to get that CD.
Needless to say I bought the album ASAP and have not regretted it one bit. Disturbed is the only band that does not scream that I can listen to over and over again and not get bored with.

this was a cd for my son so i cant really say about the music
VERY impressed.......2007-06-07
Not many bands these days can claim a triple-platinum debut CD, yet that's exactly what Disturbed has done with their debut CD. The Sickness is Disturbed's most imaginative CD to date. With nu-metal on the decline, it's just a testament as to how good Disturbed actually is. The Sickness has everything: hard riffs, the scat for which Draiman would become so famous, and everything else that makes Disturbed the greatest band... well, ever. Here's my breakdown of (my opinion only) the best songs on The Sickness:
- The Game: An excellent little number with riffs that just draw you right in; plus, Draiman's amazing voice is shown off here. 20/10
- Meaning of Life: An awesome little number that had to grow on me before I realized just how friggin sweet it was. 20/10
- Shout 2000: Yes, it is another Disturbed cover, this time of "Shout" by Tears for Fears. And yet this is an absolutely amazing song, one that really works live. 19.5/10
- The Sickness: Lead single from the CD and probably their most famous song to date. Very metal-y and comes with an interesting little conversation between a son and his abusive mother. 15/10
Other good songs: Stupify, Voices, the rest of the album
DISTURBED FOREVER!!!
I still enjoy this...........2007-05-29
While not as good as they were back in the days, Disturbed is a great band and none of their CDs have failed to disappoint me (except maybe "Ten Thousand Fists"). While not as good as "Believe," (my favorite Disturbed album) their 2000 release "The Sickness" was one of the most psychotic and best albums to rage out of the nu-metal genre, as well as one of the heaviest. No album that came out during the nu-metal era, except maybe Mudvayne's "L.D. 50," (and I really don't consider that one nu-metal) could surpass the brutality and anger that "The Sickness" possessed. Overall, even if you don't like the nu-metal genre, you have to give props to "The Sickness" for what it is: a rock 'em-sock 'em roller coaster of a ride which you won't be disappointed with!
Quick Scorebook of the Songs:
1. Voices - 5/5
2. The Game - 5/5
3. Stupify - 5/5
4. Down with the Sickness - 5/5 (still a great tune after all these years!)
5. Violence Fetish - 5/5
6. Fear - 5/5
7. Numb - 5/5
8. Want - 5/5
9. Conflict - 5/5
10. Shout 2000 - 5/5 (a much better cover than "Land of Confusion")
11. Droppin Plates - 5/5
12. Meaning of Life - 5/5
HIGHLIGHTS: "Voices," "The Game," "Stupify," "Fear," "Numb," "Shout 2000," and "Meaning of Life."
Great cd.......2007-04-15
While I enjoyed this cd when I was younger, I still find it catchy today. Its not as hard as most of the music I enjoy today but still a great listen. Its like Kerry King said: You listen to a nu metal band like Distured or Godsmack but then you crave something harder. He's right and thank god I found out about Slayer.
Great Cd.......2007-01-11
If your a head banger you'll love this cd. Lot of good songs on it.

The Windy City alt-metal provocateurs Disturbed surprised everyone when their debut, The Sickness, sold over 2 million copies. Here, once again, the band's imperious chrome-domed vocalist David Draiman bleats out the band's messages of nonconformity, self-empowerment, and individuality with a passion and ferocity that hasn't been heard since the '60s--though there's little room for peace, love, and understanding in Disturbed's world. Instead, Draiman laces the band's message with equal parts rage, disgust, and menace, all delivered in a thundering voice that alternates from the lyrical to the grizzled. Ozzy Osbourne has called Disturbed the "future of metal," and he might be right; they have almost single-handedly plucked the genre out of the aggro dung heap and fueled it with intelligence. The band is just as aggressive here as on their debut, but they've lost some of their dark angst, and as a result have created a melodic, psychically lighter album, despite the fact that the CD kicks off with "Prayer," a conversation between Draiman and God, inspired by the singer's grandfather's death. --Jaan Uhelszki

For all those stupid people put there..........2007-05-09
Ok, first off, I'm not 13, I'm 18 and I was just looking around on Amazon for some cds, and I noticed some of the reviews on the Disturbed cds...the people who support this, I salute you, and for the people who don't...grrr...the people who say that its the same thing over and over, it's not! You don't hear the same guitar or the beat, and the people who say they have no talent, you go ahead and try to do that scream David does on, "Down with the Sickness.", I hope your throat bleeds when you try, because his does every concert...why on earth would someone do that every time, and might risk their speech? It's because they care so much about the band, and David wants to express his feelings so much to everyone on what kind of s*** he has gone through in his life...so to all of you Disturbed fans, let's push them aside, and keep going...
Distubed rocks-just not this time........2007-04-23
I love the other disturbed albums-this one though is somthing of a letdown. with the exeption of "liberate" its the same tune from begining to end.
Not great.
I love ten thousand fists though that whole album is teriffic!
Not my cup of tea !.......2007-04-18
Sorry but I don't like this, always the same distorded guitar, always the same riff, feel like it was the same song from the beginning 'til the end, poorly done !
Believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-10-21
This is the weakest cd from DISTURBED but still Great. The reason I give it 5 stars for songs like prayer, remember and Liberate. It keeps it up there.
Reminiscent of the Lie.......2006-10-13
Disturbed was the band that introduced me into the genre of Rock and Heavy Metal when I heard songs from their first album, The Sickness, from the most unlikely sorce: Dragonball Z. Yes, Dragonball Z. Once I realized there was something better than cheesy video game music, I headed to the store and picked up my first ever CD: Believe. To be honest, at first the only thing that mattered was that it was heavy and it was loud. Since then, I have understood more behind the album and its lyrics.
After seeing the horrific events of 9/11 and the death of his own grandfather, singer David Draiman decided to pay tribute to both by writing more spiritual lyrics to go along with more melodic metal and returning to his Jewish, yes Jewish, faith. The album symbol itself is comprised of 4 religious symbols, including the Star of David and the Pentagram. It is not only the lyrics that have a spiritual theme. There is actually a very well written and inspiring piece of writing zig-zagging down the middle of the album booklet that is a very interesting read, even if you're typically not the kind of person to do that.
The problem that most fans of The Sickness may have is that there is no "Stupify" or "Down With the Sickness" on this album. The most upbeat and wild song on the entire album would probably be "Liberate" which is actually very well edited in the amended version, substituting "Motherf***er" for "Mothermother" and still sounding roughly the same. Other heavier songs that old Disturbed fans may appreciate include "Prayer," "Rise" and "Intoxication." The final track of the disc, "Darkness," is a softer, more melodic piece that many fans may be disappointed with or may love deeply.
Final Word: If you're new to Disturbed, try either The Sickness or Ten Thousand Fists before trying this one to experience the true power of Disturbed's music. That doesn't mean a little melody and deeper, more insightful lyrics don't make a album bad. However, the effect is much more felt on the follow-up album, Ten Thousand Fists, where the melody and lyrics are fused with the raw power of The Sickness. Very good, but Disturbed is capable of much more.

Good work, but a computer is needed to see everything..........2007-01-16
A few months back my local FM rock station played Disturbed's version of "Land of Confusion". I thought it was one of the better covers I've heard over the years; many bands do them with wildly varying results. It often boils down to how competent and how self-assured the cover band is. Since I have both heard the original Genesis version of "Land of Confusion" and seen the original video I was curious what Disturbed's video would look like. Disturbed's video was similar to Genesis' only in its relating to the period in which it was made; otherwise it's a much angrier, darker video than the original. Also, unlike the original puppet nightmare sequence Disturbed's uses traditional animation with much more violence. In my view, it's one of the better covers in recent memory. The other thing to be aware of is that a computer might be needed to play the video; my home DVD player registers it as a CD and to view the video content I have to use my computer. Still, even knowing what I know, if I had it to do over I'd buy this disc again.

good CD.......2007-07-07
The other artists (besides disturbed) I liked and ended up getting some of their CD's so if you like metal and don't know all the bands on this you may want to get it or if you just don't have the majority of these songs already.
Great, great, great, bad.......2005-11-29
Vocals were great, music was great and seeing songs of this particular album live is great. The only thing lacking is the lyrical ability, which is geared more towards words that sound good screamed, as opposed to words that sound good together. This 2004 album was released by Reprise label, and contains juicy explicit lyrics. This may not contain the bands legacy of The Sickness, but is defintily a must have in any Disturbed fan's collection. [...]
only 2 good bands.......2004-03-25
well... where to start. My brother brings this contraption home and pops it in the cd player. I thought the intro instrumental was pretty cool and i was pumped for more and disturbed did deliver. However, in my opinion chevelle and taproot blowed
( )( ).

Disturbed is by far my favorite band, and it was unfortunate circumstances that prevented me from seeing MAAWII live in NJ. I don't feel so bad, though, because I can listen to this over and over! All four bands are terrific, but Disturbed steals the show. Thier new song, Dehumanized, is great, too.

Customer Reviews:
Decent, Except for Taproot.......2005-01-11
i have seen disturbed and chevelle in concert before and knew what to expect. Disturbed sounds just like they do on disk (which is good actually, because they sound good on disk). Chevelle and Unloco are also ok (Unloco broke up. Just thought you needed to know that.) Taproot sucks. No, I mean, that's why the rating is only 3-- because i had to sit through the couple songs they had on here wondering "Who would ever give these guys a record deal?"
Anyway, Dehumanized is a really good song and unreleased. I bought it without the DVD part so I can't tell you about that. Sorry. I am cheap.
Just as good live.......2004-03-30
I have always heard that Disturbed is a great band when performing live. Now I see why. Disturbed sounds just as good live as they do on their albums. Disturbed comes across very strong when playng live. However, I was a little disappointed. Most of thier songs sounded just the same they do on their two albums. They really didn't make any effort to deviate from their own norm. I was expecting them to change things around a little bit, but they didn't. The songs and their performance (DVD) was merely routine. I did enjoy their collaboration with the other bands on this album though. The other bands performed nicely. They threw their energy out there and had a great time on stage, which makes it a very enjoyable experience for those who spent their hard earned money to go and see them. Overall, it is a good CD and I would buy it again. "Fade to Black" is definitely worth buying the CD for. Metallica couldn't have asked for anybody better to remake their song.
Great first live disc for Disturbed.......2004-03-26
Even though I never attended any of the 'Music As A Weapon 2003' shows, I have seen Disturbed & Chevelle live, and that is why I found this album so appealing. Disturbed's second headlining package tour featured Taproot, Chevelle and the now defunct Unloco. Together, some of the bands best tracks are present, with a few collaborations, covers and rarities. Obviously, Disturbed are prominently featured. Most of the live songs here are pulled from 2002's 'Believe' disc, but there are a few little nuggets that stand out, such as a collaboration with Pete of Chevelle and Joey of Unloco on the hit "Stupify," the previously unreleased track "Dehumanized" (the studio version remains unheard) and a surprising cover of Metallica's "Fade To Black." The band is in top form (just as when I saw them in 2001) here. Taproot, who played direct support to Disturbed on the tour, only get three songs, which is disappointing. I would have hoped for more, especially since nothing from their debut, 'Gift,' is featured, but the band does a superb job with what they are given. Chevelle are given a mere two tracks, which is shocking considering the amount of success they have had in the past two years. "Forfeit" is an amazing song live, and Disturbed frontman David Draiman helps beef up "The Red" with a guest spot. If you want more live Chevelle, they have a live CD out called "Live From The Road," which is definitely worth checking out. As far as what they have featured here, I am a little disappointed. It would have been nice to hear some songs that are a little harder to find from them (i.e. "Don't Fake This," which they didn't play live when I saw them and doesn't appear on their live album either). Finally, Unloco, the opening band makes a decent performance with "Empty" and the far superior "Bruises." Nothing much to scream over, though. The DVD covers the same area as the CD. Same performances and all, along with the music video for Disturbed's "Liberate." All in all, it's a decent buy. It's definitely somewhat lacking, but if you went to one of the shows or have seen any of the bands live, this would be a nice little package to own. Personally, I don't feel the DVD is really necessary, and I recommend sticking to just the CD version.
Drop Tuning Does Not Equal "Heavy".......2004-03-20
I went to see Dream Theater last night. Overall, I can easily say that Dream Theater is comprised of 5 of the best musicians living on planet Earth today. Jordan Rudess is equal parts Jon Lord (of the almighty Deep Purple for those of nu-metal breeding), Beethoven and a carnival organist. His sense of timing and rhythm is unparrelled and he outshines even Dream Theater's prior keyboard wizards. Jon Myung plays bass as if he was learning scales in the womb. His fingers move effortlessly up and down the neck of his six string low-end instrument and he fails to make even a minor mistake. John Pettrucci is comfortably one of music's greatest axemen. His sense of melody and catchy hooks are combined flawlessly with his astute technical mastery. Mike Portnoy...one cannot watch his octapus arms flail about a dum kit in anything other than complete awe. In short, Mike Portnoy doesn't make mistakes and he is probably the best drummer of our generation. Finally, James LaBrie is, according to Dream Theater's website, a classically trained vocalist who still takes lessons when not touring or recording. His range ability is on par and even more defined than some of music's most famous vocalists.
What is the point of talking about Dream Theater in a review like this? Take a look at the bands on this CD. Generally, they have all been categorized by the media as "metal" and I've read countless articles and interviews with various members of the bands listed who complain about their loack of exposure is comparison to mainstream pop, despite being all over radio and video all the time. Unloco I've never heard before so I'll leave it at that, though I've heard that they are nu-metal through and through. Taproot is color-by-numbers rap rock and members of that band have even expressed their uninterest in most rock and metal altogether. Chevelle is probably the brightest spot on this CD. That being said, they still bear most traits that I despise in modern rock music and comparing them to Quicksand and Helmet insults those that they liken themselves after. Disturbed is obviously the main headliner here. Admittedly, I do admire the persistance that they displayed in getting to where they are but at what expense to "metal". They fashion themselves as the next evolutionary step in the genre while concurrently pounding out three note songs with little or no tempo changes, improvisation or leads. The songs that Disturbed are championed for are bland, unoriginal and rely mostly on guitar sound than pushing the envelope.
I've seen Chevelle and Disturbed live. I've seen what they do time and time again on TV and on heard it on radio and so on. I've also been a fan of the metal genre for over 15 years and grew up with Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Slayer and King Diamond and never do I hear the aforementioned nu-bands play anything remotely close to as intersting or technically-challenging as the metal greats that I have mentioned. As metal has progressed from the Iron Maiden's and Slayer's to the Dream Theater's and Cynic's of the genre, the band's that comprise this compilation seem to take the most simplistic and unoriginal parts of rock's more mainstream acts and formulate their own take on the matter and in the process make fans hand over fist that seemingly will move on to the next trend as the masses never fail in doing. If you want to experience some truly challenging and exciting new music, give bands like Soilwork, Dream Theater, Iced Earth, Clutch, Meshuggah or Lamb Of God a listen.
AWESOME!.......2004-03-17
OK, Unlike most of you who bought this cd for Disturbed I bought it for all the bands, Taproot sounded iffy, but not every band has a great live show every time, just happened that the time they recorded the tracks was one of them. Taproot's been around probably longer than you realized, the songs that they played on the cd are all off they're second cd... which isnt there best cd, Their first cd "Gift" is where its at. If they had a few songs from that one there that would kick. Chevelle, love their stuff up there on my high list of bands to watch out for, they already have 3 singles, The Red, Closure, and Send The Pain Below. Watch out for those guys, Unloco dont know too much about these guys, but what i hear they're not bad. I Say get it, without a doubt. But thats just me talkin.

The band is just as aggressive here as on their debut, but they've lost some of the dark angst, and as a result have created a melodic, psychically lighter album, despite the fact that the CD kicks off with "Prayer," a conversation between Draiman and God, inspired by the singer's grandfather's death. --Jaan Uhelszki

First of let's talk about the album, then we'll get into all the cool special features. I like this album and "The Sickness" equally. There are great songs on both and there are songs that can be skipped over on both. But despite all the things they have in common they are two very different albums. The Sickness was more of a "nu-metal" album. this is more traditional metal . There are songs on here heavier than what you've heard before (intoxication, rise) songs way softer and beautiful then you've heard before(darkness) and songs that could fit perefectly on "The Sickness" (Awaken, Prayer). The special features here are astounding. The case itself is worth the money. It's a red leather case with a metal beLIEve symbol on it. The album comes with a bonus DVD that shows you the controversial "Prayer" video, the making of the album, and clips from their M.O.L. DVD. Well worth the money. A great album by itself, but it's worth the extra cash to get the limited edition.
Great album with Great extras!!!!!!.......2003-04-20
This album is great all 12 tracks are amazing and this is the best album ever in my opinion. The skip button gathers dust when this CD is on (its almost always on my CD player). Disturbed rock and the extra stuff on this version of the album (leather case, bonus DVD) was well worth paying extra for.

Not Japanese.......2003-01-28
As you might have been thinking that wards you away from this CD, this is NOT Japanese, but manufactured in Japanese. All of the songs are in English, so no worries. The album is "The Sickness" with 5 extra songs, "God of the Mind" (unreleased), "Stupify" (live), "The Game" (live), "Voices" (live), and "Down with the Sickness" (live). The live versions are better in my opinion. The extra 5 songs are worth it for the money, and think of the more money this way if you wonder or think you wish not to pay this much extra:
1) This gets Disturbed more money to record
2) You gotta pay for shipping from Japan to America somehow, lol.
Please rate my review, thank you.
