4 out of 5 stars Recongnize the mob.............2006-12-22

This is a classic, Different from much of his ghetto boys work, gangsta no doubt, a little more musical at times, not as shouty. Its Willie D, if you like Willie D, you need to have this album, its that simple. Theres just a few songs I don't liten to thats why I gave it 4 stars, but if you concentrate just on the jams, its typical five star classic Willie D.

5 out of 5 stars Willie D aka Willie Dennis.......2004-07-07

For all these rappers out there they need to study their history. Public Enemy, NWA, Ice Cube, Geto Boys, Ice T and of Course Willie D. There are no rapper out today that can touch my man Willie D. I give it up to the old school rappers that have kept it real and true to themselves. Willie D by far is one of them. If America wants to know what really is going on in society then study this man. And when I was coming up listening to the Geto Boys I never really did feel scarface I was down with Willie D b/c he reminded me of my Uncle Jerry D. Its a Texas Thang. Just straight up in your face and real. And if anyone out there wants to here some real rap I suggest you pick up Jay Felony, Willie D, WC, Ice Cube, Mack 10, Geto Boys, Big Mike, MJG & Eightball, E-40. Okay so I like the South and West Coast but thats where the hardcore Hip Hop is. But Loved by few Hated by Many is a classic. Speak on it.

i really dont like rap anymore due to the fact that the whole thing is ruined by commercial influeneces, which have diluted the genre. also, most if not all my favorite MC's have fallen off badly.

one exception is willie d, long time member of the geto boys. my brother paul bought me this album, i really like very few rap albums released in the last few years but this one completely blew me away. this is one of the purest, un-commercialised, raw releases in years. the production is top quality, with plenty of fresh, funky southern style smooth funk. people in the know always knew the most talented member of the geto boys wasn't the more fashionable scarface, or even the limited bushwick bill. will is The Man, always was.

willies raps are the best. hard, raw, yet refined and intelligent. willie is much smarter than the average uneducated MCs, and has lyrical abilities and creativity lacking in the big name artists out there. this is REAL RAP. his flows are perfect, he keeps guest spots down to a minimum(thankfully), so you get a rap album the way they used to be, TRUE SOLO ALBUMS, without a 100 guests ruining the flavour and individuality of the record.

long term fans know willies always been the real. in 1989 when geto boys released their classic 'grip it! on that other level' willie released a solo album on the side, the equally classic 'controversy'. after geto boys hit big in 1991 with 'we cant be stopped' willie followed it up with 1992s average 'goin out lika soldier'... after this willie d abandoned the geto boys and rap-a-lot records over money disputes. he released 1994s brilliant 'play witcha mama'. an album of flavour and raw rhymes and excellent subject matter. people who love 2pac really need to check out willie d albums becuase all the 'trueness' they love in pac is present in willie d, only he is real whereas pac was a fake. willies raps are so strong, well thought out and his voice is tough and strong.

he reunited with the geto boys and they released two okay albums before willie went back to the studio and crafted this, his first solo album in years.

whereas all the veterans in the game have fallen off or sold out, i now respect willie d above ALL MCs in the game becuase he clearly recognises whats going on and has stayed TRUE to his self and his sound. and in the new millenium thats an incredible thing becuase nobody else has done that. willies ill advised boxing career, in his mid 30s no less, was thankfully brief (willie whipped a few journeymen then predictably got KO'd in 1 round by a decent middleweight), i hope he remains in the rap game and stays true to real music and never sells out or follows trends.

i see scarfaces new album 'the fix' got a shocking FIVE mics in the source. faces new album isnt that good, but it got a nice boost from a ridiculous high profile review. willies album is superior in every way to faces album. it could have been a hit but unfortunately his label rap-a-lot release so damn many albums and have way too many artists that the few quality albums they release just slip through becuase fans cant keep up. damn shame.

always stay true willie, please! and give us another classic like 'controversy', 'play witcha mama' and this new record. PEACE!

It has to be who you know. I'm not a rap fan. My musical tastes range from Keiko Matsui to classic r and b but I've been a Willie D fan from his early Ghetto Boys days. Before Eminem, even before Tupac, Willie D was, and still is, the premiere hardcore rapper. His talent is so good that's it's a shame he couldn't shine like he was supposed to. It must be who you know because he's the best hands down rapper on the scene. Not even my boy Tupac was as gritty in his depictions of poverty, violence and nobody was or is as graphic and outspoken when it comes to race. You can't rap like he can if you've been sheltered. He's been around. I wrote a book called GOTTA BE DOWN! and I wish I'd had a dude like this as a technical adviser. He's raw. Most of the mainstream rappers today look like pootbutts by comparison.

Willie D delivers, his long awaited solo follw up was worth the wait. Something for everyone plus D deals with issues, that's why I liked him from day 1 -- Outlawz stop by they snapped plus "Spice 1" that cut snapped, I love Freaky Deaky -- is that a sequel to Gangsta of Love. D disses America as always, takes shots at ... actors, who are never downed for the roles they play but stuff like Juice, and Boyz n the Hood are controversial. If you are tired of mainstream dirty south rap like No Limit, and Cash Money, check out this and see how Rap a Lot started this down south playa ....

skip this album. There are maybe one or two good tracks on this cd. I have never written a review on here but fealt that I should just because this album does not deserve a five. In fact it doesn't deserve two. I am changing my review to one star. Do not buy this album!

Bootleg has to be the most underrated rapper in the game - now - or ever. He has the mind and the courage to spit deep heartfelt ... and the vocal skills to put it down unlike anyone since Tupac - if even then. And how about the raw gangster ...Well he is from the Dayton Family and who has ever done it better?? Check out Jake the Flake Ghetto E Shoestring & Skanbino Mob too. - ...
