Brooklyn's underground production crew come with mad résumé, having launched the careers of Black Moon and Smif-N-Wessun/Cocoa Brovas and flipped more than a gripful of underground bangers. Brace 4 Impak boasts a lineup guaranteed to make any backpacker bug out, including Talib Kweli, Diamond, Pete Rock, Ras Kass, and a Black Moon reunion. But Evil Dee, Mr. Walt, Chocolate Ty, Baby Paul, and Rich Black aren't the conceptualists that, say, the Bomb Squad are; consequently, the album lacks a center. That's not to say that it won't loosen some necks. Busta Rhymes and Flipmode Squad's "Take That," Billy Flames's "Hell Yeah Oh Yeah," and Lord Tariq and Royce's title track are state of the art. Those nostalgic for a mid-'80s true-school vibe can groove to Diamond's "Best at That" and Heather B & Freedie Foxx's "How We Ride." The real eye openers are criminally unsung former Soul II Soul vocalist Caron Wheeler and Pete Rock's "Open" and Apani B. Fly MC & What What's "Shut da Fuck Up," both of which are raw, cerebral, and soulful. --Jeff ChangCustomer Reviews:
RAW HARDCORE BEATS!!!.......2007-04-15
DOPE HIPHOP!.......2007-04-15
BRACE 4 IMPAK IS BANGING FROM BEGINNING TO END. IT OPEN'S UP WITH A BOOMINN BASS TRACK CALLED "DEVASTATIN" FEATURING BUCKSHOT AND THE CD JUST FLOWS FROM THERE. THE TRACK "OPEN" HAS ONE OF THE SMOOTHEST BEATS AND R N B HOOKS YOU'LL EVER HEAR. ANOTHER BANGING BEATMINERZ ALBUM. FF---C ALL THE HATERSSSSSSS DOING REVIEWS.
dissappointing.......2006-11-13
I bought this cd because i wanted the hustlers theme by last emporer, apart from that this cd is garbage.
brace 4 impak .......2006-02-23
Eric B & Rakim. Biz Markie's 'All Samples Cleared'. Pete Rock & CL Smooth's 'Mecca and the Soul Brother'. Nas's 'Illmatic' and 'Stillmatic'. Diamond D's 'Stunts, Blunts & Hip-hop'. Kool G Rap. Big Daddy Kane. A Tribe Called Quest's Midnight Marauders. Rob Swift. The Beastie Boys. Roxanne Shante. Gang Starr. Main Source.
i think that should be enough reason to buy this album to support real hip hop, check out a creative hip hop genius and receive a quality product for those people tired of stupid hip hop.
SOLIDLY WACK.......2005-10-18
