Hilary Duff stares off the cover of Most Wanted with the look of a doe-eyed, feathered-haired criminal. Or maybe she's just exhausted, which would explain why she revisits so much already-released material. Three of the teen queen's biggest, brightest hits ("Come Clean," "Rock This World," and "Why Not") get the remix treatment. Impossible though it seems, each remix is still zippier than the original. Perennial fave "So Yesterday" is squished between the hard-rockin', deeply satisfying "Mr. James Dean" from 2004's Hilary Duff and the too-girlie-for-its-own-good "Metamorphosis" from the same-named 2003 disc. There are three originals including opener "Wake Up", a slightly self-pitying look inside the celebrity glass bubble, but to a great beat, the danceable "Beat of my Heart," and emo-esque "Break My Heart." The burning question of whether it's worth it to buy this record based on the inarguably good remixes and three original tracks will be dictated by how severe her fan base's withdrawal symptoms are. If magazine covers bear any relation to the old practice of plastering a town with "wanted" posters, odds are Duff's zillions of fans will not only find this disc but help her deliver on its smart title's promise. --Tammy La Gorce

3 out of 5 stars Duff Redone.......2007-07-02

This is just a repackaging of the stuff from Hilary's first 2 albums. Only 2 new songs, WAke Up and Beat of My Heart. Wake Up is pretty good; Beat of My Heart is rather childish. If you have Hil's first 2, no real need to get this.

3 out of 5 stars I'm Coming Clean.......2007-04-22

I like Hilary Duff's music, so sue me. My music tastes have always been much more id driven than my movie taste and I think that Duff represents that perfectly. Her movies are basically the cinematic incarnations of her songs (light, frothy, girly) and in my mind are almost universally bad. The only two that I will openly admit to liking are "Cheaper By The Dozen" and "Agent Cody Banks" and neither of those were vehicles built around her. Both of her art forms have the distinct taste of being cooked up in laboratory, but while the movies remind me of Spam the music goes down easy like a delicious Chicken McNugget.

"Wake Up", "Come Clean", and "So Yesterday" are three of my favorite pop songs of the past five years. "Wake Up", which I'm sure was supposed to be a melancholy take on celebrity lifestyle but ends up sounding like a disingenuous princess whining is a near perfect bubblegum song. It slaps around pretty much everything the blond bimbos of the 90's put out and I could listen to that song all day. And I certainly do not trust anybody who tells me that they are not charmed by the melody of "So Yesterday." Yes all these songs were written by people other than Duff and are extremely guilty pleasures. But do you want my honest take on this album or do you want me to lie. This is a greatest hits album so I have to deduct some points just to be fair. It is a great collection of songs to be sure, but it represents many years and many albums. I'm sure that I am saving myself a whole lot of pain and suffering by skipping over the filler on the previous albums and just sticking to the good stuff (go on and laugh). Also, I have no intentions of defending her weak points as an artist. She is what she is, which is a spoiled, rich Momma's girl who has probably never made one career decision in her entire life. She has never taken on a project, in music or film, that is the least bit challenging or edgy. Instead she has stuck with her Disney Channel created image and tried to ride that as far as it would take her. Or put another way, there is a difference between saying a girl can rock and a girl actually rocking. Personally, I blame her emotionally weak mother whose name shows up on way too many gossip pages, but what do I know?

I am assuming that most of you are snickering at me right now, very secure in your knowledge that you are far too sophisticated to listen to anything as silly as this. But I strongly urge you to get over your pretensions. And no, I have no interest in hearing from the music snobs either since every one of you I have ever met has had the most corporate movie taste imaginable. Word on the street says that on her new album Duff writes her own lyrics, but I have yet to hear it. "Most Wanted" sounds like it was written for 10 year old girls, and it probably was, and still it got plenty of spins on my CD player. ***1/2

5 out of 5 stars I love every one!.......2007-04-08

I love every album, hilary Duff rules. All her albums are soooooo good!I love them.I have a lot of Hilary duff stuff.Only a few examples:one album, hil duff tee, hilary duff backpack, and MUCH more.It would take years to name! But I think anyone who love hilary Duff, you should buy this product. And,maybe even all her albums!I got it as an Easter present, you could end up with one too! (love this product)

4 out of 5 stars Not really the "Most Wanted" songs.......2007-02-25

I own this cd and like it. But I have all of her other cds so really this cd had nothing new except the 3 new songs. Break My Heart and Beat of my Heart are sort of the same. I think she should have done a different title, there too much alike. This is a good cd for first time Hilary listeners, because it has all of her best. But it seems like the "best" of Hilary wasn't what I thought were the best songs of her. But I would recemend this cd to those who don't know Hilary's music yet, and want to hear what she's like.

2 out of 5 stars She's going down "Hil".......2007-02-14

I don't own this album and personally would never want to. I do have Metamorphosis, but I bought that when I was 15 years old. I listened to a few songs on here because of an article I read stating the worst albums in each genre. This was one of them. Being a former Hilary Duff fan, I decided to check it out.
If you like a girl who's trying to be in the rock genre, but doing very poorly at it, this album is for you.

4 out of 5 stars A great, if imperfect, blast from the past.......2007-05-12

'AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted' by Ice Cube is one of the most highly regarded hip-hop albums of all time. Unlike some of the overrated hip-hop albums I've heard that are supposed to be legendary, 'AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted's' praise is (mostly) warranted, though it should be known that there are a few weak spots on Ice Cube's solo debut.

Ice Cube's delivery is ace and his flow is spot-on, and on here he goes from serious ('AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted', 'Endangered Species') to silly ('A Gangsta's Fairytale' and 'I'm Only Out For One Thang'). Due to the Bomb Squad's "bomb" production (ha ha, a pun), this album - relased way back in 1990 - sounds better production-wise than some albums I've heard just eight years ago. Most the album is good, humorous, gangsta (and, sometimes, even sexist and racist, though I feel that it is not to be taken seriously here and if you don't look for it you wont be offended). Ice Cube is an excellent lyricist and story-teller, but there were a few tracks I wasn't really feeling. 'Get Off My... And Tell Yo... To Come Here' is a waste, and 'It's A Man's World' is boring and repetitive. The vast majority of this album is good stuff though, so cop this one if you haven't already. It's been out for over 17 years, after all, so what are you waiting for?

5 out of 5 stars You'll never catch him!.......2007-02-23

Ice Cube leaving NWA was the best move because mentally he was light years ahead of them. This album is more gangsta than conscious but it still has its gems like THE N***A YA LOVE TO HATE, AMERIKKKA'S MOST WANTED, YOU CANT FADE ME, ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE PROJECTS, TURN OF THE RADIO(this song inspired Dead Prez's mixtape), A GANGSTA'S FAIRYTALE, ROLLIN WITH THE LENCH MOB, WHO'S THE MACK, JACKIN FOR BEATS, THE PRODUCT and DEAD HOMIEZ. Filler: Im Only Out For One Thang(featuring Flava Flav or Slava Slave)is the only track that is weak. Bottom Line: Amerikkka's Most Wanted is a magnificent debut by one of the most important emcee of our time. Its a must have for any rap fan who remembers what Ice Cube was.

5 out of 5 stars One of Six Seminal Hip Hop Records Panned By Rolling Stone.......2006-08-22

As a big fan of the book, "Ego Trip's Book of Rap Lists", there was a section where certain seminal hip hop records were bashed by Rolling Stones. Ice Cube's monumental gangsta rap debut was one of them. Critics said, "the relentless profanity grows wearisome, bombsquads production loses steam, and Cube's attitude towards women are simply despicable". However, "Amerikkka's Most Wanted" (A suberbly provacative title) is criticized for all the wrong reasons. Most critics based assumptions on shock value and profanity but Cube's message was loud and clear. He was going to shut down racist white Amerikkka with one of the most visceral and revolutionary records that I have ever heard.

Straight out the box, Ice Cube is not out to make friends with, "The N***** Ya Love To Hate". Reality is a hard thing to digest and he let people know by dropping jewels like, "When I'm shootin let's see who drop/ The police, the media, and suckers that went pop/ And mother******* that say they too black/ Put 'em overseas they be beggin to come back/ They say we promote gangs and drugs/ You wanna sweep a n***** like me up under the rug/ Kickin s*** called street knowledge/ Why more n****** in the pen than in college. It was like Huey Newton speaking from a gangsta figures perspective and collaborating with Public Enemy... he became the black CNN. Songs such as "Turn Off The Radio" could never happen on a major label again. He was saying, "Program directors and dj's ignore me/ because I simply said F*** top forty/ Top thirty, top twenty, and top ten/ Until you put more hip hop in/". Most happy songs didn't make much sense on radio (still don't) and Cube knew hip hop was a weapon that people could see in the broad.

"Amerikkka's Most Wanted" also cemented Ice Cube as one of the genres greatest storytellers. The way he freaked nursery rhymes, for the kids, on "A Gangsta's Fairtale" was unbelievable. It was informing kids to watch out for scandolous women and stds. "Once Upon A Time In The Projects" was so vivid, it brought you straight to Compton, as if Ice Cube was saying his rhymes right beside you with an angry expression on his face. "Endangered Species" is one of the most politically intense charged rap songs ever on wax. "Every cop killer goes ignored/ They'll just send another n***** to the morgue/ A point scored; they could give a f*** about us/ They rather catch us with guns, and white powder/ - If I was old, they'd probably be a friend of me/ Since I'm young, they consider me the enemy/ You should listen to me cause there's more to see/ Call my neighborhood a ghetto cause it houses minorities/".

Overall, it's easy to see why hip hop purists say hip hop today just isn't good as that old school s***. Hell, even Rolling Stones, who dismissed this record, realized the records greatness and later gave this debut a 5 out of 5 stars rating. What's more amazing is the aforementioned songs aren't even my top two favorites. The title track and "Who's The Mack" knocked me off the edge of my seat. You can find gangsta rap anywhere today but this had such a powerful message with such proper beats, that unlike its modern day contemporaries, stands the test of time. Like rapreviews.com said, "One of the most important records ever made...if someone says to you rap is simple, throw this on and dare them to write something better - - none of them ever will".

5 out of 5 stars Gangsta then.Even more Now!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-07-28

Cube was kickin' that gangsta s**t then.Still today. But he bursted on the solo scene. He didn't need NWA they needed him.
This is the many examples of how a gangsta album should be done.

Drugs,hoes.gangs,crime,projects,ghetto,guns,jail,money,ruff,toughrugged and raw.His best argubably.The raps,rhymes,and subjects
still are goin' on and make sense today.

4 out of 5 stars low price gangsta masterpiece 4,5 stars.......2006-07-06

I highly recommend this album to all of you real hip-hop heads out there, especially the ones who like the west-coast.
Here you can find Cube in the peak of condition, rapping on the incredible Bomb Squad beats.
If you consider that here you got 23 tracks and not only Amerikkka's Most Wanted but also the very rare Kill at Will EP, you'll surely understand that $13 is a very low price. Ice Cube is extremely powerful on the mic and high-level apparences by Public Enemy and Lench Mob will only make this sound better to you.
You heard? I bet now you know what to do! Peace y'all

5 out of 5 stars Most Wanted.......2007-01-16

Perfect gift for a tiny-bopper. I normally dread the idea of finding room for all the gifts after the holidays but the gift of music was the way to go this year. My little girl is almost 8 and Hilary Duff is not risky with her music.

4 out of 5 stars A Greatest Hits..Already? Not Quite........2006-07-10

to me, this album was kind of like a greatest hits, even though Hil only has 2 albums, and only 5 of these songs were singles (not incuding the new songs)..but i liked this album anyway.

1. Wake Up - a great way to start the album, very fun and easy to dance to. it was overplayed by MTV though. 4/5
2. The Getaway - one of my favorite Hilary songs..EVER. best song on her self-titled album. 5+/5
3. Beat of My Heart - cool, fun dance song, but repeats itself to much, Hil is capible of much better 3/5
4. Come Clean (Chris Cox Remix) - I like it better than the original, great remix. 5/5
5. Who's That Girl? (Accoustic) - very raw and emotional, i prefer the orignal, but this is still amazing 5/5
6. Mr. James Dean - one of my least favorite songs from Hil's self titled CD, but not horrible 3/5
7. So Yesterday - I Still love this song, and always will 5/5
8. Metamorphosis - MY FAVORITE SONG FROM HIL's FIRST CD (Metamorphosis)!! just amazing, and fun to dance to 5/5
9. Rock This World (Remix 2005) - very similar to the oringal, good song overall 4/5
10. Break My Heart - my favorite new song from this collection. has a very nice rock edge to it. 5/5
11. Jericho (Remix 2005) - great remix, but i like the originals better 5/5
12. Fly - very good song, but a remix of this song would have been cool 4/5
13. Supergirl - verses are good, chorus is anoying 2.5/5
14. Party Up (Remix 2005) - better than the oringal 5/5
15. Girl Can Rock - when i first heard this on 'A Cinderella Story Soundtrack' i HATED it, but it grew on me 3/5
16. Our Lips Are Sealed [Feat. Haylie Duff] - an amazing cover of the original, i love Hilary and Haylies vocies together 5/5
17. Why Not? (Remix 2005)- Hil's original breakthrough hit. This doesnt really sound like a remix but its still good, The movie this is from (The Lizze McGurie Movie) is AMAZING, but im so sad the show is over.

5 out of 5 stars MOST WANTED HILARY DUFF.......2006-03-28

This cd is a collection of every song Hilary herself has ever written. It also features 4 brand new songs. The songs on this collection express her mature side and the remixes certainly go great with maturity.

1. Wake Up - Is one of the Hot and AWESOME singles! The best part is that it has elements of both pop/rock and who can forget dance.5 out of 5 starts
2. The Getaway - is from cd called Hilary Duff ( self-titled)this is one of the favorites from her sophomore album. I think she practically describes PAPARAZZI. Sounds very realistic.
3. The Beat Of My Heart - Is written by Hilary and her boyfriend Joel- it rocks the world 5out of 5
4. Come Clean (Chris Cox remix) - This remix is set to a faster pace - until it hits the chorus, then it becomes techno! 5out of 5

5 out of 5 stars Hilary Rocks again!.......2006-03-17

This cd is Awesome! though many of the songs are remixes, they have a totally new funky twist! (after all, it is "most wanted") The bonus track "Supergirl" is to die for! Her new songs like "Break My Heart", "Beat of my Heart", and "Wake-up" are really good too! Her cover with Hailey of "Our lips are Sealed" is increddibly close to the Original version, which my mom likes. She said that it was really good! I would sooooooo reccommend this cd to anyone who likes good music!

5 out of 5 stars very good.......2006-03-01

very good - good beats - good mix.

really just overall good - would surprise people who just listen to her radio songs.

4 out of 5 stars Great collection of country songs.......2005-07-06

Genre: Country (with pop/rock mixed in)

The compilation contains 15 country songs and an additional two songs in the form of music videos (actually different songs than on the plain audio section of the CD).

1. Artist: Mark Willis; Song: 19 Somethin'; From the Album: Greatest Hits (2002); Song Writers: Chris Dubois & Mark Willis; Review: "Saw Star Wars at least 8 times, had the Pac Man pattern memorized . . . I wouldn't trade those days for nothing" - Remembering the past, when he was a kid in 197-something, then brings it up to 198-something. Upbeat. Good song. Good strong voice. Vaguely heard of him, but do not own anything by him. Interested in looking for one of his albums. Willis, from Blue Ridge, GA, had his first album release in 1996. Won a country music contest at age 17 and played in a club for five straight years. Currently has five albums out, with a sixth one out in 2005 titled "Live at Billy Bob's" (this doesn't include 3 compilation albums). Highest on Country Billboard: 3 (with "Permanently"). Highest on Billboard 200: 23 (also with "Permanently"). Run Time: 3:17. Rating: 4.38.

2. Artist: Jennifer Hanson; Song: Beautiful Goodbye; From: Jennifer Hanson (2002), her first album; Song Writers: Hanson, Patton & Johnson; Review: "Like the most amazing sunset you've ever seen . . . Beautiful Goodbye . . . We really had us a time . . .standing here watching you drive away" - An oddly upbeat song about breaking up. Great opening. Never heard of her before, and I am quite surprised, quite good singer (distinctive voice). The song is a little repetitive though. Ends weakly. Born in 1974 La Habra CA. Has only the one album so far (interested in tracking it down). Debut album: 125 on Billboard 200 and 20 on Top Country Albums. Run Time: 3:25 Rating: 4.32.

3. Artist: Joe Nichols; Song: BrokenHeartsville; From: Man With a Memory (2002) his 2nd album; Song Writers: Boudreaux, Daniels, Kees & Mevis; Review: "He wore the cowboy hat to cover up his horns" - I own the album this song is on, so . . . I've liked this song in the past, but there is a part of the song that really drives one particular listener up the wall (something around the part of the song where "not against her will" is sung (the chorus, I believe)). Deep strong voice. Somewhat humorous song about a woman running off with another man. Own two albums by him, and thought I owned everything by him but there are apparently four more albums by him out there (not sure I'll track those down). From Rogers, AR. Highest on Country billboard: 3 ("Revelation"). Highest on Billboard 200: 23. Run Time: 3:49 Rating: 4.28.

4. Artist: Jo Dee Messina; Song: Burn; From: Burn (2000), her 3rd album; Song Writers: Tina Arena, Pam Reswick & Steve Werfel; Review: "Do you want to be a poet and write . . . I want you to burn for me" - Um, about a woman that wants someone to burn for her. Starts softly. Heard of her, seen videos, never owned anything by her. Good strong voice. Interesting, song begins to grow on me, though it is something of a fluff song. Song is about 1 minute too long. Not really interested in exploring her music further, at the moment. From Framingham, MA and born August 25, 1970. Currently she has five albums out (including one just released, I believe). Run Time: 4:30 Rating: 4.25.

5. Artist: Dwight Yoakam; Song: The Back of Your Hand; From: Population: Me (2003), his 15th album; Song Writers: Lee; Review: "When you give it up for God . . ." - Country/Religious song. I've heard of him, but never really listened to any of his songs. Good country sounding voice. Good music, not particularly my type of music though. Not interested in getting his albums (though might try a greatest hits cd; he has a rather large number of them). From Pikeville, KY and born October 23, 1956. 16 albums from 1986-2005 ("Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc." through "Blame the Vain"). Three number 1 albums on the country charts ("Guitars, Cadillacs. . .", "Hillbilly Deluxe", "Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room"). Highest Billboard 200: 25 ("This Time"). Run Time: 3:05; Rating: 4.23.

6. Artist: Chris Cagle; Song: What A Beautiful Day; From: Chris Cagle (2003) his 2nd album; Song Writers: Cagle & Powell; Review: "Day one, I stumbled through hello on fifth avenue . . ." - About growing in love. Interesting, starts off sounding like a Vanessa Carlton song. Rather good song. Not as deep voice as a Toby Keith or Joe Nichols. I believe I might already have all his albums (all 2 of them), so this song would not lead me to rush out to buy more (though I believe it was the first song of his I heard). Highest Billboard 200: 15 ("Chris Cagle"). Highest Country billboard ("Top Country Albums" chart): 1 ("Chris Cagle). Run Time: 3:40; Rating: 4.36.

7. Artist: Cross Canadian Ragweed; Song: 17; From: Cross Canadian Ragweed (AKA: The Purple Album; 2002), their fifth album; Song Writers: Cody Canada; Review: "sirens wail and a flashing light nothing better to do on a Tuesday night . . . Running from it all" - A song about being 17. This group is one that I've really never heard of, though they seem to be very good. Quite interested in pursuing more of their music. Has a more rock feel to it, than country. Formed 1994 in Stillwater OK. Band name comes from member names (guitarist Cross, lead singer (and guitarist) Canada, and drummer Ragsdale; not sure how bassist Plato fits in). This alt-country band has seven albums out there (2001-2004; 2 released in 2001, 3 in 2002, and 2 in 2004). Highest on Country chart: 5 ("Soul Gravy"). Highest on Billboard 200: 51 ("Soul Gravy"). Run Time: 5:18; Rating: 4.35.

8. Artist: Rhonda Vincent; Song: You Can't Take It With You When You Go; From: One Step Ahead (2003), her 9th album; Song Writers: Knight & Wright; Review: "Watch where you are standing when you close that door . . ." - slow sound, soft instruments, about a man about to leave and a woman asking him to think about it. I think I've heard of her. She has a voice somewhat similar to Alison Krauss's. Good lyrics, good music, not my type of song. Not likely to explore further (though better on repeated hearings). This Kirksville Missouri born singer was born in July 1962. She currently has 10 albums out there for consumption (1990-2005). Never on the Billboard 200, and her highest ranked album reached #30 on the Top Country Albums chart ("One Step Ahead"). Run Time: 3:30; Rating: 4.17.

9. Artist: Trace Adkins; Song: Chrome; From: Chrome (2001), his fourth album; Song Writers: Smith & Steele; Review: "Her favorite color is Chrome" - good upbeat song. Don't own all his albums, but I own this one and really like him. Good deep, strong voice. Sarepta Louisiana native Adkins was born on January 13, 1962. He currently has six albums out there (not counting greatest hits and the like). His albums have reached a height of #9 on the Billboard 200 ("Greatest Hits"), and #1 on the Top Country Albums chart ("Greatest Hits" and "Songs about Me"). Run Time: 3:22; Rating: 4.35.

10. Artist: Montgomery Gentry; Song: Cold One Comin' On; From: Carrying On (2001), their 2nd album; Song Writers: Geiger, Mullis & Huffman; Review: "Weather man says it might hit 95, September is going to feel more like July, he's calling for a night that's warm and mild, but I think he missed it by a mile, he just don't know that you are gone, I feel a cold one coming on" - man getting over a recent break-up. Really good duo, though sometimes I think they might sound better separately. Heavy use of guitars. Long instrumental breaks (adds at least a minute to the song). Waiting for their next, sixth album. Highest on the Top Country Albums chart: 2nd ("You Do Your Thing"). Highest on Billboard 200: 10th ("You Do Your Thing"). Run Time: 5:03. Rating: 4.40.

11. Artist: Alison Krauss; Song: Maybe; From: Forget About It (1999), her 8th album; Song Writers: Kennedy & Madeira; Review: "Lying above the rest...." - I don't know what the song is about. Soft song. Something about the voice is irritating, maybe because it is mostly good, and then she reach, and it becomes fingers on chalkboard time. Rather good instrument work.. Might borrow one of her albums . . . From Champaign Illinois (home of the University of Illinois), Krauss was born on July 23, 1971 and has released 11 albums (1985-2004). Highest on the Top Country Albums chart: 2nd ("Now that I've Found You: A Collection"). Highest on Billboard 200: 13 ("Now that I've Found You: A Collection"). Run Time: 3:41; Rating: 4.22.

12. Artist: Dierks Bentley; Song: What Was I Thinkin' From: Dierks Bently (2003); Song Writers: Ruttan, Beavers & Bentley; Review: "Becky was a beauty from south Alabama . . . What was I thinking . . . thinking about a little white tank top sitting right there next to me . . ." - man picks up woman drives away, dad runs out with a shotgun and unloads it at them as they drive away. Strong song. Great voice. I own this Phoenix Arizona native's first album, looking to purchase his next ("Modern Day Drifter" - 2005). Reached number 4 on the Top Country chart, and number 26 on the Billboard 200 chart for his first album. Run Time: 3:44; Rating: 4.48.

13. Artist: LeAnn Rimes; Song: I Need You; From: I Need You (2000); Song Writers: Matkosky & Lacy; Review: "da da da . . . I don't need a lot of things, I can get by with nothing . .." - just like the title notes, the song is about a woman that all that she needs is you. The thirteen year-old "next Patsy Cline" has all grown up now (she's 23 in two months). Good singer, but heavy feeling song, over-pressured by instruments. I own greatest hits and most recent release (mentioning things like this to let you know if previously biased for or against a singer). Has released nine albums (not counting greatest hits and other compilations). Reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart with her first and second releases, and has added two more number one Top Country Albums. Her first album reached number 3 on the Billboard 200, and the second album reached number one (she has had one more number one album for the Billboard 200). Run Time: 3:45; Rating: 4.14.

14. Artist: Keith Urban; Song: Raining on Sunday; From: Golden Road (2002); Song Writers: Brown & Foster; Review: "It ticks just like a Timex, it never lets up on you . . ." - Nice instrument work.(somewhat the best part of the song; mix of country and rock). Good voice, not particularly deep. Not sure I'll pursue the New Zealander's work. He was born October 26, 1967. Six albums released. Heights: number one on Top Country Albums chart and number three on the Billboard 200 chart (both for the "Be Here" album). Run Time: 3:41; Rating: 4.24.

15. Artist: Rascal Flatts; Song: I'm Movin' On; From: Rascal Flatts (2000); Song Writers: White & Williams; Review: "I've been trapped in the past too long . . I'm moving on" - um, a guy moving on. Nice opening instruments (then, gee, is that a man or a woman singing . . .). Own one album by this group, not bad, not going rush out for more of their work. Cousins Gary Levox and Jay DeMarcus, of Columbus Ohio, and non-relative Joe Don Rooney of Picher Oklahoma form the band that has currently released three albums. The most recent two albums have reached number one ranking on the Top Country Albums chart, and the most recent album has reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Run Time: 3:48; Rating: 4.18.

Overall Run Time: roughly 51 minutes

Songs: Overall, I ended up with an average of 4.29 stars.

Videos: Unfortunately, I could not get the videos to work.

CD Packaging: Contains name of song, which album the song is pulled from, the name of the songwriters, and the copyright date. No lyrics are provided.

Overall: Not a bad song in the bunch, though I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to some of the singers/groups. I like many different styles, and these songs are different enough that it is somewhat enjoyable to listen to as a regular selection in the play cycle (single artist album sometimes suffer because they just have the one artist, and while each song might or might not be good on its own, placed together they can become rather repetitive). So, I'd rate the CD/album/compilation 4.29 stars.

4 out of 5 stars Great Artists!.......2003-12-19

I love the combonation of artists on this CD and I can't wait to listen to it! I am a new found country listener and I love Dirks Bently!!!

2 out of 5 stars Music worth it, but the "Enhanced" features AREN'T.......2003-10-22

I saw the special for this CD on CMT. Even though I already have most of the songs on the CD, I wanted the enhanced videos so I decided to buy it. In small print on the back of the CD it says that the enhanced features won't work on some computers, but I took the chance anyway. Well I've now tried this CD on several different makes/models and haven't gotten the enhanced features to work YET!

5 out of 5 stars Serious Game Poppin' Off From The CPT.......2007-04-13

CMDubb's 3rd album, Music To Driveby is easily one of the top albums of the early 90's, thumpin beats and awesome rhymes. DJ Slip, Unknown, and DJ Mike T serve the beats in different flavas, raw, smooth, funky, melodic , jazzy (at times), and hella funky! Productionwise, this is one of the best albums of 1992, in my opinion. All three layer soul and funk samples one on top of another and Mike T dices and scratches them up with precision. Musically, this album resembles a West Coast DJ Premier of Gangstarr. Here in 1992, West Coast and East Coast beats diverge musically, and G-Funk was starting to pop up in West Coast albums. This album shows those tendencies while remaining raw at the same time. MC Eiht is game tight throughout the album. He can hold his own, and he gets hard on DJ Quik (who to be fair, I am a big fan of too)on the short "Who's Xxxxing Who?" and "Duck Sick 2," the latter is a funky classic. I love the Issac Hayes "Walk On By" sample by Slip on the melodic "Hood Took Me Under," an absolute classic where CMW shoots game about the trappings of the hood. Another classic is "N 2 Deep" with Mr. Scarface, another one of my favorite rappers; they both serve heat over a soulful funky beat. I love "This Is A Gang" which beautifully samples the beat sequence and hook of NWA's 1988 classic "Compton's In The House," and Slip adds a soft funky flute to add to the effect. This album sets a high standard for West Coast rap and often takes a back seat to other West Coast albums like The Chronic. It should not be overlooked.

I hooked up this cd after playing GTA San Andreas, when hearing one of their songs "Hood Took Me Under" on Radio Los Santos, I went simply crazy and butt-Wild. The Album has the most powerful beats ewer made out westcoast. If you planing to look foe some real gangsta, this is it right here.

5 out of 5 stars Maybe the best Gangsta rap album ever..........2004-03-29

Say what you will about the obvious choices of "The Chronic" and "Doggystyle", my choice will always be Music to Driveby. This album exemplifies what not only great Gangsta rap should sound like but what good hip-hop should sound like as well.

First and foremost, Eiht is an emcee, not just a rapper. This performance is the pinacle of his rhyme ability before he became known to the public as "the guy who says geeyah". He battles ("Dead Men Tell No Lies", "Duck Sick II", "Def Wish II", and "Who's ****ing Who?"), he paints big lyrical hood murals ("Hood Took Me Under" & "Jack Mode"), he constantly reps his hood ("Compton 4 Life"), experiments ("N*ggaz Strugglin" & "U's a B*tch"), and destroys with rapid fire delivery ("Hit the Floor"). He may be the only artist to ever hold his own on a track with the great Brad Jordan a.k.a. Scarface ("N 2 Deep").

Production is cutting edge as well and again. After the slightly uninspired Staight Checkn'em album, this album returns to the original formula that made It's a Compton Thang so great - creative use of samples. "Hood Done Took Me Under" is the classic example. Eiht rips the Isaac Hayes sample used by Easy Mo B for Notorious BIG a few years later for "Warning", and a good decade before Ludacris used it again on his "Chicken & Beer" album. To top it all off, the loop was vastly superior to either of these uses or numerous others. Or better yet, check the clever use of scratches and snippets on "Who's ****ing Who?" where Tim Dog's voice is used to scorch himself. The complete bastardization of BDP's classic "South Bronx" was even a bold manuver with, to my surprise, absolutely no response from Krs-ONE. And to wrap it all up, you get the smooth instrumental "Music To Driveby" to round it all out.

Yeah sure, Eiht didn't get the national recognition until We Come Strapped a few years later. But that album, in my opinon, pales in comparison to the overuse of the same production used on Driveby's "Hood Rat" and waaaaaaay to many "Geeyah's". Driveby's way more diverse in both production and lyrics and does not suffer from any overused topics that Eiht would later be forced to employ from the overabundance of other Gangsta rappers and their albums.

If you're even a mild fan of gangsta rap or even hip hop in general, do yourself a favor and pick up this classic.

Man...this album is sick. Lately, with cats like Pigeon John, The Procussions, and Red Cloud in the mix...hip hop is looking much brighter. I love it. This is some real hip hop. Track 13...man....that is reason enough to own the album. Dude spits with a flow like none other. Believe that.

5 out of 5 stars Phenomenal as always!.......2007-05-26

RedCloud alway drops the clean beats that tell it like it is without the unnecessary language. Gotta love his Hip-Hop style that is so unique and one of the best i've heard. HMW a must have in your hip-hop library not to mention "Is This Thing On" and "Traveling Circus".

5 out of 5 stars WOW! I haven't heard nothing better!.......2007-05-24

I got this album today and it suprised me! It was soooooo good!!! This is a must buy record yall!

5 out of 5 stars Instant Classic!!!.......2007-05-24

Redcloud has been putting it down on the west coast underground circuit for years. His time has finally come with this album. Forget the fact that he has San Diego native Jayo Felony and DPG Kurupt on here flowin without any profantiy, Cloud holds this album down on his own. The guest appearences are just a added bonus.

I have all of Clouds albums and would have to say that this is his best work yet. The true hip hop enthusiast would apreciate the west coast style beats with lyrics that would make Rakim's jaw drop. On top of that this album boasts the work of one of the most underated DJ's in the game, DJ Wise. Wise's scratches are drop dead amazing. Your jaw will hit the ground when you hear scratches of Hulk Hogan, yes THAT Hulk Hogan.

If your reading this, it means your interested in the album. All I can say is that this ranks up there as an instant classic. I'm talking "Bizzare Ride" style classic.

5 out of 5 stars TRAP CLASSIC!.......2006-05-19

First of all, who cares whether or not they stayed with No Limit, too bad they left oh well, nothing that any of us could have done about that. Ok, I got it off my chest, first off this is a great sounding CD, too bad they left NLR this is still a great sounding label and they couldn't really differentiate themselves from the Dirty South style and in retrospect they should've stayed with No Limit as it sounds the same. The beats and production are absolutely sick.

Most Wanted Records Ain't Making Much Moves, But The Moves They Make Are On Hit. The New Album By Kane & Abel - "Most Wanted" Is Very Tight. Every Album Kane & Abel Has Release Is Tight Expect There First One Under A Different Name Then Kane & Abel. One Thing That Is A Down Point Of This Album Is The Rappping. The Beats Are At The Best Though.

Many People Dislike This Album, Why, I Don't Know What Else You Want From A Album. Sometimes People Are To Picky To There Music. I Advise Everyone To Get This Album To Hear That Kane & Abel Ain't Changed And Are Still Tight Without No Limit.

Cube took a lot of the heat for N.W.A's more excessive moments, maybe because he was the best rapper in the group, and his solo debut reacts by pushing the envelope even further. To the strains of a carpet-bombing Bomb Squad soundtrack, he adopts a way-over-the-top persona: an amoral, sawed-off-shotgun-wielding, 40-ounce-swilling, gang-banging, reflexively defiant ball of rage. If you can't see the funny side, it can be tough to take--"You Can't Fade Me" is especially loathsome taken at face value--but it's pretty clear that he's got some perspective (see "It's A Man's World," his wry head-to-head with Yo-Yo). Also, his indictments of institutionalized racism are tart, savage, and dead on the mark. --Douglas Wolk

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Albums Ever.......2007-01-19

Plain and simple, when this came out, it was pure fire. Cube was doing things no one else was doing, and this came at a time when Hip-Hop was in it's hey day! Dope beats, dope rhymes, crazy creativity...this album is genius work. Is in my list of Top 10 Hip-Hop albums of all time. This is a must have for your collection.

5 out of 5 stars Cube's Best!.......2004-07-18

This is a must have album! It's Cube's best, and one of my favorite gangsta rap albums ever!
It has many classic cuts such as: One Upon A Time In The Projects, Nigga Ya Love To Hate, and Amerikkka's Most Wanted, and has guests like Yo-Yo, Chuck D, ect. This is a great album, you can't have a good music collection without it!

5 out of 5 stars TOP 5 ALBUM OF ALL TIME.......2004-05-24

This is one of the few albums that I can remember the first time I heard it like it was this morning. im only writing this review because I saw that the average rank of this album is only 4. Then I read the negative reviews and came to only one simple conclusion, only young kids could not appreciate this album. Anyone who grew up during this era thats into hip hop will absolutely love it. Ice Cube is at his angriest best on this album. The newer Ice Cube (after Predator) is half rate material at best to me. Theres no flossy computerized syntesized beats on this one..Thats why its not liked by the younger generation.
THIS ALBUM IS ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE AND IF YOU CAN FIND IT HOLD ONTO IT..CLASSIC MATERIAL TO THE FULLEST..EVERY SINGLE TRACK AND SKIT ARE GREAT.

3 out of 5 stars Come On Now.......2004-02-22

Ok now, I've been reading the reviews and for a real true Ice Cube musical fan, you would have to be kidding yourself if you are gonna say this is his best album ever. Please!!! Not to say this album stinks, but I look at this album as his groundbreaking, leaving NWA and need to get my feet wet on my own album; as this helped propel him to bigger and better things, including much better music and albums. Let's face facts Cube fans, though the lyrics are very good, (because Cube is a great rap writer along with rhyming) the beats are weak and lame, especially in contrast to his future albums as he got more popular and was able to make much better beats and sounds. Don't get me wrong though, there are a lot of good songs on this album. If you are a Cube fan, you must have this album since it was "the beginning of his era" in a way, as he was seperating himself from being just a member of N.W.A. to being known as Ice Cube the rapper, producer, businessman, actor, ........ICON.
