5 out of 5 stars good memories for me and fun "new" songs for my children.......2007-06-27

We had ordered this for "The Dukes of Hazzard" theme song for our 4yr old and our whole family has fallen in love with the cd. It makes me want to share some of the old fun and simple shows with my children. I forgot about some of those shows. It brings back good memories for my husband and me and the songs are new and exciting for our children. It's a nice change from children's cd's, but our children still think it's fun. The sound quality is good and the songs included on the cd are a great mix. I would definately recommend this one.

5 out of 5 stars memories.......2007-02-22

This cd is excellent it has a lot of very good music and true to the original sound, Am getting a lot of enjoyment, highly recomended

5 out of 5 stars TV Theme Songs.......2007-01-13

This is a great CD for people who watch a lot of TV -especially TV LAND and reruns of old shows when shows had actual theme songs. I took the CD to work and everyone loved trying to figure out what show the songs were from.

3 out of 5 stars TV themes.......2006-07-05

Not all what I expected, not all of the tunes are the original recordings you remember as the TV themes.

5 out of 5 stars Deja Vu.......2006-02-17

Listening to these familiar themes as performed by the original artists certainly brings back wonderful memories! I was particularly pleased, not only with the quality of the pieces, but with the actual performances themselves, just as we remembered them!

5 out of 5 stars Great Sampling Collection.......2007-07-29

Over the past thirty years, my father and I have been collecting film music on various formats--vinyl, tape, reel-to-reel, CD, recording it from the movie, even. This collection is a great starter for someone who wants to start owning movie music. Lots of big hitters, including Hermann, Barry, Conti, Mancini, and Goldsmith as well as some contemporary scores that are great, too. This is the type of collection I would make for a friend who asks "what scores should I start with?"

4 out of 5 stars Six Decades of Film Music.......2007-05-13

This is film music for the classical music lover. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra presents excellent arrangements of a number of classic film themes (although several pieces of the 56 film classics selected for this 4 CD set are not orchestral arrangements, but rather specialty arrangements). Besides great film composers such as John Williams, Elmer Bernstein, Ennio Morricone, and James Horner, classical composers such as Richard Strauss and Pietro Mascagni make an appearance. On several of the numbers the Crouch End Festival Chorus adds the human voice to the power of the full symphonic orchestra to create true movie magic. If you like the sound of a full symphony orchestra playing some of the most recognized themes ever written, you'll love these CDs.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent collection with fine performances.......2007-03-28

Silva Screen Records, based in England, has been issuing some fine collections of film scores, more in one box than we have the right to expect. This four-CD box contains scores by many of the best writers, including Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, Dimitri Tomkin, Kenneth J. Alford (The Bridge on the River Kwai), Elmer Bernstein, Maurice Jarre, Ennio Marricone, John Barry, Nino Rota, John Williams, James Horner, and more. We can all think of additional film scores we wished were included, but then there's no way this collection could be all-inclusive. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, supplemented by Crouch End Festival Chorus on some numbers, does a very competent job...The liner notes give the basic information without any commentary, and as far as I can see, contain only one error. Am I wrong or are tracks 9 and 10 on the fourth CD mislabeled? Track 9, which runs 7:33, seems to have the excitement of "Pirates of the Caribbean" (which I did not see) and track 10, which runs 4:22, the more sedate "The Girl with the Pearl Earring (which I also did not see). Listings seem to have them reversed.

5 out of 5 stars "essential film scores from 1939 to 2004 ~ Incredible Music".......2005-05-16

When I think of the "Golden Age" of Hollywood, many composers come to mind...you gave the usher your ticket in the theater and sat down, knowingly you were going to get your moneys worth...when the curtain opened and you heard those first few notes...you sat back, watched and listened as the film score and orchestra worked their magic...now we have the ultimate from Silva Screen Classics "The Incredible Film Music Box", featuring a four disc set of the essential film scores of the past 60 years...covering several decades from 1939 through and up to the present 2004

There are compilations and then there are "Compilations" beginning with a classic that even the youngsters today recognize "GONE WITH THE WIND" (1939) (Max Steiner), sweeping score that captures the tragic history of the South during the Civil War, one great cue after another, it doesn't get any better than this, nominated by the Academy for Best Original Score...and closing on Disc 4 with "THE INCREDIBLES" (2004) (Michael Giacchino), the big hit in computer animation from Walt Disney & Pixar that once again pit Super-Heroes against the forces of evil...our family of five Supers prove crime doesn't pay, but box-office receipts do...gotta love it!

Silva Screen Classics as usual, has put quality into this 4-CD-Set featuring The City Of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus conducted by Kenneth Alwyn, Bill Ashton, Paul Bateman, James Fitzpatrick, Mario Klemens, Derek Wadsworth, and Nic Raine. Recorded in "Dolby Surround" with the new technology of "HDCD", this is a "film-score-buffs" dream, one to treasure now and years to come.

Some selections are missing, but when you think of what Silva has included, it is impossible to please everyone...was happy to see "TOUCH OF EVIL" (1958) from composer Henry Mancini, as I feel this composer deserves all the recognition that has been overlooked recently in the music world...This collection is aimed directly at the "Serious Film Score" music fans and collectors...Silva is as always, perfect in every way...just the way we like 'em!

Broadway veteran Liz Callaway (most famous for her five-year stint as Grizabella in Cats on Broadway in the late '90s) fills her second solo album with lesser-known tunes, a number of them covering moments in her career. Her lovely soprano can break your heart with the ballad "Since You Stayed Here" then thrill you with the showstopper "The Story Goes On" from Baby (which earned her a Tony nomination). The emotional heart of the album is "Meadowlark," Stephen Schwartz's wondrous tale of risk and heartbreak that proves a particularly glorious marriage with Callaway's voice. In a savvy bit of programming, that peak is followed by the deliciously langorous "Sleepy Man." Callaway's sister, jazz/cabaret singer Ann Hampton Callaway, makes a guest appearance in Stephen Sondheim's powerful "Our Time," a teaser of the sisters' live collaboration. Of Varese Sarabande's many albums spotlighting Broadway singers, The Story Goes On is one of their absolute best. --David Horiuchi

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Y'all are crazy!.......2006-11-03

The Billy Porter duet is one of the most unique and thrilling songs on the cd. What a fantastic re-invention of that song. And their voices by themselves and together are glorious. Its all personal taste and by no means is that the only good song. Its probably THE best solo cd by a broadway artist. Incredible!

5 out of 5 stars Liz Callaway Goes On..........2006-05-02

Liz Callaway has one of the most enthralling voices around. Her voice is melodious and very soothing and especially shines in soft and subdued ballads. She doesn't have a big voice but she has an amazing range and sense of melody.

She opens the album with a strong rendition of "You There in the Back Row" a song I'm not familiar with but has grown to love. The next track "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of my Hair" lacks the spunk and bite that I think the song should have, and the arrangement felt out of place in the album.

She had a touching and moving rendition of `Since You Stayed Here". I'm not familiar with the musical Brownstone but this song made me want to check out the musical. It's about someone forced to become a stronger person after a breakup or some sort, that you wouldn't recognize it's the same person. I really love this song and Liz captured the strength as well as the sadness of the song.

Another standout is her now trademark version of "Meadowlark". The story of the meadowlark was a metaphor that convinced the character to the important decision she made in leaving her husband for another man. This is a really powerful song and truly Liz Callaway soared in this song. "Sleepy Man" was another notable track. This is probably the song that fits Liz Callaway's voice most perfectly. It was very sweet and really really soothing in the ears. This is one of my favorite tracks.

"Stop Time" is a song about the inexplicable combination of joy and sadness of watching your child grow up. It was a tender rendition that ends with a beautiful subdued last note. This woman knows how to end a song.

Once I got passed the cheesiness of the arrangement of "One Boy", I enjoyed it. It's old fashioned but it's still good. Liz then made an updated rendition of "The Story Goes On" from her show "Baby" This song was about a mother-to-be finally realizing the beauty and magic of carrying a child after she felt the child's first kick. I prefer the stronger arrangement of the song in this album compared to the Baby Cast Recording, but the innocence of that earlier rendition still resonates.

She ended the album with a beautiful rendition of "A Place Called Home". I first heard this song in one of Lea Salonga's concerts and I fell in love with this song. Her last note was very touching and melodiously and heartbreakingly romantic.

Grade= A

5 out of 5 stars Liz Callaway SOARS!.......2005-06-27

Wow! I love this cd! I went to a camp in Decatur, Illinois called Showchoir Camps of America. One night, as our evening entertainment, she performed this entire album!! That afternoon Ms. Liz came for a question and answer session with Phil Reno. She is such a down to earth person and sooo very talented! At the concert, I started to cry! During one song, Ms. Liz forgot the words to a song ( actually, I forgot what the song was called!), so she just made up some words to it!! If you want a TRUELY talented performer, Liz Callaway is the one for you!

5 out of 5 stars ....Love this album too!.......2004-08-18

I love this album. There are a few songs I kinda skip, because it was just weird. That song being "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of my Hair", weird. I loved the duet "Where is Love" from the musical Oliver. "Stop,Time" from the musical BIG (grab your puffs!). I enjoyed the 50's sounding "One Boy!" from Bye,Bye Birdie. Liz has a wonderful range, and flattering childish tone to her voice, reaching notes that would take me years of training to ever reach again! She has complied all these exciting songs and ends the album with "A Place Called Home", from A Christmas Carol. I could never give her enough praise. If you like Strisand, and Sintra, you'll love her too! :-) Liz is always shinning when she sings! Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Unknown Talent Sings Unknown and Known Broadway Songs.......2003-06-10

... I thought I recognized the voice but I couldn't quite place it. I finally realized that she was the singing voice of Anastacia in the animated movie. Meg Ryan was the speaking voice. Liz Callaway has one of the clearest voices I have ever heard and also a very strong voice. I love her rendition of Knowing When to Leave/Promises, Promises by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Great arrangements. Dionne Warwick, who I am also a fan of covered Promises, and the Carpenters sang a version of Knowing When to Leave. I'm also a Carpenters' fan. On this album all the songs are Broadway. Many I hadn't heard before but love now due to Liz. The first song, You There in the Backrow is a tribute to fans of shows. "Watch me sing my song for you" the words go. Liz makes you want to jump to your feet. Liz does a rendition of I' Gonna Wash that Man Right Out of My Hair from South Pacific, rock version. I can't say that's my favorite, but favorite to one of my friends. Since You Stayed Here, another unknown song to me, is quiet and hauntingly beautiful. Bette Midler does a version of this I think on her CD with From a Distance. She sings a duet with her sister, Ann Hampton Callaway who sings on Sibling Revelry with Liz. Ann wrote and sang the theme from The Nanny. The song Liz and Callaway and here sister does is Our Time. It's also on Sibling Revelry. Great duet. One of my favorites on the CD is Marry Me a Little by Stephen Sondheim. The words are a plea to marry me, a little. The song is an almost a desperate plea to marry me but you don't have to make promises you don't want to, an open marriage? Make a few demands a few that I'm able to fulfill. She sings I'm ready. We won't have to give up a thing, we'll stay who we are the words say. Someone I'm Ready. I would give this song 5 stars on its own. It makes me cry because she sounds like she will settle but at the same time she wants the love fully. The arrngements on this album are unique. She sings I've Got the Sun in the Morning from Annie Get Your Gun jazzy. Most of the other songs on the album are not known by most people. I can only say that Liz makes you want to see these shows and she pulls you in. I think I've become her biggest fan. I'm a singer too. I could see myself singing with her. I have her The Beat Goes On album too with sixties hits. I hope that people will get to know her because if you haven't heard this or her voice, you are going to be deprived of a remarkale clear strong voice. Buy this. I promise you won't be sorry! One more addition, Meadowlark. Spectacular! The story tells of someone hesitating because the time wasn't right and she learns from the story to live your life, climb every mtn.

3 out of 5 stars The vinyl version is better.......2006-02-19

This is the film version, and it is inferior to the original album release. Often times, soundtrack releases differed from their film versions because composers could tweak passages here and there and get a relaxex, dedicated recording, away from the harsh deadlines of film making. The result was often glorious, as was the case for Jerry Goldsmith's Patton.

Add the famous George C. Scott speeches as prologue and epilogue and you have a classic. But only on vinyl. The vinyl version has better audio quality and is a better performance. It is a shame we are stuck with this dubbed version, which ironically is available on the Patton DVD as well.

4 out of 5 stars Do some research!.......2006-01-14

This is a great CD for collectors. This is the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK to the film. These arrangements are the ones that were ACTUALLY USED in the film, NOT the ones that were on the album with the speeches. So, if you are looking for the opening and closing speeches, you won't find them here.
Why?
Because there are actually THREE different versions of the score for this FANTASTIC film.
There was another version conducted by Jerry Goldsmith in 1997.
And.... there was ANOTHER one that was recorded in 1970. THAT is the one with the speeches. As far as I know, it has NEVER been released on CD. Hopefully, at some point, someone will see fit to release that version. Personally, I feel those are the best arrangements of the music used in the film. Or, better yet, make a special edition using all 3 versions.
So, you should be HAPPY to have THIS version as well.
By the way, I believe this info is in the liner notes of this CD.

1 out of 5 stars Missed oportunity!.......2006-01-06

While I can appreciate that this release is a very competent recreation of the musical content of the original vinyl, I too was totally dismayed at the absence of Patton's speeches(as delivered by George C Scott) which are virtually inseparable from the music for anyone who owned the original vinyl release. All of which subsequently leaves this release a rather hollow experience.

5 out of 5 stars Two classic scores!.......2005-11-22

This cd includes Frank DeVol's score for the Robert Aldrich classic, "Flight of the Phoenix"; an exciting score for an equally exciting movie. Goldsmith's justifiably famous score for Patton features the original recordings, including the haunting "echoplexed" trumpets. Also, the previous reviewer's one-star rating is rather inexplicable considering this is FILM SCORE release. Why would soundbites from the film be included? Bizarre. All-in-all a great package and a limited edition (only 3,000 copies). Get yours while you can - you won't be disappointed!

1 out of 5 stars Missing the Best .......2005-06-25

This album does not have Patton's opening speech or the closing "All Glory is Fleeting" speech. It misses the two most important segments of the original soundtrack.

5 out of 5 stars post modern ragtime meets palm court.......2006-04-11

A terrific suite of small pieces suffused with melancholy underneath even the most upbeat melodies. This is a composer with whom I was unfamiliar until seeing a San Francisco Ballet piece choreographed to music from this CD. The program notes to BLUE ROSE which was a World Premiere in the 2006 season say in part:

"On the heels of his decision to create one new work for the 2006 Repertory Season, Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson launched into a second premiere for the Company, Blue Rose. After hearing composer Elena Kats-Chernin's CD Ragtime and Blue, Tomasson couldn't resist. "It's fun-it has a kind of joy to it," he says, and you don't doubt him for a minute-just talking about the music brings a smile to his face." Yu may be able to read more at the SF ballet website www.sfballet.org

Unfortunately the CD seems to be available only via a UK label but it's worth waiting for - I've had it spinning every evening in the two weeks since it arrived.

This Cd is one of those Cds you can play all the way through. Each song is different one will make you cry, one will make you want to sing, and you will feel like rejoicing. I would buy this cd just for "Seasons" my favorite song, but this song allways lifts your spirits and bless you every time you hear it.

5 out of 5 stars Donald is a Genius.......2004-09-09

Donald Lawrence has truly out done himself with "Go Get Your Life Back." This has to be the greatest project that Donald has ever produced. My favorite songs are "Go Get YOur lIfe Back," and "Lord I Try."

5 out of 5 stars All That.......2004-05-20

When I first bought this CD, although it came highly recommended, I wasn't all that interested. But, it is real good. From start to finish. Some of the songs (Seasons, The Best is Yet to Come, Prayer of Jabez)have been used in a couple of weddings, and can be used for other occasions as well. When I caught it on the second time, I really fell in love with it. So as far as I'm concerned, it is the best.

4 out of 5 stars Daz at his finest.......2007-07-09

I rememeber when this album came out I had to get it(you see back then you could guarantee that any album off Deathrow was going to be great). I wasnt dissapointed and I still think that Daz is terribly underrated as a producer. The album has a slew of guest features but dont think that only the songs with guest spots are good. Great solo joints like Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back and In California proved you wrong. Kurupt and Daz hammer out DPG classic joints like It's Going Down and Our Daily Bread(back when Kurupt was still spittin'). B-Legit joins in on the smooth Playa Partners and Snoop makes his present felt on O.G. 2pac(RIP), Kurupt and The Outlawz join in on the overlooked gem Initiated. Too Short joins in on the fun in It Might Sound Crazy and Gang Bangin A** Criminal(which feature Tha Gang, Kurupt and Technique) is the hardest song on the album. This album is not without its flaws. Baby Mama Drama is hard on the ears and Only For U is a forced love joint which features horrific singing from Val Young. Thank God For My Life is another skippable track. After these three the rest of the album is smooth sailing. Bottom Line: Daz Dillinger's Retaliation, Revenge And Get Back is a west coast gem that should be in every fan of west coast rap's collection. It's one of the few great albums from Deathrow that wasnt made by Tupac. Daz was still sharp with the flow, the production(with the exception of three songs) was on point and the guest appearances were on fire too. Standout Tracks: GANG BANGIN A** CRIMINAL, PLAYA PARTNERS, IT MIGHT SOUND CRAZY, OUR DAILY BREAD, INITIATED, RETALIATION REVENGE AND GET BACK, O.G., IN CALIFORNIA, OH NO and THE ULTIMATE COME UP.

3 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars.......2006-10-01

Daz's debut solo is and average release. it has its moments and its drawbacks. i like he keeps it around the dogg pound vibe and the lyrics are okay. Production is average and the guest are good. it worth checking out and giving it a good listen to.

3 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars for Daz Dillenger's first solo spot..............2006-09-22

This joint was released after Death Row was dismantled and everyone went their seperate ways. Daz was the only recognizable survivor of the Death Row dynasty left. So obvious the results of this joint is mixed. My personal favorite cut on here is "It might sound crazy" with Nate Dogg on the hook.

5 out of 5 stars Daz Puts It Down For The LBC On This Joint!.......2006-09-18

Retaliation Revenge And Get Back comes in early 1998, most definitely not at the height of the G-Funk era, but of course, the album has the feel of it. The beats are bangin from start to finish, with a hungry Daz killing the mic with his killa flows. Daz is both a rapper and producer, both he does extremely well. The best joint is "O.G." where he, Snoop and Nate Dogg unite and bring that mobbin Death Row style they all brought years earlier, over a smooth, both laid back, yet mobbin' beat that defines the LBC sound! "Baby Mama Drama" is a serious analysis on how some fathers get stiffed by their baby mamas, even when they are there for their kids and provide for them, over a laid back G-Funk beat. "Gang Bangin A-- Criminal" is another classic. After a long intro, the song rolls on with a hard knock mobbin' beat and serious flows from Daz, and a whole gang of his ESLB cuddies like Bad Azz, Tray Deee, and many more. Daz puts it down for Cali, on his classic anthem, "In California," over one of those hot lowrider beats, a definite West Coast anthem. There is much much more to offer through the rest of the album. Definitely a must add for your G-Funk and gangsta rap collection.

5 out of 5 stars Dat Nigga Daz is Back!!.......2006-03-31

SUPERB...
Stylish
and concrete

A terrific album here in Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back.
I bought the CD on release date back in 1998.... why am I just now writing about it? I still bust out this album and listen to it to this day!

One has to question why Daz would attempt this album. You're the only star remaining on Death Row Records for the time. You're the head of the label operations. No Limit is stealing the show! There's clearly no hope for a West Coast attempt.....

That's what's so impressive about this album. A strong delivery from Daz Dillinger, whom still pulls out the grey and blue theme- with or without a Dogg Pound label on the album. Kurupt's presense is heavily felt through out and even opens the album.

1. INTRO- Mean, rough production bonds the likes of Kurupt and Tray Dee to present the toughness of The Gang.
3. PLAYA PARTNA- A great track here as B-Legit sprays some slanguage in with a nice Bass guitar rythme.
4. IT MIGHT SOUND CRAZY- Excellent production, cavi and soulful. Appropriately features Too $hort to add Pimpish flavor amongst a "player" track.
5. OUR DAILY BREED- Sequel to track from "Dogg Food" album. Added beats keep this in the winning category as delivery is even stronger in some parts by The Dogg Pound.
6. IN CALIFORNIA- Upbeat, aggressive and street friendly! Lady V adds immensely to the chorus! A stand out single and props to Soopafly on the nice beat here!
7. INITIATED- Album highlight here!! 2pac is featured along with The Outlawz.... A stout performance by all and a smooth line of production here. Nothing animated but bold.
10. O.G.- Excellent tune with Death Row originals Snoop & Nate Dogg. Song easily has "Chronic" days production! Fluent in street issues and drama. Nate steels the show!
13. RIDIN HIGH- W.C. is the partner in crime here. Great casting for the two as the deliver is strong! Jumpin beat with funky, jazzin piano beats that hyber this tune up.

Just to name the stand outs here, the remaining tracks are achieving as well in their own individual ways. Very impressive release for "Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back" as it debuted at number 9 on the Billboards and peaked the West back in for a while.

Stands out in any collection as this album covers so many issues and brings out the Westcoast talent at the same time. Dominating on all aspects. Each song destinctive and critical to the overall aspect. Death Row's Last real winner...

This is clearly Daz Dillinger's best effort to date. Perhaps every now and again it wouldn't hurt for Daz to go back and listen to it as his latest projects are for label income only.
Hopefully the new DPGC reunion album with have as strong of a delivery as this production!!

Despite mindless suggestions to the contrary, it's on Gracenote. And it's an official release. Sure, it's Russian. But they made pretty good ICBM's, I think CD's would not be outside their technical expertise. Good sounds, good value, prejudice aside, what's not to like?

    1 out of 5 stars Official Release?.......2007-05-07

EMI hasn't released "Get Back" as an album. Glynn Johns edited this track order together after the 1969 sessions, which eventually, producer Phil Spector put together to make "Let It Be." I am not sure what this release is. If it doesn't have an APPLE CORPS/Parlophone/or Capitol/EMI logo on it, then you decide what it is. I only wish EMI would release this on CD, along with Beatles videos and more. Paul McCartney is STILL sitting on a goldmine in his own "bootleg" compilation: "Cold Cuts," along with dozens of great music videos. Let's hope this stuff gets released while some of the fans are still alive.

Rehersal-like tracks from the masters, amazingly dynamic and performed with humor and honesty on "Get Back". Like the Beach Boys and Rolling Stones, this sound is different on every listening but always wonderful.

    Album Description

Stan Getz is considered one of the greatest tenor saxophone players of all time, known as "The Sound" because of his warm, lyrical tone. In 1961, Getz returned to the USA and soon became a central figure in the Bossa Nova. In 1962, Getz recorded the hit record 'Jazz Samba', with Charlie Byrd who had just returned from a tour of Brazil. Getz also won a Grammy for Best Jazz Performance in 1963. He then recorded 'The Girl from Ipanema' with Jobim, João Gilberto and Astrud Gilberto and not only did it win him another Grammy, but it also became one of the best known Latin jazz pieces ever recorded. The first half of this album was recorded shortly after Getz's return to the USA, at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1961, and features Steve Kuhn on piano, Scott LaFaro on bass, and Roy Haynes on drums, while the second half was recorded live in Berlin in 1966, and features Gary Burton on vibraphone, Chuck Israel on bass and Roy Haynes on drums. Get Back Records 2007.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Getz with vibraphone.......2007-07-25

This cd from the italian label Get Back is a nice addiction to a complete Stan Getz discography. The cd is not in the jewel box, is packaged in a "paper box". The cover is very well known, I think this album was published in the vynil form in the past, but I'm not sure. It is composed by two concerts. The first is a classic soloist plus piano combo date recorded in USA in 1961, featuring Steve Kuhn (piano), Scott LaFaro (!! bass), Roy Haynes (drums). The second concert (from "Dolphin street" on ...) was recorded in 1966 in Berlin and it is the most interesting among the two sessions presented here. Here you'll find a different combo with Gary Burton on vibraphone, Chuck Israel on bass and still the marvellous Roy Haynes on drums. If you'll like this kind of combo you can find this same line up in another album from Getz, "Nobody else but me" (generally speaking "Nobody" is a better cd than this one, the concert is longer and better recorded ... the repertoire even more interesting, so I highly suggest that record too) which is another concert from this same period released by Verve some years ago. The music is very good as it always happens with Getz of course. He soars and interplays perfectly with the two groups that supported him. Personally I prefer the date with Burton because combos with vibrophone instead of the piano are very rare but the sound they could generate is extremely pleasing to my ear, especially with Getz as the main voice. Infact Getz with his dreamy sound, his lovely romantic lines, his perfect sense of forms in my opinion finds himself in another, "new" ideal setting with the vibrophone. If you consider that this album together with "Nobody else but me" (out of print actually) is the only one where you can find Getz in this kind of situation you should agree that "not buying" could not be an option. The overall recording quality is not absolutly perfect (disappointing in some moments), but we can pass over this thing here, considering the importance, the rarity and the quality of the music.
