If one's notion of "world music" promises a touch of the exotic and indigenous, often overlooked is the fact that the influence of western pop music has seeped into every corner of the globe, creating a hybrid that's often more than merely the sum of its influences. Theater vet Brightman steps into that pan-cultural hall of mirrors here, wedding her fascination with the music and rhythms of the "forbidden places" (the title's Arabic meaning) of the Middle East to her own oft ethereal vocal charms and rock-solid sense of drama. And if the diva's equally sound crossover sensibilities (and that of longtime producer Frank Peterson) sometimes mire it in familiar world-beat pastiche, Brightman's charmed muse manages some transcendent moments nonetheless. Her musical borrowings (Borodin for the title track; Puccini's *Madame Butterfly* for "It's a Beautiful Day") are as compelling as her choice of collaborators: classical violin star Nigel Kennedy and Iraqi vocalist Kadim Al Sahir add compelling touches to the weary timeliness of "The War is Over." The musical influences range from Europe across the Mediterranean and as far East as the Indian roots of "Bollywood" composer A.R. I'm very new to Sarah brightman's music and I enjoy this CD. I think she has an amazing voice. Very talented young woman and this cd was very relaxing and joyful to listen to. I like to learn and heard more from Sarah Brightman.

Stranger in Paradise - More Like Stranger in a Lost Cause.......2006-12-30

I'm not throughly pleased with this album! This CD is only good if you know how to dance in a Middle-Easters fashion. About half of each track is dominated by all orchestrations and no Sarah. Plus, Pop-Sarah isn't really for me. I much prefer the Classical-Sarah. Some of the tracks are okay, like "Harem", "The Journey Home", "Beautiful", and "Stranger in Paradise". Really, this is a good CD for your collection, but I wouldn't listen to it on a 24/7 basis.

I own this cd. I saw her in person at the "Harem" concert. Never had I heard or seen any voice like this. What a performer, best concert I'd ever seen. Beautiful voice, I can never get enough of Sarah Brightman's music. It is so comforting at times. I have all her music and this cd makes you wonder, how can she top this? Thank you Sarah Brightman for giving us your beautiful gift of music.

Sarah is just the best, she can hit any note and her individuality shines on this CD. She sings "The Journey Home" from the musical Bombay Dreams and her voice just soars. "Harem", "Mysterious Ways" and "You Take My Breah Away" are songs that take me to dreamland. Amazing! A master piece!

"Now is the time", the 2006 delirious? live concert at Willow Creek is a phenomenal value full CD and DVD pack - for the price of a budget CD. But there is nothing budget about this production - from the artwork, packaging, to the filming and most important the performance, delirious? creativity and excellence is stamped all over it. Congratulations to the band and production team!

What an amazing offering - and this band knows the spiritual understanding of 'offering'. This is contemporary stadium pop-rock at its best - irrespective of labels - Christian or secular market. Oftened likened to U2, delirious? are an experienced, edgy, professional outfit who play with exuberance and joy. They are the British Christian rock supergroup of the last 15 years although it would be a label they'd distance themselves from.

Having seen them twice at the New Zealand Parachute festival, I believe this captures them at the peak of their powers. They don't hold back as they journey through 15 classic tracks that encourage as much crowd participation as possible.

I loved the different filming angles that captures the light show and faces of performers and audience. With this DVD, the concert experience is more important than focusing on whether the drummer is using a flams or rim shots, or what foot pedal the guitarist is using. That's not to say that the camera doesn't focus on the appropriate musician - it just that overall the filming has creative feel.

Martin Smith still has as youthful, and infectious stage presence as what he did ten years ago. He connects with the audience with friendly eye contact, impish smile and gestures. He amazes me each time I see him again. He can be sincere and gentle and the next minute cajoling the crowd to sing out an anthem roar. He's particularly strong in the title track, 'Now is the time' and 'Every little thing' as is Stu G, who seems to grow and display stronger guitar sounds with each new album. Stu G has a wonderful array of tones and solos that are more of the Edge guitar school rather than Satriani shred. I've never heard him play with such abandon as what he plays on this album.

Yes, this is a fun concert to watch but its more than this as I kept being drawn into their hopeful, uncompromising message. 'Our God reigns' displays this - challenging, uplifting rock.

Certainly this is the time that they shine for their King.

This set lends itself to greatly enhancing one's knowledge of the orchestra, instruments in it, and their usage. I am a huge music buff, and I still picked up a great deal I previously did not know. I highly recommend this for all who wish to understand the origin of music, as well as the processes that are employed to create music!

This CD is excellent for the beginner or expert! To be able to haear the instrumets separately and then together really provides a good education. and/or refresher. The book thaty comes with the CD is alomost worth the price by itself!

Very Informative and Enjoyable.......2006-11-20

Whether you're a music novice or pro, "The instruments of the Orchestra" is a very worthwhile purchase. The 7 CDs, with a total of 8 hours, are expertly narrated by Jeremy Siepmann. He's a great speaker, very much like the late Leonard Bernstein was. Mr. Siepmann takes you on an unforgetable musical journey covering the origins and use of the various orchestral instruments throughout musical history. The balance between his narration and a wealth of musical examples, which range from snippets to entire movements, is superb. The comprehensive enclosed booklet is excellent and faithfully follows the 7 CDs in content. Even with my 40+ years of music training I still learned new things from this wonderful collection. Considering the excellence of the content, and a cost that translates to about $5 per disc, this collection is a great value. Grab it, you won't regret that you did. Five solid stars!

This boxed set of CD's with booklet achieved all I had hoped that it would. There are good samples of individual instruments and well done commentary on each. The only drawback was that some of the samples were too brief and could have been longer, hoiwever I guess this fits in with time constraints of the medium. It has given me a lot of clues as to future purchases of CD's for listening to individual instruments. Altogeth a satisfactory purchase and a welcome addition to my collection.

Excellent Intro for Those Not Familiar with the Orchestra.......2003-11-08

I've listened to classical music for years and am interested in composition. I bought this CD set to learn how an orchestra and its instruments work. I thought the CDs would be a nice but boring lecture. They aren't! Not only are they FUN but they are informative as well. I learned a huge amount from each CD and couldn't wait to listen to the next one.

The narrator and writer is a great speaker and holds your attention well. He is definitely knowledgeable. He provides musical examples for each point he makes, so you get to "hear" what he just talked about. I'd say the CDs are about 65% music and 35% narration. You'll learn about the range of instruments, some history, different ways to play them, how they sound, and how they are used in the orchestra. This CD set was a great learning experience and is sold at such a low price!

I recommend this CD for those who want to learn about classical music and those who know about it but are interested in learning more about the inner workings of an orchestra. You'll learn much useful information. For instance, the Rite of Spring (with that eerie start) is written for bassoon! I never knew a bassoon could sound like that but now I do.

The greatest songs ever?.......2007-07-26

I heard 'clear or cloudy', from this recording, on the radio recently and had to purchase it. It is strange but it is the sort of song that makes life prior to listening to it different from life after. I find it sad that so many people haven't heard it. There are also many other wonderful works in this collection. Given you get twelve well recorded CDs with top quality performances, this has to be one of the bargains of the age.

A musical treasure-box.......2006-09-10

Both the music and this actual product are masterpieces. John Dowland's collected works here - covering 12 compact discs - exhibit the depth and power of this composer, a composer who many now regard as suffering from clinical depression. I doubt that the issue of the diagnosis of Dowland's depression can ever be settled, however, it is certainly obvious from his music, so completely on display here, that he was a man with very dark depths and corners in his mind. Dowland's various manifestations and "takes" on his own tune, "Flow my tears"/"Lachrimae" are here. This tune has haunted me ever since I first heard it when I was a child. It seems to sum up Dowland's feelings - at least Dowland seems to have thought so.

The First, Second, Third and Fourth Bookes of Songes, A Musicall Banquet, the keyboard transcriptions, all the lute music, consort music are here and virtually everything else written or supposedly written by John Dowland. Anthony Rooley and The Consort of Musicke perform this music with style and feeling throughout. This 12 CD set is something of a monument to the ensemble - I only wish they'd finished their collection of Monteverdi madrigals, which was equally good (La Venexiana are currently doing a magnificent job of recording all Monteverdi's books of madrigals for the GLOSSA label).

This is an expensive set, however, you will probably never need to buy another John Dowland CD again after buying and listening to this collection.

I bought this CD set on a mild Summer evening of 1998 and listened to it while sitting in my sun room - which a glorious orange sunset in progress, and a glass of wine. It brought back so many memories.

a beautiful journey into melancholy.......2001-06-15

I'm amazed at how many people tend to associate John Dowland's music with a tragic sense of drama. While no doubt this is art highly based on sadness, the "tragic" sense of it is more a legacy from the Romantic period. During the Renaissance, however, sadness was undestood as a very aesthetic way of approaching life. That is also the reason why Shakespeare's tragedies appear more sophisticated than his comedies.

Selections from the Greatest Voice of the Last Hundred Years.......2007-03-13

Mario Lanza was, arguably, the greatest tenor and greatest singer of this and the last century. It is difficult to appreciate him without listening to a variety of selections. This collection has some of his best recordings and exhibits the versatility and variety that he possessed that permitted him to "crossover" from opera to popular music with a ease.

I recommend this for those who already know Lanza to some extent but want to go into more depth and understand his marvelous skills.

A Must Have .......2006-12-12

I had forgotten what a beautiful voice Mario Lanza had. This collection contains opera and pop selections that exhibit the power yet sweetness of his voice. Fortunately, we have his CD's and videos so we can remember and listen to his gorgeous, vibrant voice and personality. I highly recommend this collection along with his wonderful movies, especially The Great Caruso.

WONDERFUL!!!!!.......2005-10-19

The Mario Lanza Collection is a three CD set and it has 61 songs and they all sound great. The mastering on this set is excellent and the song choice is very very good. It would have been perfect if they added a forth CD with more Arias, Italian songs and Sacred Arias. BUT still this set is a great introduction to Lanza. Lanza's voice was powerful and beautiful; if you are a fan of great singing, you will love Lanza. Highlights on this CD set are; Be my Love, Because your Mine, Serenade, With a Song in My Heart, Temptation, The Lord's Prayer, Ciribirbin, O Solo Mio, Ariverducci Roma, and on and on. They are many many great songs on this set, and I highly recommend it.

The Polysics are insane. At least, they sound that way in "Now Is The Time."

In their sixth album, the Japanese band hurtles through a bunch of wild new-wave rockers that smash through the speakers and flattening resistance, sounding like a hallucinating punk band falling off a cliff. In fact, it's kind of exhausting to listen to even one of their songs.

It opens with the smashing riffs and rapid-fire drums of ",á! ,á! ,á! (Tei! Tei! Tei!)," a song that rapidly tangles itself in a cycling synth and some thunderous basslines, sprinkled with spiralling synth. It's a fun, wonky song, but it's also rather repetitive -- once you've heard the first thirty seconds, you've heard the entire song.

Things improve with the next song "?µ?¢?ç...Ö?· is Android (Shiirakansu Is Android)," a ripping rapid-fire synthpop song punctuated with "Shii-ra-kan-su's ANDRO-OID!" It also sets the tone for the songs that follow -- energetic guitarpop, sizzling rockers with a spacey edge show up in this, like the cheerfully wacky "Monaliza Oh!"

But there are also weirder songs, which push the envelope for pure rock dementa. These include hard-rocking glitchpop, rapid synthpop interspersed with chaotic little noises -- everything from bubbles to wails -- and the baby-voiced Devo-esque pop of "Baby Bias."

I don't really recommed hearing all of "Now Is The Time!" at once -- it's too exhausting to hear all these speed-of-light rockers all at once. But you have to give the Polysics credit -- most bands don't stay this enthusiastic after several albums.

The core of their music is usually guitars and bass, played VERY fast and very energetically, so that you feel like you're being swept just ahead of the rapid-fire punkiness. But they're always festooned with some Devoesque synth -- sometimes in stabs and sometimes in ripples; sometimes colourful and wacky, and sometimes bubbly or bizarre.

And it's not really surprising that the singing and lyrics are every bit as energetic and strange. Some of the lyrics are in Japanese, a spattering in English, and some are just gibberish. Hiroyuki Hayashi wails and roars through the songs with almost manic energy, backed up by the high voices of Kayo and Fumi in some of the songs.

"Now is the Time" suffers from a weak beginning, but rapidly gets its footing in a completely insane, unpredictable punk-pop-noise-electronic collection. Confusing but fun.

Gaaaa!!!.......2007-01-29

POLYSICS, I first heard of them while living in Japan, but never found any of their music in any store. So I had to come back to the states to get my hands on it. This album contains so much powered up energy that it's liable to explode in your hands if not handled carefully. All the tracks on this album will get you going. If you're ever lucky enough to see POLYSICS live you will never, ever see a show with more raw power and energy. Now IS the time to get this album and hear the best of what's going on on the other side of the world.

Polysics do NOT suck!!!.......2006-08-03

An earlier review noted that this disc comes across as a little more produced than stuff like NEU or Hey! Bob! (which, once it goes into my player, usually stays there for at least three days straight), and I would second that contention, and even more I hope they don't start (unwittingly or non-) going the way of Devo and losing that amazing level they hit with Oh No! and just couldn't retain as the years plied on.

But there are still many a grand moment to be had in this outgoing, even if it isn't music that makes you see them all rolling about on the stage and jumping over each other like a song like Kaja Kaja Goo can make you do...

...though I must admit that when I found the video for I My Me Mine on YouTube, I was thrilled. It's awesome--just search it out....

...still, songs like Tei! Tei! Tei! and Walky Talky are sharp and bouncy just the same. You might need to turn the volume up a little-bit higher on this one than others to make you start Charlie-Browning about the room, but do not give hope up on it. Polysics or Die, they've said.

POLYSICS OR DIE!!!!1.......2006-04-28

I had already heard songs such as "New Wave Jacket" and "I My Me Mine" over the internet, so I decided to buy my first Polysics album. I picked "Now Is The Time!". I must say it was a great choice for my first Polysics disc. I wouldn't get someone who had never heard of them before "Neu" or "Hey Bob" being they are non-stop sonic assaults. Well, on to the track-by-track review:

1. Tei! Tei! Tei! - Great album opener. Tells people what Polysics is all about at the start of the album without them running away. Guitar riffs, screaming and synths. 10/10

2.Ceolakanth Is Android - Starts with a weird clunky robot noise and then turns into a song that would be an instant classic in the Polysics community. Fast guitar riff with synth in the background. The vocoder is a nice touch. This album shows us something that hasnt happened much in Polysics history. Hayashi singing. Usually he screams and lets Fumi and Kayo handle the singing, but he is a real lead singer in this album. 9/10

3.I My Me Mine - The lead single for this album. Great choice. It is the danciest song on the album. The flute and classical piano make this song something that you wouldn't usually get from Polysics, but that is definetly not a bad thing at all. 10/10

4.Ah-Yeah!! - Cool riff. I don't know how to describe it exactly. Hayashi raps on this track. One of the weirder ones, that's for sure. I like the guitar stuff inbetween verses. It's got a great sound. Maybe it would make a bit more sense if it was in english. I dig the vocoder voice that comes in about the middle and the keyboard solo that comes after it. 9/10

5.Walky Talky - This one is more of the weird, DEVO inspired numbers Polysics have done. The verses have absolutely nothing to do with the chorus. In my opinion the intro and chorus are better than the verses. But the synth solo built around the verse is pretty cool. I like it. 9/10

6.Wild One - Weird intro. Nice song, though. I think this might be some old song, because it sounds very familiar to me. It sounds like a song from the fifties or sixties in the verses. The synth solo which sounds like it came from a Game Boy reminds you that this is Polysics, though. I like this one. 10/10

7.Super Sonic - The intro sounds like a computer dying. And then the driving drums come in along with the guitar and create awesomeness. This song does take a temporary turn for the weird at times, but a lot of songs on this album do. So I'm cool with it. I like how the song sounds like it's skipping in the near end. I know it's not, because I just got this CD today. 8/10

8.Toisu! - Weird intro. Surf song with bleeps in the background. Hayashi knows the Dick Dale style and uses it to his advantage. The song breaks down in the middle and is real cool sounding, with computer noise everywhere. This song reminds me of a track from "For Young Electric Pop", one of their Japan-only albums, "Mad Mac". 10/10

9.Boy's Head - This one is kinda weird for me. I don't know. I like the guitar part, but Hayashi is singing, trying to sound like he is sexy. I like the chorus better than the rest of the song, really. And then some guy (It doesent sound like Hayashi) starts talking over the music and it gets mellow. That quickly goes away because this is Polysics we are talking about. The song ends abruptly on a piano chord. 7/10

10.Oh! Monaliza - What the hell? It's a crazy japanese childrens song. It's fun, though, I'll give it that. I find it hard to describe. Just listen to the sample of it, I guess. - 9/10

11.Jhout - DDR paced techno starts this song off, a nice fat bassline and Hayashi's singing kick in. The surf-style guitar and synth that get added later add to the song. Some vocals get digitally lowered to sound really weird. The song ends with an extra long scream from Hayashi. 8/10

12.Mr. Psycho Psycho - I confess to downloading this song before getting the album. It starts with a driving drumbeat and some synth. A difficult sounding riff is played by guitar and bass at the same time. The high-pitched singing has grown on me. I like how between the "Psycho"'s the keys sound like they are being hit randomly. It breaks down in the middle with a raygun solo, but quickly goes back to the original song. I love this one. 10/10

13.Skip It - Starts with guitar and synth doing the same riff. This song has a very old feel, even though it's got synths going thru it almost the whole way. It's one of the more slow paced songs on the album. I like the chorus more than the verse, but the verse is great as well. I, for once, can understand Hayashi's english. I usually have to look at a lyrics page before I can understand him. 9/10

14.Baby BIAS - Very cool synths. Fumi and Kayo's voices blend together greatly. This is more J-Pop than the usual Polysics song. I like how Hayashi's scream was echoed. It's a very dancy song. I don't know what else to say about it. 10/10

15.Bye Bye Bye - A weird song in general. I don't know what to write about it. The vocoder is a nice touch. Hayashi is actually very good at hitting the high notes. I like how the song has an old vibe inbetween the verses and the vocoder parts. It ends with somebody saying "Bye bye" a few times in a weird voice. I don't know about this one. 8/10

All in all, it's a very good album. I would recommend it to anybody.

An uplifting experience.......2006-12-05

If one takes into account the time at which this recording was made, and the surrounding events affecting his life, one can truly appreciate the significance of this album. Experiencing oppression not only from the U.S. but later the Canadian government to travel abroad, Robeson was impeded, but not prevented from singing in the name of peace, human rights, and the rights of the common worker. Victory was at hand when on May, 9 1958, the date of this recording, Paul Robeson announced that his passport battle had been won. This is the recording of a triumphant gentleman, a loving, ecstatic audience, and very importantly, a talented and very attuned pianist (Alan Booth). With this in mind one can more greatly appreciate how special this concert was. The magic of this recording trancends Robeson's impeccable singing. It is the concert as a whole that makes it so spectacular. Listen to 'Joe Hill', think of Robeson's battle, and hear why it is so powerful. Or listen to 'O No John', Alan Booth pounding the keys on the last notes, and the audience's response. Every person in Carnegie Hall was riveted. Well worth the price, and an uplifting experience.

One of the best, and latest, of the Robeson recordings..........2006-10-17

This concert came along in 1958, when Paul's passport was restored and he was allowed to travel and make a living again, after several years of being on the Communist blacklist. His joy at performing once more for his traditional audience comes through in every track. That same year, he did a concert at his brother's church in Harlem, and when Columbia Records issued that one, it had another winner. Not long after those shows, Paul went overseas for five years, suffering a health crisis that brought him back to America in 1963, broken down and unable to perform consistently. He spent his last decade or so of life on the sidelines, living quietly with his sister in Philadelphia. This concert, then, along with the one at Mother Zion Church, is one of the final triumphs of one of the most interesting American lives. We know now that Paul's stubborn support of the Soviet Union in the Stalin era was a tragic flaw in his character, but he had magnificent gifts of voice and of acting presence, and had he come to the attention of audiences in 1957 instead of 1927, he would likely have earned millions as a singer and actor, and his political and social radical activism would have been a much smaller impediment to his career. If you already own some Robeson recordings, add this one because it represents him at the beginning of what was then "old age." If you own none, this concluding album is actually a fine starting point, because his earlier work suffers a bit from the primitive recording technology of the '30's and '40's.

Paul Robeson Live.......2006-07-11

Of course his baritone is fabulous. His rendition of Joe Hill is unforgettable - this was a song he sang for the builders' labourers on the site of the Sydney Opera House in around 1969 -also Old Man River, which he made his own. He should have sung this in the film of the musical Showboat but he was passed over for an inferior voice by the producers because he was a member of the Communist Party. A pity. He also sings some gospel on this CD, I'm not mad about religious songs but if you like them then you'll love this.

This version is now redundant as Vanguard has released a version in 2005 with the original album cover for the first time and with new sleeve notes. The sound is also better. I purchased it from amazon.co.uk.

Not the original artists. Very weak versions of beloved songs by marginal to downright bad vocalists.

Pretty good musical mix.......2006-03-10

Lots of great and clear vocals. I was looking for a musical mix and this has a nice sampling of many major songs but also some more recent stuff. I haven't purchased an import before but I would do it again if the opportunity presented itself. It is somewhat annoying to have three cds when I think it could have fit onto two. Still, more than I have complaints, I have compliments about it.

Majestic hymns sung with British accents. A great combination! I haven't noticed any objectionable sounds on my copy.

i grew up in a traditional presbyterian church that had a pipe organ. i wanted a cd of many of the hymns that we sang in church sung by a choir and accompanied by a pipe organ. this cd fulfilled my wishes perfectly. the hymns are performed in a very straight-forward fashion with no show-boating or excess flourishes which is exactly what i wanted. this is not gospel music but what i refer to as liturgical music to indicate that it is religious music but not gospel music. i would give it 5 stars but there is a slight hiss. other than that the recording quality is very good.

While the sales of Sarah Brightman's ambitious, Middle Eastern-themed 2003 album Harem may have fallen short of its predecessor, the veteran UK chanteuse's popularity as a live performer has only mushroomed. This live recording of her ambitious, sold-out Harem World Tour engagement at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Arena is testament to that appeal, begging the question: Will Brightman become the Grateful Dead of classical crossover? Indeed, abetted by the rich sonic textures of longtime producer/collaborator Frank Peterson, the worldbeat conceits of her recent studio recordings are folded into a larger, even more expansive live vision here. This CD rocks! This is Sarah Brightman on her Harem World Tour, and this performance was recorded at her stop in Las Vegas. The first two tracks, "Kama Surta" and "Harem Overture" debut from her newest album, entitled HAREM. The two tracks are connected, but in the actual Harem Tour, the full piece "Harem" is sung. If you go to www.youtube.com and type in "Harem Tour" in the Search Bar, you can see live videos. I would prefer that the album has placed "Harem" instead of these other two tracks. The third track, "It's A Beautiful Day", is from Madame Butterfly, written by Puccini. This version is Brightman's twist, which some more pop and some English. It's pretty cool. The fourth track on the album, "Dust in the Wind" is from EDEN, an amazing album. Track 5 is, "Who Wants to Live Forever", and it seems as though Brightman never creates a tour without putting this piece in it. It's a beautiful tribute to Queen's rendition. Track Six is "Anytime, Anywhere", also from EDEN. I'm not really into the Foreign Language - English songs, but this works very well, especially because she ends the song with the classical foreign language. The seventh track is Brightman's rendition of Dvorak's "Song to the Moon", or "La Luna". The track is beautiful! The eighth track is Puccini's "Nessun Dorma", and Sarah masters this beautifully! There is no other soprano I know that can sing this piece one octave up and can hold the ending note for ever!!! Track 9 is "The War is Over", which is followed by "Free", both from HAREM. Track 11 is "A Whiter Shade of Pale", from LA LUNA. It's beautiful to listen to. Sarah's version is very gentle, but has a lot of energy in the chorus. The twelfth track on this album is "Twisted Every Way", followed by an instrumental version of "The Phantom of the Opera" Theme. The next track is "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", which is extended at the end, in which you hear some men cry out "WE LOVE YOU SARAH!", and she responds cutely with an, "I love you, too." The audience laughs! Track 14 is "Time to Say Goodbye", the duet that made Andrea Bocelli famous, and skyrocketed as the number one single sold in German history! The last live track on the album is "A Question of Honour", from "Fly", which is awesome! The last track on the album is a bonus track, which I don't really prefer. However, the whole album is simply amazing. I much prefer Sarah when she is live. She has a more magical quality! If you love Sarah Brightman, then you will love this album.

ALSO RECOMMENDED : Since there is so much Sarah Brightman to choose from, I also recommend EDEN, TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, LA LUNA, CLASSICS, and DIVA.

What an album, absolutly beautiful!
We, the fans of this great artist finelly have in our hands a live album, and it's amazing:
-The voice is totaly live, she sang about 24 complete songs in the show, but the album only contains 15.
-Snow In The Sahara is a lovely song.

If you have the chase of get this alubum, don't doubt and get it; It wond disapoint you!

an impeccable concert experience that successfully elevates the album to majestic heights. I had long been a fan of Dead Can Dance and the unparalleled work of Lisa Gerrard. When Sarah Brightman ventured into these Middle Eastern sounds on the Harem disc, I thought it was too derivative of the Dead Can Dance sounds (there is even a sample used on one of SB's songs that had previously been used within DCD).

However, experiencing this epic and intensely mystical concert compelled me to realize the individual and unique glory of Sarah Brightman. Also, this concert is so phenomenally entertaining at many levels that I couldn't help but fall absolutely in love with the special magic of Sarah Brightman. Obviously, the expansive Middle Eastern milieu can accommodate more than one angelic vocalist!

I now consider Lisa Gerrard and Sarah Brightman to be geniuses who both warrant goddess status in the pantheon of lyrical greats. To see either one of them perform live is surely one of the most powerful and memorable sensory experiences one could ever have!

Sarah's voice and style are terrific, as usual. However, I have to say that her version of Anggun's "Snow on the Sahara" is fairly bland, especially compared to the original Anggun version. Sarah has the chops but lacks soul on this great song. Everything els here is very nice.
