The first atmosphere album was a glimpse into the future of hip hop in the Twin Cities. All of the Headshot fans(such as myself) couldnt be more excited for the debut album for the 4 members of atmosphere (THATS RIGHT I SAID 4)

Its just a shame that they couldnt work out their differences. They had such a great sound. It was almost as if every track one emcee would set the bar and the 2 would duel to raise it higher and higher. ODE TO THE MODERN MAN is a perfect example of what iam speaking about.

If anyone wants to check out Spawn I encourage you as he is still rapping, although under a different name. He now goes by the title "REK THE HEAVYWEIGHT" check out his album "Timeless" its pretty good all though he doesnt have the help of ANT any longer. Its worth a peek

I am a HUGE hip hop fan and I loooove Atmosphere and all of their work. With that being said, this is their best album by far. EVERY TIME i'm in a bad mood or anything like that, I immediately put this CD on and it relaxes me and leaves me stress free. DEFINITELY BUY THIS ONE.

I can't say that I'm a huge fan of Atmosphere, I've copped most of all his albums but the one that stands out most to my ears is this. Overall, I really feel that this is his best record. Lyric-wise its arguable, but from start to finish I just got into this more than any other album he's done. On that note...If you want some more great hip hop--you should cop this without hesitation. You'll enjoy it.

first off, to the guy before me, its overcast! not outcast!

secondly, i agree with you partly, on the fact that his lyrics are different in all of his cd's. but one thing you said is that "his storytelling ability wasnt even shown" which isn't really true. WND and body pillow are a two off the top of my head, but they are more or less storys.

ants beats have gotten much better, but i dont think his recent beats take away from slugs talent. slug is arguably the greatest lyricist of our time, maybe all time. the way he put emotion, and the way it rolls off his tongue. him and ant are perfect

as far as spawn goes, i agree, him and slug were a good match as well, the sound of their voices complemented eachother, i respect spawn, but i was kinda mad they couldn't continue atmosphere.

but for his best record, its impossible to tell. its all about your personal style, lyk god loves ugly is a great album, but i think overcast is probably just as good. i really like spawn on the album, but im not taking anything away from god loves ugly, or sevens travel or headshots, or you cant imagine.... for that matter.well just leave it as this is an excellent record. i highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys true hip hop. id go 10 stars if i cud. listen to this album if u havnt, u need to!

This is one of the best hardcore albums i've heard in ages no matter what anyone says. Its as good as 'fight ambition to kill' and better. It has every thing heavy riffs,melodys,solos, screaming vocals. If you like, one king down and vision of disorder i would definetly recommend this

Boston Devilcore!!!.......1999-06-12

Overcast will always be the best metal band to come out of Massachusetts. Expectational Dilution is hands down their best album...what more could you want? The harsh riffs are incredible, the drumming is relentless, but the best part of this album is definetely Brian's vocals. They go from an Ozzy-esque melody to a guttural death metal scream. For anyone who thinks theyre into metal..they need this disc.

My title pretty much sums it up. One of the best bands to be ever created with members from greats by the likes of 'Shadows Fall' & 'Killswitch Engage'.
Solid brutal hooks n breakbeats to counter the deep melodies produced endlesly throughout the whole album.

I recommend to all fans of devilcore, KsE, Brian Fair vox, deathcore, metalcore and pure earf#cking music.

This band is badass, much better I think than the bands that came from their ashes(Shadows Fall and Killswitch Engage). However, despite what a previous reviewer said, these guys are definitely not straight edge as I have hung out with Brian Fair and Mike D'Antonio and they definitely enjoy their brew and bud.

Fight Ambition to Kill, is the second full length cd from overcast, and like its predecessor, Expectational Dillution, Fight Ambition to Kill is chock full of heavy punishing riffs, supercharged with underlying text of disturbing pain and punishment. The off the wall song titles add the only bit of levity to the serious and quite frankly scary world overcast creates with their haunting guitars, and brutal drum beats. A must have for lovers of heavy disturbing music. King Diamond rules!

Straight edge, Devilcore from the best.......1999-07-06

After first hearing Expectational Dilution i was blown away but i craved for something heavier and angrier and i found it in Fight ambition to kill. This album is so heavy it is the essence of Devilcore so if u like Earthcrisis u will love this.

Like Cowboy Music - Buy this CD.......2000-10-02

This CD is one of the best cowboy cd's out. Ken's originals are pleasing, the oldie's (The Blizzard, Back in the Saddle, When the Work's All Done etc) are particularly well done. Ken can actually carry a tune, has a smooth voice, write lyrics that are pleasing and not cliche on the self-penned songs, and has great production. (yes, I am from MT but I am not related to and do not know Ken - tho I'll make it a point to see him live when I can)

An artist with lots of potential.......2004-05-09

Jonathan Adams' preformance of Sanz Canarios is what first drew me in. It's full of joy and energy with variations of color and volume that no other artist that I have heard do canarios which includes John Williams (very straight forward and very fast), Yepes (slower but still straight forward), Parkening (fast and full of energy similar to Admas' in many ways but not as colorful. Adams is the only performer who uses variation in color that make the piece even more interesting. This goes the the entire CD as well. The only draw back is that Jonathan Adams does not quite have the polish of the other artist mentioned. What Adams lacks in polish he makes up for in passionate performances. He plays an exicting Koyunbaba movements I and IV, I just wish he had included the entire piece.

The recording is variable but very good. It's too closely miked on the New Age type of music and slightly to close for the classical selections.

I would love to hear more of this artist hopefully playing more classical works and complete works not just movements of works and have a little bit better recording by placing the mics a little further away from the guitar with more room ambiance.

Overall a very good first CD. 4 stars.
