5 out of 5 stars Quit Hatin'.......2007-05-13

U must B a hater to talk against S.P. The God is thorough. Can't wait 'til Sun drops another one.

4 out of 5 stars Not complete but good .......2007-02-22

A delayed album because of label politics, and it shows... You get the feeling that Styles wasnt really motivated.
but still this album has alot of surprises. If you like the D-block/ Jadakiss style of music youll appreciate this album. It's hit and miss at points; still one of the better hardcore rap album of '06.

3 out of 5 stars Interscope finally allows Styles P to release "Time Is Money".......2007-02-18

I was introduced to Styles P, Jadakiss and Sheek Louch, who are known collectively as The LOX on 2 tracks: N_____z Done Started Something w/DMX and Mase and on "24 Hours To Live" w/Mase, Black Rob, and DMX. On both tracks I knew that The LOX had a nice future on Bad Boy Records. However, I didn't see them as a shiny suit group that I knew Puffy would try to turn them into. That's exactly what happened on their first single "If You Think I'm Jiggy" and although I liked the song, Puffy did them no justice in the video. Things got better on "Money, Power, Respect" w/Lil Kim on the hook and DMX also dropping by to drop a verse. My favorite tracks were "Livin' The Life", "B______s From Eastwick", "All For The Love" and "Everybody Wanna Rat". Once Biggie died, things got tough for The LOX. Yes they would make various guest appearances as they did on Biggie's "Last Day" from "Life After Death" but with Puffy putting his career above his artists it wasn't likely for Bad Boy acts to be successful. Before you knew it, The LOX were rollin' with The Ruff Ryders and the results were pretty good. The track "Ryde Or Die" was featured on "Ruff Ryders' Volume 1" and The LOX, along with Eve, Drag-On and DMX had a nice joint on their hands. Jadakiss and Styles P also had a nice performance on the "Ruff Ryders' Anthem remix with Eve, Drag-On and DMX as well. The LOX released "We Are The Streets" and fans of their 1st CD were definitely pleased with tracks like "F_____ You", "Can I Live" w/Kasino, "Breathe Easy", "Blood Pressure" and the DJ Premier produced "Recognize". Once Jadakiss dropped his solo debut "Kiss The Game Goodbye", Styles P was the next member to test the solo waters. "A Gangster And A Gentleman" ended up being better than I thought. I figured without Jadakiss and Sheek Louch by his side, Styles P with have a hard time with things. However, I was wrong with tracks like "The Life", the 1st single "Good Times", "Lick Shots" w/Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and J-Hood, "I'm A Ruff Ryder" w/Jadakiss and "We Thugs, My N_____s" w/Jadakiss and Sheek Louch. Seeing that this CD was released in 2002, a 2nd Styles P. CD was way overdue. After this release the only LOX releases that were officially released were Jadakiss' 2nd solo CD, "Kiss Of Death". Sheek Louch released 2 solo CDs with "Walk Witt Me" and "After Taxes" and they released a short D-Block Mixtape that only had about 8 tracks on it. No LOX CD or no Styles P 2nd CD had been released at all.

Then all of a sudden late 2005/early 2006 I heard a track entitled "I'm Black" which featured Floetry and I got my hopes up that a Styles P CD would be released soon. Then in the Spring of 2006 I heard another track entitled "Can U Believe It" w/Akon that was produced by Lil Jon. Still everytime you heard a release date for the CD, the time came and went. In between all of these events a beef had ensued between 50 Cent and G Unit and Jadakiss, Styles P, Sheek Louch, and J-Hood. 50 threatened that he would push Styles P CD back and it seemed that his ramblings were proving to be true. For some reason, the powers to be at Interscope were allowing 50 to determine when Styles' CD could or could not come out.

Finally, in December of 2006 "Time Is Money" was released. However, there was no promotion, no video, nothing..... Gladly, Styles P was let out of his contract and now he is a free agent. As to the CD, the 1st track is entitled "G Joint". J-Hood is featured on the last verse and you get a taste of what Styles P can do when he is allowed to get some music out. Styles P is at his best when he stays loyal to the streets and releases those type of songs. J-Hood has some more words for G-Unit and seeing that this CD was supposed to be released some time ago this could just be an outdated track. My favorite track on "Time Is Money" is definitely "Testify" which features Talib Kweli and is produced by DJ Hi Tek. The two rappers go back and forth on what they see is wrong in the world and in the state of hip hop. Talib Kweli definitely gives a nice lyrical performance and Hi-Tek drops another tight track. Havoc of Mobb Deep, (Yeah the same Havoc that is in G-Unit) produces "How We Live" which features Jadakiss on the chorus. However, that shows you how outdated this CD is because you know Havoc produced this track before he signed to G-Unit. This is one of the better tracks on "Time Is Money" and will definitely have you wishing that the next LOX CD was coming out very soon. Gerald Levert (RIP) joins Styles P on "Real S____". Scott Storch drops a tight beat and Gerald Levert leaves the teddy bear at home this time around and he drops a nice grimy hook on the track. This track would have made a nice video if the "G" man were still with us. Swizz Beatz makes an apperance with Jadakiss and Sheek Louch on Style P's remix to the mixtape cut "Who Want A Problem". The track is pretty good but is nowhere near as good as the first 4 tracks on the CD. "My Favorite Drug" uses the same sample that TI had used for his "Why U Wanna" track. "My Favorite Drug" was on a mixtape before TI made the track but we all now whose song was popular and whose song was just heard on several mixtapes in 2006. The song is pretty decent but I prefer the street Styles P over the radio friendly Styles P. "Fire And Pain" features Sizzla on the hook and is also a good track. You just wish that Interscope would have released this sooner or that once "Time Is Money" was released they would have gave this CD better promotion.

"Kick It Like That" is definitely the worst track on this CD as Styles is trying too hard to please the ladies on this song. He is also trying too hard to compose his lyrics around Jagged Edge song titles like "Walked Outta Heaven", "Hard" and "Wednesday Lover". I know that rappers need commercial songs on their CD but I know that they can sound better than this. Since "I'm Black" and "Can U Believe It" were released so early on without a CD it's nice to have them on the CD, but the tracks are clearly outdated. Interscope should have allowed Styles P to have more than 12 tracks on a CD that should have been released over a year ago.

Overall, I clearly sympathize with Styles P. We are quick to judge rappers when they release CDs that aren't up to par. However, if the label is not behind the project 100% this is clearly what happens: Bad promotion, No Marketing and overall a collective waste of time by the powers that be. I rate this CD a 3 and a half, but if Styles would have had people that believed in this project, it clearly could have been better. However, Styles P doesn't have to prove anything to me. I know that he is a quality rapper in the game today. If you don't believe me find someone that has "The Ghost In The Shell" mixtape. Styles just needs a label that is going to be behind his project. With that behind him, Styles won't be able to release a CD without anything behind it like "Time Is Money".

James' Top 5

1) Testify w/Talib Kweli
2) Real S_____ w/Gerald Levert
3) How We Live w/Jadakiss
4) G Joint w/J-Hood
5) I'm Black w/Floetry

Honorable Mention:

Fire And Pain w/Sizzla
Who Want A Problem (Remix) w/Jadakiss & Sheek Louch

4 out of 5 stars SP the ghost comes back strong.......2007-02-03

Well, it took him a veryyyy long time for his CD "Time is Money" to drop but when it finally did, it definitely bumped. With great producers on his tracks such as Scott Storch, the alchemist, Lil jon, Havoc and Swizz beatz, styles is able to captivate his listeners topped off with his raspy high pitched flow.
You may have heard the single "I'm Black" featuring Floetry, which was on the airwaves over a year ago! But it is still hot, to this day. Personal favorites of mine on this second solo project from D block member Styles P include: "Can you believe it" feat Akon (which has an awesome beat from Lil Jon), "testify" feat talib kweli and perhaps my favorite track, "who want a problem" feat the Lox and Swizz beats.
Overall, styles p brings the heat back to the game. I bet Jada drops one more solo and than they all come back together as the Lox to put together a DOPE display of lyricism, yet again!

3 out of 5 stars This one's a little bit more laid back.......2007-01-20

I was really looking for that fire hot violent side of P to come out like it does on his mixtapes and LOX projects. If you are driving long distance, listen to this album. He brings a lot of different introspect about the game and life in general.

5 out of 5 stars rap rip.......2004-08-08

one of the best texas rappers from houston. i guess we'll never know how good he could have been in the future. growing up in texas i knew my roots...latina and a fan of spm. may he rest in peace. to carlos coy and god give strength to all of the dope house records artist's.

5 out of 5 stars HE DID IT AGAIN.......2001-06-01

SPM is the best MEXICAN rapper!! No ONE could ever beat that!

3 out of 5 stars Don't Believe the Hype.......2001-02-16

Despite a few good tracks ("Oh My My," "Somethin' I Would Do"), "Time Is Money" is a lackluster album. The beats are repetitive, and SPM's flow is so-so at best, and he really doesn't speak on anything new or provocative. You'd be much better off borrowing and dubbing this album from someone who bought it off the rack.

5 out of 5 stars this is tight.......2001-01-27

this guy isnt just the best mexican rapper he is one of the best period. he derserves to blow up all over the world. His beats are super tight and so are his lyrics. He brings a new style with him that works. The best songs on here are ohh wee and the remix to you know my name. There is only one bad song on here. Go pick it up it you wont be dissapointed.

5 out of 5 stars Best CD of the Year.......2000-12-16

Yes that title is true. Among the best rap cd's of the year (Kottonmouth Kings, Threee-Six-Mafia, Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, C-Murder) there is no doubt this is the best. I just heard of SPM so this is the first album I've bought of his. Now I realize I've missed alot of good rap the past few years. Dopehouse can really turn out phat beats and smooth rhymes. The best songs are every song except for 14. Get this cd and you will wear it out I promise

1 out of 5 stars You'll be disappointed.......2006-09-02

Not the original artists. Very weak versions of beloved songs by marginal to downright bad vocalists.

5 out of 5 stars Pretty good musical mix.......2006-03-10

Lots of great and clear vocals. I was looking for a musical mix and this has a nice sampling of many major songs but also some more recent stuff. I haven't purchased an import before but I would do it again if the opportunity presented itself. It is somewhat annoying to have three cds when I think it could have fit onto two. Still, more than I have complaints, I have compliments about it.

Elaine Stritch is a legend and she knows it. And so she came up with a whole one-woman show about the best topic she could think of: her life in the theater. And what a trip it's been. From Ethel Merman to Noel Coward, Stritch has worked with some of the greatest names to grace the American stage, and she has anecdotes about all of them (most are included on this recording). In this show, she hits all the marks with the acuity of a seasoned pro who's seen it all and whose love for the theater remains undiluted. Stritch is not a traditionally pretty singer (those gravelly pipes!), but she absolutely knows how to give life to a song, extracting the last drop of meaning, dropping pauses for effect with deadly accuracy. Sondheim's "Ladies Who Lunch" and "Broadway Baby" will be hers forever, and a case could be made for the hilarious "Zip" (from Pal Joey) and the obscure, spectacularly politically incorrect "Civilization" (from the revue Angel in the Wings) as well. Fittingly, this two-CD set includes "I'm Still Here," which may well be Stritch's motto. If you're looking for a concise yet bewitching history of the musical, this is it. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A National Treasure.......2007-07-05

This double CD is stuffed full of great songs and amazing stories. My favorite stories are of Elaine's date with Marlon Brando, what she thought some lyric are/meant, and her time in Compant. The total honesty that she brings it all together is touching and inspiring.

Very few people have the length or variety of a career that Elaine Stritch has had. I am sure that she has enough stories to do ten more shows.

If you love Broadway then you must buy this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Stritch is superb.......2007-06-27

The only disappointment is that I missed the show live. This is a terrific honest performance by an actor who has a deep well of experience from which to draw. From her early childhood memories, through acting school, her loves, her struggles and more, Ms Stritch weaves a fascinating and completely enthralling story. Ultimately, she lives the songs, rather than just performs and this is what really marks her out.
I am so glad, she's still here!

3 out of 5 stars Entertaining but grating on the ears.......2007-05-11

I've never been able to understand what is so great about Elaine Stritch's singing. It's simple: she can't sing. I've tried and tried to like her, and I do, as an actress, but NOT as a singer. Listening to these CDs, all I hear is a grouchy old lady voice with no vibrato, no range, and no ability to hold notes. If she were to try out for American Idol she would get cringes! I love her humor and honesty, and that's why I bought this, but the voice...ugh.

5 out of 5 stars Great Broadway Review.......2007-04-11

I thoroughly enjoy this collection of stories from her experiences from a teenage girl in Michigan through her career, very funny, some sad and great entertainment.

4 out of 5 stars Elaine Stritch at Liberty.......2007-01-19

Completely entertaining---a bit maudilin in places, but a must have for any Elaine Stritch fan.

Certainly worth the money!

4 out of 5 stars Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19

Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.

My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.

5 out of 5 stars The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12

Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.

Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.

And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.

Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.

This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.

Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.

So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.
