You will never hear Meth like this again.......2007-02-23

This was the first Wu tang solo project and I still remember the buzz and all the hype surrounding this album up until this day. It soldout in almost every record store around my way. After the success of Meth's solo track on the 36chambers it only made sense to drop him a solo album first. Method Mans voice and ill flow was like no other. Tracks like Bring the Pain and Stimulation(which are my two favorites) showcased his best flow and lyrical arsenal. And those beats are to die for.This a very good debut album but it pales in comparison to Cuban Links and Liquid Swords to me. Still if your a fan of Meth and you heard his newer albums first and enjoyed them, then there's no reason you wont like this one. Time hasn't really hurt this album, and it stomps all over about 80% of the rap droppin' these days.

Classic Meth Brings The Pain.......2006-09-22

Classic I love every song. Meth has never really been the same since this album, but I do think Tical 2 was a classic also. This album is dark and grimy. The baseline for Biscuits will definitely rattle your trunk. Tical is ok. Bring The Pain doesnt need any comment. What The Blood Clot is classic. Meth vs Chef one of my favs I think Meth blew Chef away on that one. Other classics are Release Yo' Delf and to me Stimulation. I wished Meth still made albums like this but that was a different time back then for hip hop. Oh yeah I forgot the biggest hit All I Need is on here but if you want the remixes with Mary J Blige they sell that separately for about 4 bucks.

One member of the Wu-Tang Clan, back in '94 Method Man was known for his raspy voice, his huge afro, and that contact in his eye that made him look like he was blind in one eye. Dropping his debut "Tical" was one of the dopest solo albums from the Wu that many fans appriciated.

Getting right to the point, every song on this album, Method Man rhymes are fresh like he was back on "Enter The Wu: 36 Chambers". The lead single "Bring The Pain" was one of those rhymes as Meth proved that he can carry an album by himself. "All I Need" was another dope song (if you're not aware this is the well known song that was remixed featuring Mary J. Blige. She does NOT appear on here.) as Meth shows love for his girl.(If they decide to reissue this album, I wouldn't mind it being on here.) There are a couple of songs here where I feel Meth reaches his high point. "Sub Crazy" would be one of them, as well as "PLO Style" with Carlton Fisk and "Release Yo' Delf" with singer Blue Rasberry. A classic combination would be the song "Mr. Sandman" that features RZA, Inspetah Deck, Street Thug (now known as Streetlife), and Carlton Fisk, with Blue Rasberry singing in the background. Method Man would remix his selftitled song "M-E-T-H-O-D Man" on the last track of the album, also a great song.

Problems, I can only think of only one, and that is his raspy voice. It's not bad and it's quite unique, but there are points where you have no idea what he's saying because of it. Like the song "Stimulation", I barely can understand what he's saying in the second verse. Other than that, it's all cool.

As you can tell, this is a classic album from the Wu. If you do not have this album, and you're a Wu fan, I HIGHLY recommend that you pick this on up. It's enjoyable and arguably one of the best solos from the group between Wu's reign back in '93-'97. Unfortunately, no one can say that Meth isn't the same lyrically since this album. Comparing Meth back in '94, is like comparing Snoop Dogg's "Doggystyle" to what he's making today. They're in the same boat.

method man is by far one of the best rappers ever to walk the face of the earth and he proves it yet once again on tical. i love this cd so much. ive always heard him on the wu tang cds and thought he was great but i never realized how great he was till i litsened to his solo albums. theyre amazing. all the songs are great on the cd from start to finish. so if you want to support some real hip hop...buy this album...you wont be disappointed trust me, its really good.

The Wu-Tang warrior's second solo joint is so conceptually huge, only somebody who's been high every day for a decade could have imagined it: hip-hop album as science-fiction double-feature as celebrity parade as horror movie as multilayered masquerade as an endlessly Baroque flow of spiels and skits, hallucinatory fantasy, and killer-bee menace. The romantic strains of Tical have been replaced by pure, sweaty sex, and Meth's image transformation from laidback muscle to bloodthirsty cyborg (with a phone book's worth of guest stars) just means he compacts his flow more tightly. I Like This World!!!.......2007-07-25

I remeber when I first heard this album I didnt give it a second listen. But now after hearing it again, its Method Man's best album next to Tical. Perfect World Is not a bad opener and Cradle Rock featuring Left Eye(RIP) is crazy. Dangerous Grounds should have been the first single seeing that it was better than Judgement Day. Method Man shuts it down disrespectfully on Torture and He kills an old school sample on Retro Godfather. Play IV Keeps featuring Mobb Deep, Inspectah Deck and Streetlife is a banger that was never promoted at all(and this song came out at a time when Prodigy was STILL NICE with the mic). Spazzola featuring Streetlife, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa and Killer Sin is another banger. The title track Judgement Day is not a bad single but it is a bad first single. This is a track that if you dont feel it the first time you might like it another time not a track that is going to make you get the album. Break Ups 2 Make Ups featuring D'Angelo is Method Man's story of his grimy ex-girl and its another standout. The only songs I didnt feel is Suspect Chin Music(suspect is the word) and Sweet Love feat Cappadonna and Streetlife. Plus all those skits(with the exception of the You Play Too Much skit) are pointless to say the least. Bottom Line: Tical 2000: Judgement Day is easily Method Man's most overlooked album and is his best work next to his first one. The production was great, Method Man was still nice with the pen and the guest appearances were great too. Whether you like this album or not doesnt matter but its still a hip hop album regardless, Tical O: The Prequel was pop rap so learn to differentiate the two. Standout Tracks: CRADLE ROCK, DANGEROUS GROUNDS, TORTURE, RETRO GODFATHER, SPAZZOLA, PARTY CRASHER, STEP BY STEP, PLAY IV KEEPS(my favorite), ELEMENTS, KILLIN FIELDS, BIG DOGS, BREAK UPS 2 MAKE UPS and JUDGEMENT DAY.

A Mini Masterpiece.......2006-08-30

This album is one of my Top 10 All-Time favorite hip hop albums. Sweet Love and Perfect World are the 2 best tracks on this release.

Method Man.......2006-03-30

I like this album a lot it has a lot of great songs but there are too many skits. It kind of reminds me of mixtapes with so many tracks you can only get so far and then you get kind of bored with some of the tracks. But Method smokes so much weed he probably was too high to care. But that does not matter because they are great songs on here and I will let you decide what those are. I recommend this to all rap fans great choice to add to your collection.

A good sophmore effort.......2006-01-25

The problem with so many tracks is that you can lose memntum and or originality and then adding so many guest stars (Left Eye, Mobb Deep, Streetlife, Capponada, Chris Rock, Ed Lover, Raekwon, Redman...just to name a very few) you can risk losing limelight. The greatest thing about this CD is that, while there is some filler, Meth never loses his footing on the floor. He is the star of this album and every guest just compliments Meth's ability to comand the album. In fact, my favorite song "step by step" doesn't even have a guest rapper. So if your a fan of the Wu-Man they call Method Man AKA Jonny Blaze AKA The Iron Lung AKA...no I'm just kiddin'...anyway, if your a fan of the man they call Meth then pick this up because whatever Meth puts his name on you know is gonna be hot!

One gets the sense that it was a battle between Mista Mef and Def Jam for the soul of this album and that the label won. A newly Def Jam-affiliated Puff Daddy produces and comperes the Missy-accented "Say What," Raekwon injects some old-school Wu flavor into "The Turn," and Busta Rhymes straight kills it with a full-throttle assault on "What's Happenin'." Even longtime Wu-Tang sidekick, Streetlife, adds some nice touches to tracks like "The Prequel." At least Meth's kept his friends close during this transitional period. --Rebecca Levine

Every great MC is entitled to one slip up but the problem with The Prequel is that its so bad that Ugod's album(which sucked) that came out in the same year(Ugodzilla) seems more inviting after hearing this. The problem is not just the bad production but Method Man's rhymes were lazy beyond belief. He not only drop some laughables on here but also his punchlines and phrases were extremely dated. Examples: /I tell it like it T I is(Come on Meth, people stopped saying that since SWV was a still a group). /These n***** wanna know how I come ask your dame/(Too Short's been saying that since Shorty The Pimp). /you need to put your walking shoes and step your game up/ and if you aint feeling my style then you can hang up/(WHAT?). Should I go on? It makes no sense for one of the nicest lyricists in the game to spit candy bars like that. The Good: The only decent tracks are The Motto,The Turn featuring Raekwon and Ridin For Outro featuring Black Ice. The Bad:The track The Prequel was a weak way to kick off the album as Meth spits some unenthusiastic bars on the track. Busta Rhymes and Method Man deliver the most dissapointing collabo joints of all time, What's Happenin'(sick beat, mediocre rhymes). I was excited to hear they had a joint together but when I heard it I wasnt impressed. Busta took too long to connect his rhymes and Meth busts some Puffy-style clunkers on here/ wack n***** get pimplapped gimme some powder/click clack running you trap I wont allow it/(SIGH). AfterParty featuring Ghostface, is bland as hell even with the decent beat and how many people are going to bite Snoop Dogg's rhymes from the past? Act Right would clear any dance floor(even though most brain dead ones LOL). The Show is another joke as Meth drops some retarded punchlines like this /Oh you aint crushin sista/ I cant do nothing with ya/ My money celibate honey and we aint f***** with ya/(!!???!!!???). How pointless is Say What? What purpose did Missy serve on the hook and why is Puff Giddy on this song? The Ugly: We Some Dogs featuring Redman and Snoop Dogg could have easily been the worst song on the album until you hear...... Tease featuring Chinky! The worst rap song for the ladies next to Sheek Louch's One Name and that is the most awkward beat I've heard in a while. No disrespect to Method Man and Ludacris but the track Rodeo is gay. The hook is too fruity for comfort. Baby Come On is another timewaster thats relegates the ever so underrated Kardinal Offishall to a lousy hook and Meth keeps dropping this silly lines again. Example: /heard she could suck a ball through a plastic straw/(Uh huh, okay, alright). More diposables: Never Hold Back, Who You Rollin Wit and Crooked Letter I. Bottom Line: Method Man soiled his own reputation with The Prequel. Lazy rhymes, wack beats, wasted guest efforts just a garbage album period. Method Man will always be a sick MC to me but albums like this will remain a distant memory.

A pretty poor album........2006-05-02

The phrase 'coulda been better' comes to mind... Some nice songs on it, and Method Man is a great MC but this isn't his best work, and a lot of the beats are annoying and make the album hard to listen to. Method Man isnt BAD on this album, its just he can do better, and there's too many guest features on it. Does have some nice tracks, but you're better off just downloading the better songs of iTunes if you're a Method Man fan.

I'd recommend the original Tical album as a better display of Method Man's skills, or Ghostface's 'The Pretty Toney Album' as a better Def Jam/Wu-Tang release released around the same time as this album.

Killer Album!.......2006-01-20

Method kicks it into high gear here with one kick @$$ album. There are some great guest appearances by the likes of Redman and Snoop and Luda and Missy and Streetlife and Busta and Ghostface...just awsome album...The best tracks by far are 'Say What' with Missy and P. Diddy and What's Happenin' with Busta Rhymes...Tease is funny and all and all the entire CD sports great rhymes from the Wu Master...Rodeo is fun where we have two rap masters (Meth & Luda) spitting back and forth trading the spotlight. Meth fans will not be dissapointed!

Wu Brother #1 I dunno by now thou.......2006-01-17

Mef's my favorite emcee in the Wu Tang but to see mef fall this hard is hard to hear. there is allot of promise thou on the disc as a dynamic opus to show he's capadible of rhyming over different beats than just rza's, i totally understand that. but at the same time that's the same audience who will turn there back when they don't like what your doing. the tracks are either hit or miss. for the most they hit rather than miss the only one which primary miss is because they just don't work for example "Rodeo"(feat Ludacris) i like how mef outshined luda on the last verse but this just didn't work thou and "Tease"(feat Chinky) because it just didn't sound like a mef track even the risky "Say What"(feat Missy Elliot) was a stretch but mef did his thing for the rest of the cd hits hard "The Turn" feat Raekwon and The Motto are just a few gems dropped on here. overall thei'll give the disc 3.5 pretty dope but needed more rza feel thou. favorite tracks:

Method Man - Tical 0: The Prequel.......2005-12-30

Yes it was this long, 6 YEARS!!! 1998-2004 we had to wait that long for another Meth album! But he didnt hide, he was spittin fire on other albums with other emcees. Now let me explain my thoughts.

Lyric wise, Hmm........ it makes you think a bit. Did Method Man fall off, or is he just trying different sounds? Well I definately think he did not fall off. He spits straight fire. Does he spit bubblegum stuff, not neccessarily but a bit with tracks like "Say What", "Tease", "Baby Come On", those are the only ones I usually skip but they are still decent tracks. Im gradin Meth on the other tracks, all classics! Dope lyrics! On all! Hands down. "The Motto" awesome lyrics. "The Turn" has great lyrics by Meth and Raekwon!!!

Production wise, this is where people are like what the f is wrong with Meth spitting on these beats. Well I feel every single one of you. Im a true Wu fan so dont think I like bubblegum radio rap. I love the grimey sound, but Method Man we couldnt choose what beats he spits on. But for the type of album that this one is the production is great. The best beat on the album is "The Turn" because RZA produced it and it just has that true sound. Recognize this, if you have already heard "Tical" and "Tical 2000" and loved the grimey sound, take note that you wont find a grimey sound in this album. But DO recognize that you will find dope rhymes and good beats beside the grimey stuff!!!
