Decent Mixtape - 3.5 stars.......2004-11-11

This was put together during the time of the tour Jay-Z & The Roc went on w/ DMX, Ja Rule, Method Man & redman. It starts off strong and ends strong but is rather crappy in the middle. Features a wide range of well known rappers from the east and south and a few female rappers as well as 4 R&B songs (which I'm not a fan of). it definitely has it's highpoints & low points but there are some real good songs on here and if you likereal hip-hop but some R&B as well, you might wanna check it out.

DJ Clue - Backstage: Hard Knock Life Soundtrack (Roc-a-Fella, 2000)

On this album, listen to Cam'Ron and Julez Santana's "Hate Music". That song is wack and its title is the best description of that song and the whole album.

There ARE some good songs on here they're all ruined by DJ Clue's tired catch phrases like "New Ish!", "Exclusive!", and so on. As a result, it's hard to get into otherwise dope cuts like Prodigy's Alchemist-produced "Keep It Thoro" and OutKast, Killer Mike and Slimm Calhoun's "Funkenella". The same story goes for Memphis Bleek's "My Mind Right" where Bleek disses Nas: "'Your life's written'/Who are you supposed to be?/Play your position" (by the way, who is Bleek to diss anyone?).

Another great song is ruined by Clue's rants, called "Best of Me (remix)" by Mya featuring Jay-Z. While the beat supplied by Trackmasters is outdated, Jay-Z spits fire: "Saying you got a man/Okay, ma, AND??/That's high school, making me chasing you 'round for months/Have an affair, act like an adult for once." Also, if you're listening to a track where you don't know what the name is or who's performing, don't worry because Clue will tell you (for example, "New Beanie Sigel!" "'In the Club'!!").

I guess it doesn't matter that much because most of the tracks on here are average (especially the Lox track). But it would have been less disappointing if they included the second verse to Jay-Z's unreleased "People's Court". There's really no point to this album anyway because it's a soundtrack to a movie about a concert tour, so my advice is to skip it. -EJR

people who know who DJ Clue is should have this in their possession,'cause this ain't something to miss out on.The c.d just as good as the movie.Tracks like "Keep It Thoro" (Prodigy),is tight especially since he went the whole song without a chorus.Capone&Noreaga put it down on "Don't Want Beef".The Lox's "Who Did You Expect" was one of the (if not the best)tightest songs on the c.d.Beanie Sigel's "In The Club" should've been a big-time radio hit.Just because it's called "In The Club" don't mean it had to stay in the club. "Millionaire" (Hot Boys and Big Tymers) was tight even with the fact that Turk was missing from the song.Fabolous' "Gotta Be Thug" is a tight and reconizable song (track 16 on GHETTO FABOLOUS).Memphis Bleek threw in his own skill a few times on here."My Mind Right" is a anywhere track.It's a track for cars,clubs,parties,house...anywhere you name."Crime Life" with Lil Cease and Ja Rule is somethin' made just for the streets.But don't be surprised if all anybody remembers is the Jiggaman himself.Yeah,I mean Jay-Z.Sure it was a lot of great songs on here,but when it all comes down to it,to some people,all it is,all it was,and all it will be about is Young Hova."People's Court","Best of Me (remix)" and "Road Dawgs" all have Jay on them so if someone you know has this don't be surprised if they push repeat for any of the songs.

DJ Clue without the "DJ".......2001-01-25

I have listened to R&B and hip hop for over 15years and this is possibly the poorest way I have heard the way word "DJ" be used. This album is track after track of mediocre songs with "DJ" Clue shouting useless shout-outs at the beginning of every track. A DJ is supposed to mix, blend tunes and think about how he/she will use the 74mins of music time - this guy clearly has little DJ skills and insists on giving hiself props on EVERY TRACK. This album pales into insignificance compared to say Fun Master Flex who IS a DJ. This album is very very disappointing unless if you like "DJ" Clue's other material. Listen properly to the album before you buy. Having said that, the T-Boz tune is very good, however, like all the other tracks, it is spoiled by Clue's aimless screams at the beginning. There will be people who like this album for the combination of big-star artists in that respect, it is good. But as for DJ Clue - not talented as a DJ and on the whole, quite disappointing.

tight cd.......2000-12-18

this is an awesome cd. it features lots of different people so u don't get bored by one voice. it features some new artists i've never heard of like lady luck and fabulous. i haven't seen the movie but i'm sure themusic has something to do with it. here's what i thought of every track on a 1-5 scale:

1. intro skit- 2 out of 5- pretty dumb intro

2. best of me part 2- 5 stars- this song has an awesome beat and jigga sounds good with mya

3. in the club- 5 out of 5- 2nd best son gon cd. timbaland provides tight beat. beanie sigel raps off da hook

4. keep it thoro- 5 out of 5- insightful rappin by prodigy with catchy beat

5. my mind right- 4 out of 5- bleek's improved lyrically but he needs a beat

6. who did u expect- 3 out of 5- swizz provides a hot tune though only styles spits venom

7. wanna take me back- 5 out of 5- i don't like rnb all that much tho t-boz has a good voice and sounds better without left-eye and chili

8. just leave your love- 2 out of 5- christion tries to do more than he can handle vocally

9. darlin-4 ou tof 5- anotha solid rnb track this time by rell

10. millionaire-5 out of 5- mannie fresh picks a dope beat for his whole crew to spit flame over

11. road dawgs- 5 out of 5- how can uscrew up with 3 of the best female rappers amil, eve, and brat. road dawg provides an ill beat

12. funkanella- 2 ou tof 5- beat is too fast for outkast and their proteges to keep up with

13. come and get it- 5 out of 5- best song. redman and luck prove jerz is da best

14. hate music- 5 out of 5- cam'ron once again proves himself with newcomer juelz santana

15. gotta be a thug- 5 out of 5- fabulous i s alyrical genius

Clue brings it once again--a flawless effort to go down in the halls of infamy (like all of Clue's stuf). He is a great producer and he knows hip-hop. This man has talent. Great tunes, rappin, singin, you name it--Clue's got it! And thank-you for an edited/clean version!

CLUE IS EXTREMELY TALENTED, AS ARE ALL THE OTHER ARTISTS ON THE ALBUM. IT'S A GREAT CD. I'LL BE LOOKIN FOR THE PROFESSIONAL II.

I must say this is one CD that has to be heard. It is true Hip-Hop. It seems as if everybody that is hot, is on this album. If you missed the Hard Knock Life tour, you must get this CD. Artist such as, Jay-Z, Big Tymers, Mya, T-Boz, Outkast, and The Lox(just to name a few), are featured on the album. This may be the party CD on the year. Every joint is banging. I must say that DJ Clue has done it again. THAT'S MY WORD "AMEAL"
