5 out of 5 stars A True Blues Guitar Original.......2004-03-02

Junior is a true original who borrows from the past to create a guitar style that is truly his own and it is this originality that shines to the forefront on every song of his first solo release.

5 out of 5 stars Best living blues guitarist.......2004-02-17

The album is amazing. He is a living blues god. If you haven't seen him live you are missing one of the best blues acts around. His newer album "If I Had A Genie" is also a must have. Keep them coming Junior.

5 out of 5 stars Jr Watson is amazing.......2001-10-11

Jr Watson is amazing. I've heard many a folk go on about Hollywood Fats, but Jr is so unpredicable and orginal with a feel that is as real and soulful as music gets. A Bob Dylan of the guitar. Jr Watson is amazing.

5 out of 5 stars Junior, please make another album!.......2000-06-13

This one took about 3 years to record and he's been owrking on number 2 for about 4 years now. I guess he's busy playing with Canned Heat and such, but gee-whiz it would be nice to hear another record.

By the way, this is the best jump-blues recording of the 90's, PERIOD. "Certainly all . . "

4 out of 5 stars Junior Watson-just the best.......2000-04-12

Junior Watson is simply the best jump-swing-westcoast-blues-guitarist of all time..I never heard two solos sounding the same....this cd is not one of his best, because of the poor sound quality...but still, you have to buy it...

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Typical R&B Album.......2007-02-22

Although I like "Never Find Someone Like You", the other tracks on this album sounds very typical and similar to a ton of other R&B ballads. Something just doesn't capture my attention on this album. Most R&B stars have a unique sound/voice that makes you recognize them immediately, but that simply isn't the case for Keith Martin. Although he doesn't have a bad voice, he doesn't sound original enough for me. It's hard to distinguish him from any other R&B singer, or someone that you catch in a kareoke bar surprisingly belting out a smooth slow jam.

5 out of 5 stars he rox.......2004-02-04

I just wanted to say that Keith is my producer and he rox!!! :)

5 out of 5 stars Talent.......2003-06-25

Album Description

East Of Rampart Street, New Orleans, La is where hookers rule the street, dealers make their deals, and where life as we know it gets funkier with each passing day. East Of Rampart Street is where everybody is nobody, everything means nothing and nothing is ever as it seems. East Of Rampart Street is the new recording from Brian Stoltz ("funky" Meters, Neville Brothers, Bob Dylan).

"East Of Rampart Street is a fundamentally funky CD with smart, catchy songs that will last, a groovy disc that will sound good today, tomorrow and ten years from now." H. Andrews Schwartz - Offbeat Magazine, New Orleans, La

"The fastest selling record in the store" - La. Music Factory, New Orleans, La.

On East Of Rampart Street Stoltz explores much of his wide and diverse past, from funky uptown beats to the dark atmospherics of a Daniel Lanois production, the listener gets a panoramic view of life in New Orleans. East Of Rampart Street contains thirteen solid songs penned by Stoltz as well as guest appearances from Papa Funk Art Neville and George Porter Jr. of the Meters, as well as Ivan Neville and a host of New Orleans luminaries.

"You get one hour, one minute and seven seconds and thirteen tracks of mostly thick unadulterated funk! This CD is steeped in, and drips the funk. It's the kind of stuff that can get you a speeding ticket, if you're not careful. Just follow the bounce and have a ball"! Paul Toracinta - Radlist review

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars My Funkometer BLEW UP!.......2006-08-15

I am listening to this CD as I type this review and can attest to the fact that Mr. Stoltz has mega guitar chops,it sounds like he squeezes the neck for every last bit of sound he can get out of it.

SUPERIOR, well written songs and arrangements, deep greasy New Orleans flavor in every bite, Mr. Stoltz is supported by Art and Ivan Neville, The amazing George Porter Jr.,and other stellar New Orleans musicians.

Make no mistake, this is the REAL DEAL, from jugle funk to walking blues in the style of Fats Domino.

RARELY do you hear records this good anymore, a real treasure!

Medicine for the soul, a stellar album, GET IT NOW!

5 out of 5 stars New Orleans' own Jimi Hendrix.......2005-02-08

New Orleans guitarist Brian Stoltz is one of the most talented musicians to come out of this great music town. He has played withe everyone from the Neville Brothers to Bob Dylan to Dr. John. Now this solo CD features him with some of his musicial buddies who happened to be members of great bands. Brian tours with The Funky Meters when not working in the studios. This album showcases not only his New Orleans blood lines, but also has displays of his appreciation for Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Guitar Slim and Muddy Waters.

3 out of 5 stars DECENT EFFORT FROM VETERAN SWAMP GUITARIST.......2006-08-25

Brian Stoltz has been on the scene since the 80's, working as a featured session guitarist and/or touring with the likes of Dr. John, The Neville Brothers, Bob Dylan, Edie Brickell, and The Funky Meters, among others. He has earned a reputation as an exceptionally talented musician, combining the blues with more funky Hendrixian stuff. His singing reminds me of a Bob Dylan impersonater doing mediocre Beatles tunes, even sounding like a less passionate John Hiatt at times. He's a decent songwriter, but as a lyric writer I'm not so sure. One of the cuts on this album is a verbatim rip-off of a Bob Dylan song from his last album, Love & Theft. Or maybe Stoltz wrote it first, I don't know. Anyway, I bought this album after seeing Jazz Fest footage of Stoltz playing with both The Funky Meters and PBS. He blew my mind on guitar, but every time he sang it kinda bothered me. On this album he sings (obviously) and really scales back on the guitar playing. It's not funky and it's not particularly exciting. However, three or four cuts are good enough for me to have hope for the future.
