Editorial Reviews

Tondaleya Black, Spin Promotions
This CD is TIGHT!!! It's D.C. and it's hip-hop. A must for the true hip-hop fan.

Product Description
"I always let my passion and inner fire guide me." Ryot is a descendent of Nat Turner, the leader of the first ever slave insurrection in Southhampton, VA. Ryot also gets his inspiration from growing up in the seedy Edgewood community of DC and listening to all sub-genres of hip-hop. "I think its time DC got recognized for tight hip-hop. We have a different point of view and edge to bring to the music. Rappers in DC have a definite social consciousness, a unique understanding of living in the nation's capital that you're just not going to see or hear anywhere else."

"Laws of Life" is Ryot's current CD that chronicles life in the district with innovative lyrics and unique delivery. The CD carries such chest pounding tracks as "What! What", "Refuse to Do It", "No Room Tonight" and sure fire club successes "Tha Freaka" and "Hell Yeah". Meanwhile, it still provides introspective tracks such as the title track "Laws of Life". The production, done by Tipsy's in house production team "Runaway Slayve Productions" is one of the most diverse production jobs released in some time. "The beats vary from track to track. It's not what you hear on every other CD. It's as unique as D.C.'s geographic location, with a fusion of northern grittiness and southern funkiness. It's raw, but also filled with lyrics that tell stories, make you laugh and make you think. Each track has its own existence. I mean none of them sounds like the other. This CD is an experience!"

5 out of 5 stars The entire CD.......2002-02-08

Hey I think that Ryot has made a great breakthrough with this one. He has a lot of talent for a young Black brother and I hope to here more from him in the future. Keep up the good work Ryot and much much success in your career. Your homey Byron Keith Colbert. Many blessings.

5 out of 5 stars Robert Ross Esq - R&R Entertainment L.L.C........2001-05-06

The production on this album is amazing. The level of this particular album has everyone in the D.C. area rockin, especially to the number 4 track "The Freaka". As a entertainment atty in the Washington D.C. area it's real pleasing and gratifying to see a legitamate rapper doing his thing.

5 out of 5 stars THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2001-02-09

I loved every minute of it. It had me bobbin' my head and shakin'...on the dance floor, when I heard it at the club. The Freaka, is the straight out bomb and I know that it is going to blow up. Recently, heard "Washington Tymz", and I could really relate, being from D.C. and all. I like when I see young "African American Artist" doin' there thang. Ryot keep it up.

5 out of 5 stars Lovin' It.......2001-02-09

I enjoyed the CD. It had my head bobbin' to every beat, especially "The Freaka". and "Collect Call". I really loved those two. Born and raised in D.C. and I am glad to see artist from the area blowin' up. Ryot, continue to make records and I will continue to buy. I hope WKYS continues to promote "Ryot".

5 out of 5 stars I am proud of you brother!.......2001-02-07

This CD is "off the meatrack". It will definetly have you bouncing your heads while riding in your vehicles and dancing in the clubs. Ryot is a very productive artist who definetly has made his mark with this CD. I have known Ryot for 23 years and I have heard this CD several times. It is a definite hit. I am not just saying this because he is my big brother. Hah! Hah! Smile "Tub" I Love you and keep up the good work brother.
