Phat collection of alternative hip-hop.......2001-04-06

This two-CD set gives you a great overview of some of the slammin alternative hip-hop that's out there, especially the lesser-known artists.

Disc one is more up-tempo and accessible than disc two, but both are good. Disc one contains tracks by more popular groups such as A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and Cypress Hill (and the songs these groups contribute are slammin). I especially like "Sound of Da Police" by Funkmaster Flex, with its mix of hip-hop and dancehall reggae sounds. Disc two contains more obscure, more mellow tracks. I'd highly recommend this set for all alternative hip-hop lovers and also for those who want to get a feel for the genre.
