To answer the question below..........2007-04-24
To answer the question below, the two songs played during the helicopter paranoia scene are George Harrison's What Is Life, and Harry Nilsson's Jump Into the Fire. Both excellent songs, both excluded from the soundtrack.
Where are are all of the songs?.......2007-04-08
Boy, it's sad that they can't use all of the music from the movie.
I'm trying to determine what the song that is playing when Henry and Karen are making the deliveries (guns, coke...) henry tells his brother to keep stirring the sauce.
What is the song playing in the background?????
Goodfellas: Music From The Motion Picture.......2007-02-17
Great Movie but CD is just OK & pales in comparison to
A Bronx Tale Sound Track.
sound track.......2007-01-09
this is the best compilation of songs that i have purchased. there isn't a bad song on the whole dvd.
Great soundtrack, but too few songs on it.............2006-10-28
I have seen this movie numerous times and I like it very much. I have to admit, of course, that it is a good movie in spite of the content and violent happenings. For the soundtrack, this is a great soundtrack, but there are a number of songs that are missing from it. Actually, about a quarter to a half of the songs that are on the soundtrack CD are ones from the 50s (not very likeable decade of music for me). There are some titles that I know, such as Aretha Franklin's "Baby, I Love You", the second half of Layla, which is the piano exit, and Bobby Darin's "Beyond the Sea". The one song that I don't like was the one playing in the scene where Henry and Karen walked quite a ways in the restaurant to their seat. I don't like that song, so I can't complain about it not being on this CD. I am wondering, though, what is the name of the song that is playing in the movie during the scene where Henry and Tommy are busting out the Bamboo Lounge with sterno. I like that song and would like to know its title and the group who sang it. I hope this soundtrack CD gets reissued as a deluxe version soon. Anyone who knows that song's title and the group that sang it (the song played during the scene of the busting out of the Bamboo Lounge), you can get in touch with me at [...]. Thanks!

Even as the Cash Money clique continues to twist its formula just enough to keep its singles intriguing, Master P's No Limit posse seems unable to move off the cheesy-production-and-gangsta-cliché tip. Goodfellas' most notable track, the single "Wobble Wobble," praises the female posterior with none of the charm of Juvenile's "Back That Azz Up," which may still be in heavy rotation on the Box when the 504 Boyz's next lame album appears. As for the rest of this one, the group's gruff but monotonous rhyming on the likes of "If You Real, Keep It Real," "Roll, Roll," and "Beefing" makes the thug life sound more boring than finishing school and getting a good job somewhere off the streets. --Rickey Wright

Please deliver me!.......2006-08-19
Good voices and good musicians, but absolute tripe. Unbridled vulgarity, racism, obscenity, and juvenile posturing. If this piece of trash has any redeeming social value, it escapes me. Is it a reflection of the society that produced it? Only if we are ignorant animals without a speck of morality. Shameful.
This cd is good but not great.......2006-07-12
Ok I am from Louisiana and I am going to say that real recognize real and this cd is tight but overrated and if it wasn't for Mr. Magic then this cd that I have now would of been in the trash can. There are about 4 songs that are good on this entire cd. It is good but not great so it doesn't deserve 4 stars. Somebody need to go to college and take Hip Hop 101 because it is obvious that yall are the same people who thinks Dike Jones is tight.

Joey DeFrancesco is a Philadelphia organist who has previously worked in ensembles led by Miles Davis and guitarist John McLaughlin. On Goodfellas Francesco and his band mates play wonderful songs derived from their Italian upbringing. Performing instrumental versions of tunes associated with Frank Sinatra, Vic Damone, and even classic Mob flicks like The Godfather, DeFrancesco shows a bit of humor, excellent musical taste, and an innate capacity to swing. Accompanied by gifted guitarist Frank Vignola and drummer Joe Ascione, DeFrancesco grooves outrageously through tunes like "Fly Me to the Moon," "Young at Heart," and even "Volare." With DeFrancesco wailing on the Hammond B3, Vignola churning out hot licks on his electric guitar, and Ascione kicking it underneath, this collection is chock full of authentically spicy jazz. --Mitch Myers
Customer Reviews:
No more Italian tunes, please!.......2006-04-13
A natural move for Joey DeFrancesco when leaving Columbia Records with four albums under his belt, and with a few great albums on Muse Records, BigMo Records and High Note, was signing up with a major jazz label like Concord Records, deeply rooted in the artistic freedom and expression trademarked by the late founder Carl Jefferson. Recorded in 1999, "Godfellas" is a promising all trio album visiting DeFrancesco's Italian roots with fellow Italian rooted Frank Vignola on guitar and Joe Ascione on drums. Unfortunately the track listing tells that we're served some of the most worn-out cheesy Italian tunes ever made and recorded - Volare, O Solo Mio, Malafemmena - but even this great trio interpretations can't justify the fact that these tunes are, bottom line, horrible. But don't worry, there are nine more great tunes to listen to. From up tempo version of "On Fly Me To The Moon" to a surprisingly sensitive versions of the ballads "All The Way" and "Young At Heart", all the other tunes fits well into the concept for this trio - deeply rooted in the soul organ / Jimmy Smith tradition. In other words, no great surprises for DeFrancesco afficiados, just a throughout very good album from a young B3 master. But remember to activate the Programming function (skip tunes) on your CD player....
Spicy is the best word for it........2001-12-28
Joey Defrancesco and his two 'Goodfellas' present a spicy blend of Italian and jazz influences - sometimes they're nostalgic, sometimes they are the hottest, hardest-driving jazz combo that you can imagine. An extremely cohesive group. Joey doesn't sing on this outing, he 'limits' himself to playing the organ. He can't be beaten on the B3 - on several of the tracks he sets off a fireworks that probably no other jazz-organist might be able to produce. The group have chosen standards, none of which turns out to be worn-out because each of the trio is an outstanding muscian and improviser. The overall production and the sound-quality are superb - it's a Concord album. The CD sleeve shows the three musicians feasting together, and inside the sleeve there's plenty of Italian proverbs that tell you to enjoy the good things in life - food, music, love, la Bella Italia and Italian -American jazz.
An Album You Can't Refuse.......2000-11-15
The Goodfellas are Joey DeFrancesco on organ, Frank Vignola on guitar, and Joe Ascione on drums. They have put together here a collection of tunes worthy of Sinatra's collection. The album opens with a spirited reading of the Godfather classic, "Speak Softly Love," that effectively sets the tone for the entire disc. "Fly Me To The Moon," starting off lightly, transitions smoothly into as hard-swinging a tune as you'll find anywhere. The title track, an original blues, would make Gene Harris shout in approval. And the ability to maintain the feel of this record through a Monk staple is indeed "Evidence" of the caliber of the players involved. There is no standout here; this is a cohesive group, playing Italian-American jazz as flavorful as the food of the same ethnicity. This date was the Goodfellas' first time playing together. I hope there's a second.
Rock Solid!.......2000-02-07
This CD is like a breath of fresh air and a real surprise since I've never heard of DeFrancesco (even tho' he's been around a while). I was worried all the talk of Italian influences in the editorial and customer reviews might mean this was novelty driven - but don't worry, this is rock solid B-3 organ jazz with more in common with Jimmy Smith or McGriff than Sinatra or Damone. And the traditional Italian favorites sound brand new in DeFrancescos's able hands.
Mr. DeFrancesco swings like nobody's business!.......1999-11-16
It is so great to hear an artist - and especially such a young one who swings so hard and who obviously has studied the history of our great American art form. Joey plays with such heart and conviction! His band here is superb- great chops, heart, time and soul. Bravo guys! Andrea Baker, Los Angeles based jazz singer
