Captures the Raucous Rawness.......2006-03-07

The most famous Hound Dog Taylor quote was: "When I die, they'll say: 'He couldn't play sh*t, but he sure made it sound good.'" This is a man who understands his appeal. Taylor played a beat-up guitar, and he cranked on the thing, playing distorted, screeching notes. But god, it DID sound good. And as the quote implies, he had the personality to go with the raucous, raw music that he played. Which is why this album is so good. It's live, so you can hear the sound imperfections, the screaming crowd, and Taylor's off-kilter banter and sense of humor. And that's probably the perfect way to listen to Taylor. To put it all another way: He plays a version of "She'll Be Coming 'round the Mountain" that makes you want to get up and dance.

Great blues album.......2005-09-14

This album is a masterpiece. The highlights of this album are "The Sun is Shining" and "Freddie's Blues" . The way he uses feedback in "Freddie's Blues" is truley amazing.It's like Hound Dogs Ghost. I bought this ablum and it was well worth the money. This album is a frequent in my CD player. Any blues fan will like this Album

Hard Edged Electric Blues.......2005-03-31

This is a great live blues album. It's just a raw slide guitar masterpiece. The songs are varied. The audience is "into" the performances. There really ought to be more albums like this -- but this ranks right up there with the likes of the Stone's "Get Your Ya Yas Out" or live Johnny Winter. I only gave it four stars, but it is a great addition to any music collection. You can definitely party to this music.

Hard-rock blues.......2003-10-27

Okay, I'm not a Hound Dog fan -- not that I have anything against him, it's just that this is the only album I've got by him. Maybe it's because I doubt there's better album by him. This is a clear favorite for when I want some loud, electric blues. It's a great live recording that captures both the energy of the performance and gives a generally clean, balanced sound. The opener "Give Me Back My Wig" and his take on "Dust My Broom" are great work. The only thing that holds it back from a five-star is a few muddy tracks and a few uneven songs. Even with all that, if you're into electric blues, you should definitely have this album, along with Muddy Waters "Hard Again".

Viper the one who said that this album is wack needs to stop hatin he's just mad because bow wow's accomplished more than he ever will he said the same thing about Doggy Bag. He needs to stop hatin on Bow wow because the 11 tracks that he made was hot and it's a really good start for a 13 year old. If he got so much mouth why dont he come out with a C.D. and let us critic it. I bet he wont like what we have to say about it.

This CD is a classic Bow Wow CD. This is very 1st CD before he became Bow Wow. There's a lot of hot tracks on this album like "Playboy", "Bounce With Me" and "Bow Wow (That's My Name)". Yo but there's a lot of guest appearance like Snoop Dogg, R.O.C., Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat, Xscape and Jagged Edge. Lil' Bow Wow was 12 years old when he came out with this CD. This is probably the best out of all his other albums he came out with.

Bow Wow sucks, he's horrible and always will be. He has bubblegum watered down lyrics, stupid content, juvenile topics, and absolutely no talent what so ever. If your 10 or over and you listen to this, I pitty you. Go get some Eminem, G-Unit, Dipset, Snoop Dogg ect. Not this watered down crud, there is so much better rap out there than this crap.

Bow...Wow is trying to be something he's not.His blend of r/b/rap dont mix and he just cant draw the line between nerd and thug.Its like drawing an line between cats and dogs,they dont mix.Or apples and oranges they dont mix either.And Bow -Wow and rap definetly dont mix either!

One Great and Original Album.......2005-07-15

I have never ever heard this type of music before. It is whiskey influenced, high octane, honky-tonk, psychobilly music with progressive liberal themes and lyrics. Some of the best guitar hooks I have ever heard and some of my favorite vocals ever. "Out There" ranks for me, one of the ten greatest songs ever, and it is just one of many great songs. If you are into Mike Ness and the Old 97s, I think you will like this. Sad that they are no longer together, but they do have a great website.

I don't think I have ever been more pleasently suprised with the purchase of an album. I had never heard of this band, did not know what sound they had or anything. But I liked the album cover and gave it a shot. Well, it is now one of my favorite albums of all-time. Honky Tonk Rock'n'Roll to the max, but with a heart. The great tunes start with track #1 (The Gun Song) and continue through #12 (Somewhere Near Heaven). I love the intelligent lyrics and the raw emotion. It seems that this style of music is gaining a lot of attention today with bands like Drive By Truckers, but The Hangdogs should be the one people are listening to. Great Stuff!

Another great album by this group from NYC. I especially loved "Other peoples houses", sung by drummer Kevin Baier. This song provides some comic relief on a blues/rock album. I'm no music expert, but this is a great cd.

Beware of this CD.......2001-07-20

There are a lot of bands right now mixing country with garage. The Hangdogs are not one of the best. Weak songs sung by a vocalist who sounds likes dozens of other singers. There is just not much new going on here--nothing to distinguish this band from others in the same genre.

lets get one thing straight. lil' bow wow doesnt even write his own lyrics, JD does. its like his homework, take the lyrics and memorize them and bring it back to the recording studio. so basically, i can be a music artist. if you want good hip-hop, listen to common, the roots, talib kweli & hi-tek, mos def,etc.
those are the artists that will always give their absolute best performance on the mic.

Lil' Bow Wow's CD is a good buy. His Cd appeal to the younger Hip Hop culture. Lil'Bow Wow shows his true talent in his work. He is one of the hardest working teenagers to me. To sum it up Lil' Bow Wow is a well derserved 5 stars and plus.
