3 out of 5 stars Andrew Cyrille?.......2007-05-04

About the missing "jazzy" song--I remember watching this movie and hearing Andrew Cyrille and Jimmie Lyons playing "Nuba One." I thought it was pretty surprising, considering the song is pretty far out for a Hollywood movie. The song is available on the "Nuba" album (first track), and you should be able to find a used copy here on Amazon. Too bad they didn't include it on the soundtrack--I thought it was a great part of the film and really set the tone. I hope this helps you in some way!

5 out of 5 stars What's That Song?.......2007-04-17

The song that he plays in the car, it sounds like it's a jazz song. Its not on the OG soundtrack and it's neither on the Japanese soundtrack. (I own both).

Ghost Dog plays it in the car while it's raining, and no not the Rap song in the beginning of the movie or Reggae song I have those, I need the jazzy instrumental song, that's what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance.

5 out of 5 stars A must for every ghost-faced killa.......2006-01-19

This version of the soundtrack a vastly superior to the US version...the dope beats throughout seem to divide into two seperate songs. The two tracks with participation by the rest of the Wu Tang Clan are especially fine.

5 out of 5 stars The missing song.......2006-01-17

one song that this record doesnt include is the one that plays after ghost dog steals the first car. The song is "from then till now" by Killah Priest. just for those of you who like it too, it is included in "Heavy Mental" cd

4 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack.......2005-08-20

Very good soundtrack, would be 5 stars, but it doesn't have all the songs from the movie, I have both the soundtrack and the score, but neither have the song I am looking for, I was looking for a track that was played after Ghost Dog stole the Lexus, but neither have it, still, GREAT soundtrack!

Indie film director Jim Jarmusch always works an unexpected angle, whether it's offbeat humor, a nonlinear narrative, or specific and idiosyncratic characterization. For his latest film--the story of a ghetto hit man who lives by the codes of the Hagakure, an 18th-century Japanese warrior text--Jarmusch enlisted RZA, a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan. Instead of imagistic tone poems that serve to reinforce a certain mood, à la Neil Young on Dead Man, RZA offers active gunplay that propels the film's narrative. The 11 tracks serve as an RZA-producer showcase, standing as independent pieces, regardless of the movie itself. Tracks vary from the subdued "4 Sho Sho," which interpolates Forest Whitaker's interior monologue with RZA's street visions, to the stuttering rhythms of Kool G. Rap's "Cakes." Tekitha's '70s disco groove for "Walkin' Through the Darkness" offers unexpected sensuality, while "The Man" by Masta Killah sets things back on the gangsta tip. --Rob O'Connor

5 out of 5 stars The movie is great the soundtrack is even better.......2007-07-09

What could be more appropriate for a movie about the super-warriors of the Far East than a soundtrack put together by Wu-Tang Clan founder/member RZA? The GHOST DOG soundtrack is another gem from the Shaolin genius. Here he produces, writes, performs, and collaborates with other Wu members to lend the film its diverse musical landscape.

"Strange Eyes" rocks steady with a blues-guitar-and-organ loop, while Sunz of Man, 12 O'Clock, and Blue Raspberry hold down the rhymes. "Stay with Me," a soulful expression of urban loneliness, pairs 12 O' Clock with Melodie. One of the hottest tracks on the soundtrack is "Cakes," featuring Kool G Rap and RZA on the mic.

Other tracks worth checking out include RZA's collaborations with Black Knights ("Zip Code"), Masta Killa & Superb ("The Man"), and Tekitha ("Walkin' Thru the Darkness," where RZA takes you on a '70s-soundtrack trip). The GHOST DOG soundtrack is a must for loyal Wu-heads, and "Fast Shadow" even reveals a special Wu-Tang Clan surprise.

4 out of 5 stars Best song from the movie is missing but still a good listen.......2005-12-16

I was sadly disappointed to find that the one song that really caught my ear was not included on the sound track and although I was extremely disappointed I found that I really enjoyed the CD despite the fact that I'm not much of a fan of rap/hip hop/gangsta.
If you're looking for the sole reggae song that was played in the movie then you want find it here. The song you are looking for is Armagideon Time by Willie Williams, also covered by the Clash.

1 out of 5 stars This is NOT the original soundtrack !!!.......2004-03-26

To make it short :

The original is :

"Ghost Dog : The Way of The Samouraï" (Bmg, 2000), Japanese Version (with instrumentals and so on...)

AND NOT : "Ghost Dog : The Way of The Samouraï - The Album" that everybody is talking about...

5 out of 5 stars CLASSIC!!!.......2004-03-16

The movie is great, but the soundtrack is better. If you're looking for the score to the film you've got the wrong album, all of that stuffs on the Japanese import. If you're looking for one of the best hip hop albums no one ever heard, buy this now. Anyone who hates on this album is not a hip hop fan. This album crunches!!!

1 out of 5 stars song in car.......2003-12-02

When the movie starts Ghost Dog rips a car and plays a burned cd in the mega Kenwood cd player while driving to his job. The killer song you hear during this ride is called 'Killah Priest - From Then Till Now'. It's NOT on this album, nor is any other track you hear in the movie. The cd is just a commercial rip off, not worth buying nor downloading at all. The tracks on this album have absolutely nothing to do with the movie :(
