Editorial Reviews
San Diego Journal Register, January 5, 2000
Annex Records may be pretentious and excessive, but they also might be able to back up their bold statements. The artists featured on this disc attack you with a variety of different styles and sounds. If you like hip-hop, check out producer Page 7. If you're looking for some quality pop rock, try Utris. If you're interested in lying back and listening to some fusion-inspired jams, try the 10 minute opus that closes the compilation from Standard Operating Procedure. Overall, it's fair to say Annex Records has done something of note. It may take more than one interesting disc to back up their claims as the saviors of modern music, but they've made an admirable start. Check it out.

Movement I from Standard Operating Procedure makes this album worth its price by itself. A 10 minute jam that features intricate layers of sound. Each listen reveals something new; a distorted flute, a banging piano, an electric guitar. They fused the tones and timbres of these different instruments into an original and compelling sound. A truly beautiful piece of music. The first four tracks also set an interesting standard. Two from hip-hop producer Page 7 and two from burgeoning underground rock sensation Utris. We're waiting for the SOP album. Take a listen.
