Early hints seemed to suggest that Reality Check could be a turning point for Juvenile. Fueled by the destruction of his native New Orleans, Juve seemed ready to let the world feel his wrath. Instead, Reality Check hardly breaks much new ground; even "Get Ya Hustle On," with its stark video filmed in the ravaged 5th Ward, is little more than another "cook crack" anthem even if he takes time to lash out at FEMA. It's not like Reality Check will disappoint old fans--the cocky swagger and brazen sexuality is still in full effect, especially on stripper pole anthems like "Rodeo," and "Loose Booty" or any of the electro-groovy tunes such as "Why Not" or the explosive "Pop U." Still, compared to former Hot Boy partner Lil Wayne, whose recent Tha Carter II found Weezy pushing to a new level of artistry, Juve seems content to coast. --Oliver Wang
Album Description
Featuring guest artists Ludacris, Trey Songz, Bun B, 8Ball, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Brian McKnight and others, Reality Check is Juvenile's most well-rounded album to date. As for the album tile, Juvenile explains, "That's where I'm at right now in my life. I feel like everybody needs a reality check. I have em' all the time. Nobody's perfect." Then, smiling wide enough to show all his diamond-encrusted teeth, he finishes: "But I feel like I got the perfect album."

One of the best Juvenile Albums.......2007-01-10
Get ya hustle on, get ya hustle on! This is the Juvenile album I liked the best out of all of them.
Sloppy.......2006-08-09
The songs on this c.d. are just plain wack. I loved the old Juvenile so i thought i may as well go ahead and buy this album. But I was wrong to do that. Juvenile's last album was hot and this album was nowhere near that. No creativity and the hooks sucked. Production was also awful. Sorry Juve but this album was not your best. Could have done a lot better.
Good album from Juve!.......2006-07-17
Pretty good album. Only a few songs I didn't like but the rest were hot. Another great effort from Juve!

Great modern fusion.......2004-05-25
This is a strong effort by the californian aliens of fusion. It is one the best records of the 90's. The compositions are sophisticated but the solos are still soulful and bluesy (especially those by Scott Henderson). I'm myself a bass player for about 12 years and I think Gary Willis is one the most interesting modern bass players. His solos are very impressive. The man has so many good ideas and his groove is great. The track "Nite Club" (written by Gary Willis) alone make this album a must buy. "Foreign Affairs" (written by Scott Kinsey, a wonderful keyboard player) is also a great fusion tune even if it's very Weather Reportish (but how to avoid this influence ?) .
Fusion music is "cosa nostra".......2003-07-04
This band is stellar period. This album is stellar period. There's an amazing fusion tune "Foreign affairs" that alone is worth the price. The fantastic musicianship of this combo is quite easy to understand from the exact beginning. The short Stella by starlight rendition is behind words, the harmonization conventional but courageous, consistent but free, and moreover short. In a couple of minutes there is a true story, it's complete. It's a jewel. You don't have to blow a hundred choruses to explain a tune, to say the thing the tune wants you to say. Bird was the epitome of this approach. A short solo, but beyond words, technical challenging, lyrical unreachable and complete in itself. A couple of choruses maximum, and if you are a master player that's it. I don't like the Coltrane approach to endless improvisation. It's really boring in my opinion !!! Talkin' about this album the rest of the music is heavy fusion played at incredible level. I love the songs, I love the album, I love a lot of solos from all the guys. I don't like Scott Henderson's solo work when he tries to play too bluesy on difficult chord changes. I am a Jazz guitarist myself; I would prefer a more tonal approach, less pentatonic and guitaristic and more musical, more oriented to chord meanings. But that's oly my taste of course. He is an amazing player obviously, a scientist, he could do whatever he wants, it is simply his choice to play like that, and there's nothing wrong with it. I prefer more straight ahead solos... that's all. In the end this is a great album, probably their best. A great band. In my opinion best band name for a modern futuristic band, strongly rooted in blues, jazz, fusion tradition but with a musical guru approach. Fantastic. Fusion super heroes !!!!
COOL.......1999-06-12

Not to be missed!.......2004-02-28
What a nice surprise! I will never regret that I bought this CD. "Strive to be Happy", "Upward Bound Experience" and "My Deep & Magical Ambient" with cool Spanish-guitar sounds are by far the best songs, "Reality Check" is extraordinary as well. I think this CD is perfect to be played having some martinis or even relaxing at home a Sunday morning. The singer has a beautiful voice. You should get this CD!
How Would You Like Your Music Served?.......2003-09-05
Hopefully shaken and chilled, because Stigmato Inc's Reality Check is a great jazzy, loungey, housey, latiny CD. The lead singer's voice is a great complement to music and "Strive To Be Happy" is the tune to beat.

Customer Reviews:
One of the best hip-hop compilations........2006-10-28
DJ Premier is Primo when it comes to comp lp's. This is the best underground rap comp I've heard. They sure are charging a grip for old DJ Premier stuff these days. Limewire Pro has all of it. It's very tempting. However, other sites such as MusicStack have some of these old comps for better prices if you're a collector. DJ Premier has many old school colaborations and comps worth checking out. My favorite projects of his are his colaboration with Group Home on the song 'Suspended In Time' and his work with Showbiz & AG on songs 'You Know Now' and 'Next Level' off the album 'Good Fellas', another overpriced OOP album. His compilation 'Crates' or 'Premo' series are also great. They're full of old school and some new gems you probably haven't heard. 'Crates Vol. 2' is the best I've heard if you can find it. Happy listening.
Great Mix Tape.......2006-01-03
Even though Premier doesn't lace the tracks on here, he definitely shows why he's the greatest DJ in the game. The mixing and scratching are flawless on this and the way it's formatted, you feel your listening to an underground show on the radio. With that said, the lineup is superb too. There's L Da Headtoucha, J-Live, Company Flow just to name a few. All real MC's, not the fake crap like 50 Cent, or I guess at that time Puff Daddy, aka Diddy. Great beats and flows, and great work of blending and mixing, which show's just how talented Premier is. And the one interview where DJ Premier speaks about how there are times where he's down to his last buck or so, and if it's choosing between getting food and getting a 12", he'd get the 12". That show's how much love he has for the game. I didn't quote it exact, but that was the gist of it. Anyways, this is a must have. Now, someone said they hope they get reality check 202, I think it may be out there. All I know is, I hope it's not like his Holiday Massacre cd. That sucked. It had 50 and G-Unit and Bun B. What the f--k? I hope DJ Premier goes back to cd's like this and not the Holliday Massacre, because this cd represents the DJ Premier we all came to love.
premes best mixtape.......2005-10-25
If you are a fan of Premo but you never copped one of his mixtapes then I suggest you start with NY Reality Check. This is hands down his best.30 seconds into the first track and you will be sent to the realm of hip hop.My reviews are my recommenddations.Im trying to get the best hip hop albums into as many hands as I can.The albums I recommend can be played from beginning to end. This one definatley qualifies.Bottom line.Preme gets a great line up of emcees and juggles the beats.WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED.
ThE StReeTS heAT!.......2005-08-10
One of the dopest compilations ever, mixed by the illest producer in hip hop. I highly recommend you cop this. Its with out a doubt one to keep in your car at all times.

A rare artist..........2003-02-13
I saw her live the other night and she's awesome. I liked it so much, I went back the next night to see her again I was that impressed by her. I picked up her cd and liked it. But she is one of those rare artists who blows you away when she's live. If u like her album, seeing her live is no comparison. She brings her emotions into the songs and she's amazing. Her songs are real and honest to herself. She has a range of sounds, ballads to rock. "Song You Wanted" starts off slow and melodic and about 1/2 way through it picks up. "Liar" is also an up-tempo rock song. She is a very talented young lady. She's been compared to Ani DiFranco, Alanis Morrisette and Jill Scott. If you like them, you'll love her. This is her second album and she is ready to start working on her 3rd. I recommend that you geth both.
Good CD all around.......2002-12-25
I originally picked up this CD after hearing a few of her songs and thinking she sounded a little like Fiona Apple - but then I discovered most of her songs are more laid back, and I really like them. This is one of those rare CDs I can put in the player on repeat.

true rock and roll and excellent songs, i put the album in and let it keep spinning incessantly, i just couldn't get enough. radiohead, pj harvey, led zeppelin riffs and drum 'n bass all rolled into one. how come this girl isn't already famous?

Juve The Magnificent!.......2006-04-02
This is a great album from Juve better than Juve The Great. There is a whole bunch of a great beats on here. This deserves to be #1. He shows that he don't need Cash Money to come out with a great hit. My favorites are "Way I Be Leanin'", "Why Not", "Break A Brick Down", "Get Your Hustle On", "Rodeo" and "Pop U".
