DOOMSDAY CLASSICAL MUSIC !.......2005-06-18

Doomsday Classics! The title and concept for this novelty album may be dated, but the music is timeless! "HEAVY" classical music to be played LOUDLY! The arrangements and sound quality on this CD are EXCELLENT! One of my favorite compilation albums of classical music. For the price, don't let this one pass you by.

This is by far one of my favorite cds. I purchased it originally as a joke, but I have come to love it and play it very loudly when I'm in a bad mood. Spectacularly, it always helps cheer me up, or give me encouragement. Plus this is just some quality music, some of which any person who's heard classical music will recognize. :) Unfortunately, I somehow broke my copy, and now must buy a new one...it's such a relief that Amazon still carries it. :)

Wolfie - Jammin' at the Y2K is pure delight. A radio programmers' dream come true. The first cut tells it all - Figaro's Fun sets the pace and it is FUN. It transcends the usual boundaries of Pop, Classics, Easy Listening that a lot of programmers get locked into and could be played by almost any station without offending the musical taste of any serious music listener. I heartily recommend it.

With the exception of the title track, "Beat the Clock," these songs have absolutely nothing thematically to do with the impending millennium, nor is this compilation a particularly good choice if you are looking for music that is going to whip your New Year's party into a dance-floor frenzy. Too many of these tracks are blockbuster dance hits that have saturated mainstream media, from soundtracks to commercials ("Rockafeller Skank," "Busy Child," "Born Slippy"), and when 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 1999, rolls around, you'll most likely want to be listening to something a little more meaningful, or at least a little fresher. If the Y2K bug actually does cause your CD player to glitch out on the eve of the new millennium, do you really want the last song you hear to be the background music for a Gap ad? --Beth Massa

As a DJ, I was happy to find these rare tracks (rare on vinyl at least). I'm not sure what these other people's problem is. Though these tracks have been collaborated together before and played out in the mainstream, they are nearly all classics..

These were great tracks when they came out, but what is the point in bringing a compilation out of 2 year old tracks? None of which are obscure remixes. Totally pointless album, unless you've been in outer mongolia for the last 3 years!

Good, as far as intro compilations go.......1999-10-11

Yes, a terribly obvious collection of songs, and I pretty much program out Fatboy Slim (and the awful title track) when I play this CD. But the pacing and selection of the remaining songs are better than most comps, with Lo-Fidelity, Prodigy, Orb, Chem Bros, Crystal Method and Propellerheads all flowing together nicely. I prefer this to the other compilations with which this overlaps heavily, like MTV's Amp2. Nothing earthshattering, but decent and very danceable.

Electronica's Best Compilation.......1999-08-09

I don't know why Amazon.Com gave this album such a negative review. All the songs kick lots of a**, especially the Propellerheads', the most underrated band in existence. Granted, it may not be the best for parties. It might not have the dance-able beats. But, sh**, who cares? And what's wrong with Gap commercials?

we caught this group live and bought their cd..it is absolutely one of the best cds in zydeco we have. We have 30 or 40 zydeco titles in our collection and this one is the most fun.. A zydeco lovers favorite cd.....paul

Zydeco Music done right!.......2000-03-20

Unlike many of the zydeco records out there today that sound and look like they were put together ina someones garage, this newzydeco record really got our attention. This band pulls out some of the old blues standards and really whips them up zydeco style. The first song, "Nobody else but you" is sure to bring back memories of yesteryear and "zydeco Mardi gras" is definitely one to get your dancing feet moving. Furthermore, the hit song "hole in the wall" is all over the radio these days and is the reason webought the cd. Our other favorites are "They call me lazy", and "These arms of mine"...If you like zydeco like we do, you will absolutely love this cd.

This CD is Definitely a product of Louisiana. It is the best Zydeco Dance CD I've ever heard. My feet stay moving from the first track to the last. I highly recommend this CD to anyone out there wondering why everyone is SO CRAZY FOR ZYDECO!

I just saw DJ Assault live in KY. He brings a great stage presence, and his set was great. I bought his CD (not found on Amazon, it's ghetto tech isle 2) and it was nothing like his set. The CD is filled with basic beats and simple hooks and rhymes. It is nice to see something diff. in electronic music, but it could be better.

Off the Chain for the Y2k is a very fine full set by DJ Assault (except the first three tracks, which are excellent stand-alone "bonus" tracks). I cannot recommend this album too highly to anyone looking for good, fast techno. I offer that recommendation with the following subtext - DJ Assault is RAW. Look at his song titles and listen to the samples. If you are still smiling when you are done, do not hesitate to get this album and put it on repeat. If you find the titles and samples to be the worst sort of misogynist obscenity, you are correct - go buy this album anyway and listen to it until you feel differently.

Released in 2000, right before the emergence of rap's shiny suits and gimmicks galore, Y2K consistently damages eardrums throughout its 20 tracks. Armed with over 10 years of service within New York City's underground scene, the members of Screwball had already carved an infamous reputation, individual projects inevitably led to the four MCs forming Voltron-style and adopting the name Screwball after a deceased friend.
