4 out of 5 stars Sic-Wid-It...But Not Their Greatest Hits.......2005-08-26

This album brings together some of the best of the Bay Area from the early to mid 90's. The unfortunate part is that it falls short of what I would call Sic-Wid-It's Greatest Hits. The fact that they added more than The Click-related artists to this album makes it worth buying because by itself with only Click songs, it wouldn't be worth it. This album would have been better served as a Double Disc release.

1. Sprinkle Me - E-40 - In A Major Way
This is one of E-40's best hits and got major airplay on Bay Area stations KMEL and Wild 94.9. While both seemed to play this track, it was the Bosko 1995 Remix from the LP Single that got most airplay on Wild 94.9 and the version I happen to like best.

2. Hurricane - The Click - Game Related
This cut dropped at the same time frame as Sprinkle Me did and it was widely accepted. When I went cruisin', I would hear people play Spriknle Me 1995 Bosko Remix and then right after, Hurricane would follow, due to both tracks having smooth beats, a nice baseline and tight lyrics.

3. City 2 City - B-Legit - Hemp Museum
I never cared for this track!

4. True Worldwide Playaz - D-Shot - Six Figures
This was probably one of D-Shot's best cuts he ever dropped. D-Shot is the obscure member of The Click and, while underrated, also the least popular, second only to Suga-T who didn't catch much a following like her brother, E-40. This cut features Too $hort and Spice-1, which makes it even tighter.

5. Hustlas an Tendas - Suga-T - Paper Chasin'
I never cared for Suga-T and she never appealed to me.

6. Captain Save A Hoe - E-40 - Mailman
This is the one that got The Click and E-40 mostly, recognition when Captain Save A Hoe was blared on many radio stations in the Bay Area and abroad. It helped propel The Click members to fame and stardom and the rap scene would never be the same again.

7. It's Goin Down - Celly Cel - Killa Kali
This is one of Cel's best tracks I ever heard. It has good thump, good smooth beata nd tight lyrics.

8. Mr. Flamboyant - The Click - Down & Dirty [Jive]
The reason I added Jive int he album name is because most people familiar with this album know this is not the original release from Solar Music Group which is now OOP (Out Of Print). Though it cannot be found on retail you can dig thi up in E-Bay for about $130 if you want it. This version of Mr. Flamboaynt is NOT the SMG version that is OOP. This version is the junky re-worked version from Jive. Avoid this version. Pittsburg CA.

9. Check It Out - B-Legit - Hemp Museum
This is another the Savage's best hits. It has a nice hard-hitting but mellow beat and the throaty lyrical skills that B-Legit is known for.

10. (I'll Be Yo') Huckleberry - D-Shot - Six Figures
I never cared for this track personally.

11. Ghetto Smile - B-Legit - Hemp Museum
This quirky song didn't appeal to me either but B-Legit makes it sound good while he makes a play on Hall & Oates' "Sara Smile" to which this song obviously takes after. Goes to show that Rappers don't just listen to rap. So no more dissin' people for listening to non-rap crap.

12. Scadalous - The Click - Game Related
This song is a play on Zapp and Roger's track 'Computer Love' which incorporates the beat ina remixed form and even the TalkBox vocoder of Roger Troutman. A good cut to have.

13. Things'll Never Change - E-40 - The Hall Of Game
If you think this song has resemblence to 'Changes' by 2Pac, that's because it does. While both songs feature different lyrics for their respective demographic, each expounds the same message - problems in life, poverty, crime, etc. hits us all regardless of color, fame or fortune.

14. Heat 4 Yo Azz - Celly Cel - Heat 4 Yo Azz
This song is what made Celly Cel popular when it dropped. He followed up with It's Going Down, also featured on this album.

15. Way Too Vicious - B-Legit - Trying To Get A Buck
This is B-Legit's best solo cut next to Check It Out, IMO. It was tight when it dropped and it came out about the same time Down & Dirty dropped from Solar Music Group, who was probably responsible for this albuum too as it is mangled and missing a couple tracks from the original pressing. As well, Dank Room was remixed a bit but not too much. BTW, Dank Room is also on the Down & Dirty album but is renamed "Tramp Dogs" and is the exact same song with a diferent name and album. Way Too Vicious is a tight song and a must have for early Sic-Wid-It collectors as this song was not mangled or remixd during the great Jive takeover.

Hope you enjoyed this lengthy review. I would like to have seen "Let's Get Drunk - The Click - Down & Dirty [Original Release] on this album but it was not included fro some odd reasona nd nor was 1 Luv.
