Headz Still Ain't Reddee....{4 Stars}.......2006-09-07
I don't know what to say about this joint. When it dropped back in '99, it was pretty much ignored. Lyrically, the album is on point and features appearances from the entire BCC (Heltah Skeltah, Black Moon, OGC, Smif N' Wessun, The Representativz, Illa Noyz, Rustee Jux, etc..). In my mind, this is vintage BCC because, as a whole, they haven't come this hard ever since this dropped. Despite what you may think, Da Beatminerz don't handle all of the production even though most of the tracks have that dark Beatminerz kind of sound. Da Beatminerz only handle two of the fifteen tracks on the entire album. Baby Paul handles 2 joints while Mike Caren, JT, Shaleek, Don J, N.O.D., Trauma & Jugrunaut, Meophlese & Eeka Mouse, Jah Dan & B. Gord, Rob, Mega Hurtz, and BD 'N Boogie all contribute one track each. Like I said though, the sound is still that dark, grimy, bass heavy BCC sound. Personally, I love it because the production is great and all my favorites from the crew (Buckshot, Heltah Skeltah, & Starang) come through to do their thing and that Illa Noyz joint (Sleepers) is just plain awesome.
As far as flaws, there aren't many, but there are a couple. The album takes a nosedive toward the end and some of the songs fall under skip material in my humble opinion. Tracks like "BQE", "You Can't Fu** With Us" (is that G Funk?), and "Real Ni*** Sh**" just don't grab the ears of this listener. The rest of the album is free of blemishes
Duck Down Presents is a dope release from the BCC. I don't how this joint went unnoticed when it dropped, but '99 wasn't really a good year for real hip hop music. I recommend grabbing this joint if you come across it.
Standout Tracks: Raiders Of The Lost Arc [Jah Dan], Live The Life [Rustee Jux & Sean Price], Eye Of The Scorpion [Buckshot & Rock], Sleepers [Illa Noyz], Jump [Black Moon], World Wind Remix [Black Moon], Ultimate MC [Heltah Skeltah & Saukrates] (My Favorite), and Meditation [The Representativz]
Buck and Dru continue to do..........1999-12-15
what alot of heads out there don't want them to do. Not compromise quality with the quantity of records sold. Alot of people got it twisted, especially the media, which are usually just speaking for the large players in the industry. Man, we as fans gotta let these fools know. FIrst off don't let no one tell you Duckdown ain't making money. They handle they own biz, and run their own company. Most of these rappers can't say dat. With dat said the Duckdown presents..is just that. A lil of the label's past and a lil of the label's future. My fav's are You can't uck with us, Jump Up, and BQE. Man this album is solid. Yall go buy dat and pick up the BDI thug which is steaming. These fools can't see. Duckdown is gaining momentum and with their new distribution deal, meaning more hot product from Brooklyn. Hope they seeing money like they should. them magazines can't handle us. They dont know what the fans want cuz they aint living like us. They betta Duckdown! Been ducking down since 92 at Home Bass.
bootcamp with a tight comeback!.......1999-10-21
*** all those idiot critics who slaughtered this album with bad ratings cuz they are the people who gave crappy artists like hotboyz(blaze) and made men(the source) good ratings.this album has some mad nice songs like "jump up" by blackmoon, "ultimate mc" by saukrates and heltah skeltah", "holocaust" by cocoa b'z, "eye of the scorpio" by rock and buckshot", "you can't *** with us" by buckshot and steele, "meditation" by the repz and the "whirlwind remix" by blackmoon which was only supposed to be a b-side of the whirlwind single but was added on this album probaly to make it even better!the only reason why i didn't give this album 5 stars is because it had a few week songs on it but still is a very impressive album!
You better DUCK DOWN.......1999-10-12
Duck Down once again showes that commercial rap get the gunn clapp!!!! This compilation is bangin!! underground !! and ruff just like DUCK DOWN is. I like most of the trax, Black Moon's - Jump Up is so hardcore and Buckshots flow over the beat is just incredible. Buck is anyway one of the most dopest Emceez to hit the rap game. More highlights of "da Album", OGC's Real N***** S*** - nuff said, Buck'n'Rock (on one track together!!)- Eye of the Scorpio, the remix of Worldwind - I don't know which version is phater, originoo one or the remix, and the new Rappers show their talent, like M.S and Hairy Balls with BQE and the Ill Illa Noyz with Sleepers. And to the Blaze Magazin's review: P.U.G. - PURE UNCUT GARBAGE!!!!!!!! DUCK DOWN 4 LIFE !!!!
Duck Down!.......1999-10-10
forget all the reviewz from blaze, source and the magazine that was rap pages on this album and go listen to this album at a record store and make your own judgement on this album, because i'm starting to wonder what the hell is wrong with these critics

very forgettable.......2007-04-12
I just gave this one more try...terrible. I'll prob never listen to it again. Can't believe it was rereleased....the only way you'll like this is if you are 15 and think you are gangsta. Buck's much better in moderation, not carrying the whole show.
WHAT UP BUCK!!! GREAT JOB,PLUS A NICE WAY TO START FOR A SOLO ALBUM!.......2005-11-29
THIS IS ALREADY A MUST BUY...NOTHING BUT A CLASSIC ALBUM OF1999.
the best of the best.......2003-11-27
buckshot is one of the best rapers that i ever herd.his solo album is hot.if u dont have this then get it its a street ready album.just lay back in your ride and lisin to this lyrical genius.this album has a lot of hot beats you should get some boot camp cd's to there nice beats r hot
HUGE dissapointment...!!.......2003-06-07
As a long time and "originoo" fan of Buckshot Shorty and the Boot Camp Clik, I was a little late buying this album (June '03). But in any case, that doesn't change the quality of the music and lyrics on the album which was, in my opinion, TRASH. This is the worst album ever released from any of the B.C.C. members, and honestly one of the worst albums I have ever purchased. I have no idea what these other reviewers were talking about when they posted, because there is no way they were talking about this album (B.D.I. Thug). I love hip-hop, have been an avid listener since about '86-'87, and have purchased MANY albums in my day. But in my most sincere belief, this is a regretful one that was well worth the price , but not worth the shipping cost .
3.5 stars.......2002-04-06
Buckshot has fallen off (unfortunatelly). His 1st solo effort was slightly a disappointment to me. I really couldn't catch the entire album. The beats are all right but I can't catch the rhymes. There are some good beats but there are some weak joints too. I like Duck Down so much but I have to admit that the Entaprizez ahs fallen off. heltah "Magnum Force" was another disappointment such as OGC 2nd effort and Cocoa B'z Duck Down release. I hope Duck Down will rise again but if they continue this type of releases then they will fall really off the edge. You feel? So, Double D: RISE UP!

Buckshot showing why he is the most versitile MC today!!!.......2003-03-27
A lot of peoples perception got turned off by this album when it originally dropped in 99. Most people were expecting a Black Moon album backed by all Beatminerz production. This solo album shows a more personal side to Buckshot.
The album is solid, it got overly hated. Lyrically its on point like a dart. Buckshot spits some hot, raw lyrics, the production is very different. My favorite tracks are the Intro, Breath Control, Trapped, Boom Bye Bye, Follow Pride, Ladie N Gentlemen and Glide with Me. With production from Lord Jamal, Just Blaze, Master Beats(Buckshot, C. Ward, Boogie Brown) and Baby Paul of the Beatminerz.
This Re-release has 3 extra tracks on it:
Follow My Lead RMX (Never before available)
Use 2 Be Afraid Feat. Swan
Will we live 2 See 2morrow Feat. Swan
We all know that Follow My Lead RMX from 97 is classic track with the extra verse Buck adds to it. I wasn't expecting too much from the other 2 joints but I must say I am very impressed with "Will We see 2morrow" Buck spits hard on it and the production is very horror like/ phantom of the opera type sample but they flipp it well, since Boogie Brown is a real musician. The other track is not great to me, from the subject matter but I am sure some chicks will dig it. Pick the album up if you never purchased it before. Album got some bangers and even more bangers with the added tracks on it. You should most definetely check it!!!
