All You Need Is A Beer And A Mic (Rating; 9 out of 10- -4.5 stars).......2007-04-09
There are many bumping songs here. One of them is the title track "Likwidation", a song that really leads off the album. Unique rhyme styles really show throughout this album. "Hip Hop Drunkies" featuring the late ODB is possibly the best song on this album, espically when Ol Dirty does an impression of RZA. Bumping songs like "Aw ****" and "Captain Hook", a song about bitting rappers to get airplay really shows off their veratile skills. The song "All Night" reminds me of when a group is on stage and the audience is part of the show, and enjoying the music. I believed that is why people love Tha Alkoholiks so much.
Some other outstanding songs is "Killin' It" when extended member of the Likwit Family, Xzibit drops a nice verse. King T appears with J-Ro on the song "Funny Style" that rides with a soft sounding party beat. "Off The Wall" is another party song with Keith Murray.
Only flaws on this album is that "Feel The Real" is pretty forgettable lyric and production wise. And Phil Da Agony's verse is the only weak guest appearance on "Rockin' With The Best" I can think of in this album. Otherwise, this album is excellent. This is what I call hip hop with creativity with head nodding beats and rocking lyrics. Chances are that reveier "Moe" doesn't listen to quality hip hop, so he would knock this album. This is one of the best and probably underrated albums from the west. I recommend that you add this to your collection. Peace!

All you need is a beer and a mic (4.5 stars).......2006-02-05
Songs like Likwidation and Hip Hop Drunkies (which featues the late Ol' Dirty Bastard), and All Night will damn sure rock the party and highly proves that Tha Alkaholiks are at the high point of their career.
Then you have songs that are full of dope lyrics such as Killin' It (featuring Xzibit)and Contents Unda Pressure that proves that not only they can rock the party, but the still obtain the skills that carried over from Coast II Coast.
Then the guest appearances on this were kinda odd, because all Nas and LL Cool J talk about is what they drink at the bar. Nothing really wrong with that, it's just kinda awkward. Keith Murray helps on the song "Off The Wall." Then theres the Likwit family doing their thing (King T and The Lootpack). One hell of a CD made by this group, who were at the top of their game at the time.
Keg-stand-classic.......2005-04-08
Its just classic. This was the back-up CD for after the girls were done complaining to get us to play some Monica or Brandy, and they were finally tipsy, then this CD came on.
Great lyrical performances from the West. On this album, and all their albums, the Liks rapped like they loved to do it. They were having fun doin it. And you can hear it through the speakers. Perfect party music. Its a little dated now, but full of great samples for today's DJs/producers.
A great example of what Hip Hop is supposed to be.

The Liks bring the fun back into hip-hop..........2002-06-21
This album isn't out to change the game or become the next instant classic like an "Illmatic". But it deserves respect because its an enjoyable album to listen to anytime you pop it in you CD player.
Xzibit is a guest on "Killin' It" and he does just that. Keith Murray's verse on "Off the Wall" was a little disappointing as everyone expects more from the lyrical lexicon. "Hip Hop Drunkies" with Ol' Dirty is hilarious and definitely a high point of the album. "Captain Hook" is a very creative song as the Liks take you on a story as they search for an emcee who is biting everyone's style: from E-40's verbage, Bone's style, to WC's flow, they go on a cross-country search looking for this fake emcee as he continually keeps biting other artists. The Alkaholics are very underrated lyricists and throughout this album you'll find some extremely funny verses that these guys concoct. Check this one out if you want something new to listen to, or are just tired of how hardcore every rapper tries to be today.
