About the Artist
Landis have been making analogue pop-music since 1994. Their debut full-length effort on Fuxa's Mind Expansion label showcases their unique approach to music-making and undefinable style. Following up their acclaimed "One Fine Friend" single, Yesterday's Tomorrow Turns Out To Be No Future At All takes the listener on a journey that is but the beginning of the Landis musical saga. Drawing influence from the widest array of musical inspiration, Landis have blended their roots in the Brit-pop scene of the late 1980s with the stylings of jazz, electronica, and american indie-pop to create a unique musical sound in a state of perpetual refinement. Following the success of "One Fine Friend" and Yesterday's Tomorrow..., Landis pursued a more ambient avenue in their late 1998 collaboration with Ahimsanic, "Recreational Skills." And, in what the band says is a "glimpse of things to come," their newest single, "The Water's Electric," takes a jangly yet biting course to melodic fulfillment. Landis have proven that their musical style can't be pigeonholed, and as anticipation builds for their 1999 full-length follow-up to Yesterday's Tomorrow..., they're sure to demonsrate their versatility and ability to deliver great pop songs.
Product Description
These tracks are among the earliest. Something loose. They're wonderfully crafted four-track recordings conveying anticipation and regret. But never tentative; always passionate, hopeful, true. Aware of perpetuity and concurrence across time and space, uncertain of implications therein. Between moments, in transitions. Elements wash in, mingle, slide away. Great pop.
