An album that only a devout New York rap-radio fan could enjoy, DJ Clue's The Professional is filled with tracks by chart-topping hip-hop acts who've already been overexposed. It's not even a true DJ album: Clue doesn't mix the songs (which is probably a blessing), and there's a minimum of turntable tricks--just beats, rhymes, and redundancy. Artists like DMX, Big Pun, Noreaga, Nas, and Jay-Z practically have side careers as cameo artists, and while they--along with the rest of the usual suspects--appear here as "featured" guests, fans of their work are better off seeking out albums under their own names. While some tracks are better ("Gangsta Shit") than others ("It's On"), there are simply too many songs that fall into a New York rap aesthetic already taken to the brink of exhaustion. If that's your cup of tea, sip away. Otherwise, reach for something else. --Oliver Wang

Album Description

72 minutes on 8 tracks/ very good song diversity.

This CD provides a unique opportunity to hear the authentic sounds of humpback whales. There is no background music, only whales. Includes the special, nearly 25 minutes, "One Humpback Whale", an excellent recording of a close whale, just a few hundred yards away, originally recorded on digital audio tape, giving the whale great presence and clarity.

Recorded near the Virgin Islands from a 13 foot inflatable boat, using a professional hydrophone.

The track " One humpback Whale " is the best I've ever heard.
Nothing but Whales, No added music.

One of the best examples of Humpback Whale recordings to date. I have heard them all.
Paul Knapp has captured these songs for all the world to hear. Pure Humpback Singing.
I highly recommend this CD to everyone. Truly a treasure for any audio collection. Young and old.

Good for meditating or working in the basement. Also use it for going to sleep. Personally, don't appreciate it when driving, but HEY! Save the Whales. Collect the whole set!

4 out of 5 stars great cd.......2007-01-04

I had been looking for whale songs for a while, and finally this cd filled my expectations. It is only natural whale voices, nothing more. Some of them give me a peculiar funny feeling, like if the whale were singing a joke, or laughing. Not for everyday, but I enjoy it once in a while.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Incredible.......2006-04-09

Eric Serra is quite simply "the professional". With Leon it is evident that he is the best film composer of the 90's. No questions asked. From his brilliant, spine chilling "Noon" composition to the fantastic "A Bird In New York", this album brings out emotion from the hit film "Leon:- The Professional". I could quite possibly say that this is the best soundtrack i've ever heard, it is a film music gem and is recomended for all Erric Serra fans and Luc Besson Fans.

2 out of 5 stars Good soundtrack but not complete without the end title.......2006-02-24

The movie actually is one of my favorites & that time I watched it,at the end I heard 1 of the best end titles I'd ever heard before.
Ya "Shape of my heart" from Sting.I got the soundtracks just for this song & I saw what the hell its not in the CD!!!
3 stars for the the CD 5 stars for the song...

5 out of 5 stars I feel so compelled to give homage after this epic listening experience........2005-10-19

Here i am at my computer, listening to the Leon soundtrack for the second time today and I dare say Leon is one of the best soundtracks I've ever had the plessure to listen to. Eric Serra gives it his all and it shows. The melodies found throughout are very deep and meaningful. Leon IS my favorite movie and as a fan it was truely great when this cd arrived at my house. The 23 tracks on the disc are strictly orchestational and you wont find the song by Bjork or the final song by Sting, I suggest downloading LimeWire if you wish for those. Otherwise every little piece heard in Leon is on this cd. Highlights of mine are, Ballad for Mathilda, When Leon does his Best, and Two Ways Out. Every song is great but those ring especially true for me. If you enjoyed Luc Besson's epic film, this soundtrack is for you. Buy it, dont even hesitate. Thanks for reading and I hope you found this helpful.

4 out of 5 stars Looking for the final track?.......2005-10-11

You will hear several uses of acoustic guitar in the film & soundtrack. The final song in the movie, which isn't on the soundtrack, is Shape of my heart by Sting. The guitarist in the song is named Dominic Miller. If you were moved by his participation in either The Professional or Sting's work, Dominic Miller has put forth some impressive solo work.

5 out of 5 stars Emotional ride.......2005-01-24

This movie is really great, the relationship between the two central characters are so defined well in the soundtrack. When we first see Mathilda, the song that goes with it is perfect. And Leon's ongoing theme is present throughout the whole soundtrack, it's like you're in their world with them. This is the first non-lyrical soundtrack that I actually enjoy listening to on a regular basis, totally recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars HOLY BULL RIDIN' BLOOD RUSH!.......2006-03-05

This has got to be one of the absolute best in Rockin' Country compilations I have come across. Toby Keith kickin' the show off with "Gimme Eight Seconds." Couldn't think of a better way to do it. Wild Horses rocks with "I Will Survive." If you're expecting a country rock version of Donna Summers, you're not even close. Wild Horses comes across like a group that should've had 10 Platinum Albums and 20 #1's by now. What can be said about Eddie & "T-Roy"? Fantastic as always. Best cover I've ever heard of a Bon Jovi song. Jewel does a wonderful job of smoothing things out to give your adrenalin a bit of a break with "Til We Run Out Of Road" before the CDB comes back and kicks you right square in the butt with "Bull Ridin' Son Of A Gun." David Lee Murphy keeps the tempo up and really gets into creating a great image and telling a great story with Hangin' On. Deryl Dodd slows it down once again before Mr. "Achy Breaky Heart" himself, Bill Ray Cyrus heats things up with "Let's Go To The PBR." It's definitely a pick me up song that really gets you wanting to Go To The PBR with that same BTO style of Let It Roll Down The Highway. Jack Ingram really brings to light what runs through every cowboy as he's on his way to the PBR and once he draws his ride.

It really did surprise me there was no "Mr. Cowboy" himself on this compilation. The only thing missing on this CD was some Chris Ledoux. I feel a great added selection to this CD would've been Chris' 8 Second Ride.

If you're on your way to a rodeo, or just like some good rockin' country, this CD is a must for your collection.

5 out of 5 stars PBR Max.......2004-05-27

If you are a true PBR fan or someone who loves to get ready for bull riding or other rodeo event, this is your CD! Every song on this CD is directed toward bull riding in some way. This CD is worth ever penny. Besides listening to it when I go to bull riding, I used to use it as pump up music before a game. The PBR did a great job in selecting these quality artists and songs to be featured in their CD. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Bull Riding PUMP.......2004-03-27

I listen to this CD behind the chutes before I get on.Gimme 8 more seconds, rank bull, and Mr.Charlie Daniels really get it on. This is one RANK CD

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful compilation.......2002-08-12

That's really good music ! The track number 2 "I will survive" is great, as the 1 and the 7.
I especially love the 9 one, which is really calm and beautiful. But as in Old West, in a bull rodeo, it is some spectacular action music pieces !
Great !

5 out of 5 stars Music to get the blood going.......2002-07-05

This album is a collection of music from Toby Keith, Wild Horses and even the Charlie Daniels Band. An odd collection of songs, mostly based on bull riding and cowboy themes, that are there to get your blood going. Whether working out, just driving down the road, or needin to blow off some steam, this is worth it.

5 out of 5 stars New York Rap At Its Very Finest!.......2005-08-16

This album is blazin! Clue holds it down on almost every track. i cant even give you a top 5, so many songs are straight def. Heres a rundown.

2. Ruff Ryder Anthem(Remix) - Same Beat as the original, but a lot of new faces. They all hold there own. - 5/5

3. Its On - Another DMX blazer. loses a point for average production - 4/5

4. Fantastic Four - The best lyrical showing on the whole album, canibus tears this track to shreads. Everyone else does good too, but again the beat is to average. - 4/5

5. QueensFinest - One of my favorites for sure. Reppin his city and doing it in style. - 5/5

6. Exclusive New Sh*t - Another one of my favorites. I wish Nature got some exposer, he can rip the mic, and shows it here and even on the GTA 3 soundtrack. - 5/5

7. Gangsta Sh*t - Jay-Z and Ja Rule? Who thought of this? Clue is a genius! best calabo ever! Average beat again though. - 4/5

8. Thugged Out Sh*t - I love memphis. And he holds his own as usual. - 5/5

9. Its My Thing '99 - Old school joint with and old school crew. not my flavor - 2/5

11. Whatever You Want - Flipmode Squad rips this track! man, they got a hot crew. they all spit well, and i love this beat. - 5/5

12. Thats The Way - I dont really like mase. And this beat is too happy go lucky. - 2/5

13. I Like Control - I dont like missy too much either. And this beat straight up is bad. - 1/5

14. B*tch Be a H* - This is a pretty good song. JD rips it for all a man from the south can. R.O.C knows what hes doing, he needs some more exposer, hes a good MC. the beat is probebly the lowest point of this song. - 3/5

15. If They Want It - Also Appears on Fabolous's first album, Ghetto Fabolous. Fab does a pretty good job on this track, and the beat is pretty nice too, but definatly cant touch the good tracks on this CD. - 4/5

17. The Professional - Mobb Deep holds it down like always! they kilt it. the beat is probebly the most original production on this whole album. - 5/5

18. Brown Paper Bag Thoughts - Reakwon spits pretty hard, like all Wu members know how to do, but the beat is wack. the score is stricly for the lyrics - 3/5

19. Cops And Robbers - Lord Tariq and Muggs are very lyriclly talented. There are some nice punchlines in this song, and the beat is done very well as well. - 4/5

20. Made Men - Made Men spit pretty well, the beat is on the better side too. - 4/5

21. No Love - M.O.P puts on lyrical show as usual, but the beat is pretty bad. I can skip this track without a second thought.

22. Come On - Honestly, never even heard of Boot Camp Clik, but they seem like they work good together, the beat is the high part of this song. - 4/5

This is a very good album for the East Coast lovers. Down south look elsewhere, but west might find this album pretty good too. Many stars that know what they are doing. And the production is top notch too. Dont take my word, get the freakin album!

3 out of 5 stars It's not horrible, but not the best........2005-06-04

DJ Clue is definitely not one of the best DJ's. You have Funk Flex, Pete Rock, DJ Revolution, The Beat Junkies, and the X-ecutioners just to name a few who are ten times better than him. DJ Clue does not scratch much, which means, that he has the skill of anybody who plays a mix of music. It sounds like someone downloaded some songs, and put them all together and burned a cd. And he always has to put his name in the middle of the song, which is very annoying to me. At least yell it out before the verses start to kick in, like DJ Evil D does and it would not be annoying. I just hate those kind of interruptions in a song. Now, that alone could have given it just one star, but there are some good points. Ruff Ryders remix, with DMX, Drag On, Jadakiss, and Eve, it was great, minus Eve. They could have done without her. I don't care if Clue give's her props, the Roots gives her props, she is one of the most overrated MC's ever. I like everyone else on it, including Jadakiss, which he usually sucks too. The Fantastic 4 is the best song on here. Even Noreaga and Camron come correct, which they usually don't. Especially lines like, The President, he's like me too, don't like to F--k, but get head too, just had me rollin. Big Pun and Mr. Canibus stole the show on that one too. They got lyrics that make your head spin, and this is just another example. The beat was just tight too. Now it was nice to see Raekwon, M.O.P, Boot Camp Click, Nas, and Mobb Deep and Big Noyd on the same mix cd together. Everyone of there songs were just tight. The rest, well, they were skippable. So, this one is one that is not highly recommended, but hey, there are some good spots too it.

4 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars mixtape from Clue?.......2004-10-28

This mixtape has some nice tracks on it and is worth picking it up if mixtapes are your thing. Features mostly NY rappers and has some good production, if you can stand Cue's yelling (which thankfully ain't on here that much). The best tracks are:

#2 remix to X's classic anthemwitht the same tight ebat (DMX, Styles, Jadakiss, Drag-On, Eve)
#4 (Canibus, Big Punisher, Noreaga, Cam'ron)
#5 (Nas -- good beat)
#6 (Nature freestyle)
#7 (Jay-Z f/ Ja Rule -- tight beat)
#8 (Memphis Bleek)
#15 (alright track by Fabolous - one of his first ones)
#17 (Mobb Deep & Big Noyd)
#18 (Raekwon -- nice beat)
#21 (M.O.P)
#22 (Boot Camp Click)

4 out of 5 stars PMM, play you're cards right, and you're gonna be big!.......2004-07-13

- I kinda like feel in "love" with this group after i heard a early edited version of 'Slow' on the 'End of Days' soundtrack. I bought the CD two-three years ago and i havent gotten tired of it yet. In their debute album, Professional Murder Music (PMM) blends hard-rock/heavy metal with electronic ambience sounds & samples. This may sound like a copycat of Fear Factory (FF), but PMM manages to stay on their own shoes. And as far as I am concerned, PMM is far better than FF. PMM's debute album features tweelve (12) hard-pumping tracks. Some are brand new, whille others have been featured in motion pictures:

1: SLOW - A re-edited version from the End of Days soundtrack. Much better version this one. 4/5
2: FALL AGAIN - One of the more 'nicer' track on the CD. 4/5
3: OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN - Very very dark and haunting. 3/5
4: DOES IT DREAM - The 'nicest' song the CD have to offer. 5/5
5: DARKER - Decent. 3/5
6: THESE DAYS - Below decent. 2/5
7: SLEEP DEPRIVATION - Decent. Better than 'Darker'. 3/5
8: NIGHT LIKE THIS - Highly recomment. 4/5
9: EVERTHING IN THE WORLD - Great intro, average song. 4/5
10: DISSOLVE - Crazy electronic metal song! 5/5
11: YOUR WORLD - Angry song! Great! 5/5
12: PAINKILLER INTRODUCTION - I didnt like this. 1/5

Overall, this compilation is a great buy for anyone who enjoys metal/electronica combined styled music (or metal in general). I highly recomment this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Great !.......2004-07-06

You know those times when you get a cd, having no idea who these guys are, but then you start to listen to the songs... and you feel like "This is great!" , and then you just can't stop listening to it? Well... this is one of those! Check it out!

4 out of 5 stars From Underground to Mainstream.......2004-02-20

I heard a few demos from the band here and there and if you are into Korn, Orgy, Deadsy or other bands like it, PMM is probably for you. It's a new breath in music today where a lot of bands are out there performing music only to make themselves look good and do it for the money. PMM is in it for the music. I heard of Tom Logan and Left-Hand Grahm through Michale Graves band/CD Web of Dharma (sorry....it's not available through stores and it is hard to find online but if you find it,...get it....and yes Michale Graves was the same guy from the Misfits) and these two guys are great players. The vocals are dark, gothic and totally cool.

5 out of 5 stars A overlooked group to say the least........2004-01-31

I have been a fan of this group since day 1. Their first appearance was on the End Of Days soundtrack with the song "Slow". i liked the song however i read that they had no album yet.. so i kept a eye on them and it took over a year for anything to happen.. and that something was "Fall Again" on the Velentine soundtrack, which was another great song. Then finally they released their self titled album, which is amazing. stand outs include slow, fall again and the cover of a night like this. however the whole cd is good and unique and they also have a killer instrumental track on here. what do they sound like? while its defenitley industrial oriented, their sound is so much more. its been over 2 years now and Professional Murder Music is finally back with their new album, looking through. I am glad to see their still in business.

5 out of 5 stars great cd.......2003-10-14

this cd is so dark and deep but also melodic. If you like korn, marilyn manson, dope you should definetly check this one out. I've listened to it thousands of times and it always sounds great. Can't wait to hear 'looking through' their new cd.
PMM all the way!

5 out of 5 stars "But You Had Such Persistence, You Wore Down My Resistance . . . I Fell And It Was Swell!" .......2007-04-04

"These are but a few of the songs my mother always told me. They are my wish list. I love these songs. But they are not mine. They belong to you." ~ Kenny Rankin ~

"I've enjoyed Kenny's friendship for many, many years. His spirit is wild and tender, impulsive and romantic - and these songs have a tremendous richness and purity. We felt that by approaching them simply, we'll create room for Kenny's expression to soar. It's a pleasure to hear his heart sing." ~ Hank Cicalo ~

This CD, Kenny Rankin's "Professional Dreamer" is one great collection of beautiful songs from the Great American Songbook - thirteen of the loveliest standards for your ears only! The choice of material is simply perfect and the arrangements by the artist himself with his creative pianists, Alan Broadbent and Mike Wafford are simply outstanding and they are some of the best arrangements for these time-tested songs. Kenny Rankin gives these evergreens "fresh-as-a-daisy" interpretations with his stylish and one-of-a-kind vocal artistry.

Each song tells a story of love and romance and each is rendered in a manner so fabulous with Mr. Rankin's sincere, dedicated and heartfelt readings of the lyrics. His music has always been pleasant to listen to. How can you not love this CD when all the songs here are innate expressions of Mr. Rankin's magnificent creativity starting off with a Cole Porter gem, "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" to the final track, a very nice, meaningful and my all-time favorite song by Alan Brandt and Bob Haymes, "That's All."

It's sooo delectable listening to this CD in its entirety for every song is a winner and there's nothing to whine about. I'm very pleased with the choice of material - they are my all-time favorites. Imagine "I've Got A Crush On You" sung in the most entrancing way with Sue Raney, a singer with a glowing voice. It's one of the most beguiling versions I could think of.

"... But you had such persistence
You wore down my resistance
I fell and it was swell ...

You're my big and brave and handsome Romeo
How I won you?
I shall never, never know ...

It's not that you're attractive
But, oh, my heart grew active
When you came into view . . .

I've got a crush on you, sweetie pie
All the day and nighttime, hear me sigh
I never had the least notion
That I could fall with so much emotion."

You'll surely fall in love with this CD! So listen now . . . and have a lovely listening experience!

P.S. You may also want to check his other notable CDs out - Kenny Rankin Album, Because of You, After the Roses, Bottom Line Encore Collection, Haven't We Met? and Song for You for more enchanting listens.

5 out of 5 stars One in every crowd.......2004-02-09

Once again (see Tom Rush's "Tom Rush") I'm compelled to review an album that needs no further review. ...

I've been listening to Kenny since Like A Seed. And I've been listening to this album all weekend. It's on now (You smiled at me, baby, then the spell was cast). I've owned it since it came out.

If you enjoy jazz, vocals, good music, outstanding piano, bass, sax and a little trombone thrown in to boot, then just put this on and sit back. You are in for a real treat.

And if you happen to be a bass fan, you might just be blown away by Brian Bromberg's work on this CD -- starting with his OUTSTANDING rendering on the very first track.

And as for underrated vocal artists, how about Sue Raney, who teams with Kenny for a superb duet on I've Got A Crush On You?

Cole Porter, Ray Noble, George and Ira G., Jule Styne, Sammy Cahn, Billy Rose, Gus Kahn, Harry Warren, Mack Gordon, Oscar Levant, Alan Brandt, Bob Haymes -- they are all here and all are, I'm quite sure, quite pleased with Kenny's treatment of their work. Folks, THIS is as good as it gets.

Indeed, Kenny's own solo contribution is a welcome treat here. Beautifully poignant and beautifully done.

...

5 BIG stars for one of the best male vocalists of all time at the very top of his game.

And that's MY opinion.

Okay?

Double exclamation point !!

5 out of 5 stars An Album for the Ages.......2003-06-27

Kenny Rankin sings the jazz of rainy Sundays by an open fire.

His intimate and highly personal style is no better exemplified than on this set, "Professional Dreamer".

In many ways it's a departure from his usual repertoire as it consists entirely of classics from the 1940s and 50s.

These offerings reflect the musical values of another era - elegant and genteel songs from a time when melody lines were strong and lyrics dripped with intelligent emotion.

These compositions lend themselves perfectly to Rankinesque interpretation

The standout cut "But Not for Me" ripples with a soft Latin undercurrent.

Rankin's vocal improvisations are gentle and deliberate as they paint a soul-sad portrait of someone love has overlooked.

Gershwin's beautiful "Our Love is Here to Stay" is another highlight of this very classy set.

So too is the cheeky and whimsical "I've Got a Crush on You" and the ultra-evocative "The Very Thought of You".

It's all exquisite grist for a very tender mill.

An album for the ages - FIVE STARS for Kenny and the jazz of rainy Sundays.

5 out of 5 stars Kenny sings standards -- beautifully!.......2003-04-03

Like several other reviewers, I became a Kenny Rankin fan with Silver Morning in 1976. At that time I was more of a fan of singer/songwriters like James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. But then my tastes stared to expand into jazz with singers like Michael Franks, then Bobby McFerrin, and now Diana Krall. I developed a taste for the jazz "standards" from the tin pan alley days. So I put Kenny aside.

With the release of this album (dedictated to his mother) he took a crack at the standards. And what a crack it is. I'd give my left arm to be able to sing like Kenny. Since I can't I'm happy to plop play his CD and kick back. His is a warm voice that envelopes you. It's warm, with an incredible range, and incredibly melodic. This is music for jazz vocal fans!

5 out of 5 stars Great!.......2002-07-16

Kenny has an incredible voice. At first he did a great job with pop tunes. Then he was gone for a long while. Now he's come back, singing jazz standards. I think jazz is where his voice really shines. Thanks to Kenny's mom for turning him onto these songs.

Rick Braun acted as producer for six of the tunes on Professional Dreamer, and it adds a funkier dimension to Benoit's rich keyboards and lyrical piano solos. Funky is a direction that Benoit is clearly ready for. You hear it especially on "ReJoyce," a celebration of the groove with Benoit using a Hammond B-3 organ for some deep soul. "Miles After Dark" also stands out, with Braun adding some tasty muted trumpet to the midnight mood. Benoit's style is still in evidence, though, especially on the slow tunes and the characteristic classical touches and Latin beats. "Dad's Room" is a beautiful ballad, with rays of light breaking into the slightly somber mood. It shows just what a master of shading Benoit is. --Adam Rains

5 out of 5 stars David Benoit: A Man And His Magic.......2003-04-08

I've been a David Benoit fan for many years and the man has never disappointed me musically. This album is no exception. From the funky, urban chord vamps and comps of "Why Not"; to the sweet, melodious jazz/classic rendering of "Something You Said"; to the 'Brubeckish' styled "Gothic Jazz Dance", this album has it all. As an amatuer jazz pianist myself, I am completely enraptured with David's articulate and rich chord stylings on just about every song that I have heard him play. Professional Dreamer encompasses all of his seemingly infinite pianistic and compositional talents in this album. Even if you're not a dyed-in-the-wool fan of jazz, this CD has something for everyone. "Something You Said" has become a memorable, almost anthem-like song in my household, and I have used this beautiful composition extensively as background for many of my home video projects. Long live David Benoit.

5 out of 5 stars one of the finest.......2001-11-14

I didn't really care for the why not.song # 1, I guess thats why they called it why not, but the rest of the c-d is truely some of the best smooth jazz that I've ever heard. the piano, percussion, horns and orchestra are totaly world renound. #1 in my collection, and now all my friends have this beautiful music. It's a must have.....

5 out of 5 stars David Benoit is Back!.......2000-10-01

After a couple of releases that were just O.K. David Benoit may have just released his best collection of songs. The funk is here with songs like "Why, Not", the gorgeous ballad is here in "Golden Gate", and another one of my favotites is "Thinking Bout the Cove". I love that Fender Rhodes solo at the end of the song. Only thing is, is fades out too fast and the song itself could be longer. 7 of the 10 songs are upbeat. Rick Braun co-wrote half of the tracks, and as you probably know by this time, you can hear his trumpet on "Miles After Dark". Truly one of the finest jazz records of 1999.

5 out of 5 stars Best So Far.......2000-08-13

I have at least 7 previous CDs by David Benoit, all of them are great, but this one is the best so far. The funkier rythms are a great addition to the usual David Benoit style. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next. This would be a great addition to anyones Jazz library.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful morning music.......2000-07-30

Had never owned a David Benoit CD before, but coming back from Virginia , I heard a radio station playing this wonderful music. Checked with Amazon {couldn't even spell his name properly} and there it was. I ordered it and now I play it during breakfast at my bed and breakfast, Reapsome House. The guests love it!

Amazing music from an amazing band. Makes every evening and every event much more entertaining! Songs have a very up beat tune and a point behind the lyrics which is refreshing to hear in today's music.

5 out of 5 stars THE SIREN SIX! are amazing!.......1999-04-27

Young And Professional is some of The Six's best stuff. A Voice With a Built in Promise was an amazing album as well. This cd is short but sweet. And my favorite song is "Back is Breaking". The Siren Six! are begining to change their style to match their favorite band, The Pixies, but I love their new stuff as well.

2 out of 5 stars Not as good as their debut.......2004-07-27

Not nearly as musically interesting as their debut, self-titled, disc. On Looking Through, the tracks seem to blend together with no amazing standout tracks. I suppose you can give them props for not trying to hard to produce a single, but it feels like they didn't try to hard to produce any truly great songs.

If you're new to PMM, get their self-titled disc. Looking Through is mostly for the hardcore fans who are mostly interested in supporting a band who showed tremendous potential with their first album.

5 out of 5 stars PMM pull through on their own with another stellar release........2004-04-02

After the lack of promotion and effort put behind Professional Murder Music's long-delayed debut in 2001 (at least on the record label's part), PMM and Geffen records went their seperate ways, and a little over two years later, the band returns, just as strong as ever, with their second album, self-produced and self-released. Is the album good? The band hasn't missed a beat. Picking up where the first album left off, the band has taken it's own brand of industrial neo-metal to the next level. 'Looking Through' hits the ground running with the magnificent opener "Something New," which to me, is the highlight and defines the album. Roman's vocals soar over this disc just as powerfully as before; he has one of the most distinct voices in rock today. Tommy Lee makes a guest appearance on "Disconnect" (thankfully, he is behind the drum-set and not the mic) and Jason Miller of Godhead adds his vocals to "Don't Stop." The remix of "Something New," done by Buzz McCoy is pretty interesting and almost matches the intensity of the original. Just like Orgy's more recent self-release (one worth checking out if you dig this disc) this album is a mere nine tracks deep (excluding the remix) but gets the job done quickly and efficiently. Without the help of a major label, PMM seem to be doing just fine. Let's hope they survive and keep on making albums just as good as this and their debut. If you can find it, grab it.

5 out of 5 stars Welcome back.......2004-01-31

Professional Murder Music proved they still had what it took. This CD while short, is really amazing. Individual song reviews would be...

01. Something New (5/5)
02. Don't Stop (3/5) [bland compared to other songs on here]
03. As It's Fading (5/5)
04. Disconnect (4/5) [hardest song on the album]
05. Start Again (3/5) [another bland song]
06. Clear (5/5)
07. All Lost Things (5/5) [fantasic instrumental]
08. Staring (3/5)
09. Endless (5/5)
10. Something New (Remix) (5/5) [almost better then original]

Professional Murder Music is defenitley an underrated band.. But i think i prefer it this way, as opposed to constant radio play that tends to ruin great songs. Keep checking their website (www.murdermusic.com) for their new acoustic album their releasing that will be a internet exclusive.

5 out of 5 stars A great comeback.......2004-01-28

Professional Murder Music really came through with this album. After waiting for PMM to release a new album for what seemed to be a decade, I can't say I'm dissapointed. Looking Through is really great. This time around they released on their own lable, Wormhole Records. Although Looking Through is a bit lighter than the self-titled album, it retains the classic PMM sound. It opens with the excellent 'Something New' and doesn't let down. The heavy riffs and keyboards haven't left, and neither has the raw talent of the band. Vocalist Roman Marisak still sounds great. There are only two minor complaints I have about Looking Through:

The Album is too short. With only 10 tracks(one instrumental, one remix) it runs at a short 40 minutes. Thankfully it's good enough to play over and over

Although it has nothing to do with the music, Looking Through has the blandest packaging I have ever seen. The CD is plain black with band and album name. The leaflet has one band photo, the lyrics and credits and white on plain black.

This album is short, but very sweet. I hope to see PMM in concert in February.

5 out of 5 stars This is far better than the self-titled.......2003-12-09

PMM sounds soo much better now.. The cd does only have like 10 songs and one is a remix, but still, those other nine songs are well worth it.. They did the right thing by switchin labels.. They still have their same ideal industrial sound, but something is different.. This cd was well worth the money and the wait..

Though it's based on the 1978 X-rated movie of the same name, Debbie Does Dallas may be one of the most wholesome pieces of entertainment to ever hit Off Broadway. Played by Sherie Rene Scott (Aida), the title character has to do unsavory things in order to raise money and travel to Dallas, where she'll fulfill her destiny as a Texas Cowgirl cheerleader. But as "Where I Need to Go (Debbie's Theme)" makes clear (it's influenced by "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic), this musical actually fits comfortably in the mainstream, emphasizing such classic American values as following your dream and using a bloated ballad to get there. But "Where I Need to Go" is one of only a few songs on this cast recording. The CD is more akin to a book on tape, relying heavily on the play's dialogues to fill the track listing. It might be fun to listen to it on a long cross-country drive, but in the comfort of your home, the appeal fades somewhat. If you're looking for songs that explore the world of adult entertainment, the soundtrack to Bruce Kimmel's 1976 movie, The First Nudie Musical, remains the one to top. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

5 out of 5 stars Help.......2003-11-22

I am looking for the sheet music for debbie does dallas, does anybody know where i can find it?

5 out of 5 stars This is utterly Precious!.......2003-05-25

I bought this because I enjoy Sherie Renee Scott's performances in "Aida" and "The Last Five Years." This is one of the funniest recordings I've heard. Don't be mislead, I think this could hardly be considered a musical, aside from the few songs that are actually sung, I would think of it more as a play with music - and the occasional sung song. This is part of the charm, however. The cliche cheerleaders and football players are hillarious to listen to. Be advised, it is based on a porn movie, so there is a lot of things that could make it uncomfortable to listen to in mixed company, but it's humor and naive charm, make it worth while.

3 out of 5 stars Not many songs but still funny........2003-03-23

Majority of the songs have no actual substance, but besides the few gorgeous melodies Sherie Rene Scott sings with such oomph, this cd is jampacked with dirty jokes and nothing but. ...

5 out of 5 stars A Rolling Ride - Tongue in Cheek - Visual INTENDED!!!.......2003-01-30

This recording is fantastic. I've a collection of over 300 Theatre Cast Albums. And this, by far, is very original. Definitly not something for children, while not explicit, the references to sexual acts are pretty thinly veiled.
There are a total of maybe 4 actual songs on here. But, the spoken word is fantastic, and the visuals you create with your mind are even more amusing.
The girls, which are totally believable as a group of not too bright, but sexually charges adolescents speak in a group voice, with a Valley accent, that's just too funny. You can't help but laugh.
And the men, which are never the focus in the type of movie this is based on, come through as unimportant bystanders that just help to move the action along, but still show some small glimmers of personality that make you laugh at the genre of adult movies.
All in all, this CD is a humurous romp through the sexual discovery of an 18 year old girl pursuing her dreams. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys hearing something new, different, and that will certainly make you SMILE, if not LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!

5 out of 5 stars Very Funny and totally original.......2003-01-16

I saw the show and loved it but I couldn't imagine how they were going to turn it into a CD because there isn't enough music to make a full CD. So what they did was to create a very very funny comedy album full of scenes, songs, sex and karaoke (if you can believe it) The CD is 74 minutes and is a complete listening experience. There is also a surprise bonus track called The orgasm medley that has to be heard to be believed. It is hilarious. The songs are better on the CD than in the show. They have a South Park feel to them and they are very funny. Sherie Rene Scott has one of my favorite voices anywhere and she gets the opportunity to show off all she can do and she does it great. I would reccomend anyone getting this CD if you want to giggle and blush and have a really great time. Oh, and the artwork has a centerfold of Sherie as Debbie it is worth the price of the CD (if you know what I mean)
