5 out of 5 stars This is great!!!.......2007-03-13

All the songs are great on this!!!! I would defintely recommend this to people!!!!! I think this is a awesome greatest hits!!! I have all Limp Bizkit's CDs and would recommend them to anyone who likes metal (yes nu-metal is metal) and anyone who just likes having fun, because honestly there are not that many bands out there that are fun like these guys!!! 1 question for all the people who hate this band, why if you hate Limp bizkit so much would you take the time to review their CDs? People call Limp Bizkit fans idiots, but I think its a lot of Limp Bizkit haters who are idiots, who can't have a little fun! I don't think even think a lot of them hate Limp Bizkit, they just don't want to be "uncool" and like Limp Bizkit. Don't listen to people's stupid biased opinions, buy Limp Bizkit CDs!!

3 out of 5 stars The new songs suck.......2007-02-15

Was Fred Durst a great lyricist and vocalist? Nope. Was Wes Borland an innovative guitar player? Not even close. But for fifteen minutes sometime in the 90's, we were all picking up what they we're putting down, and we loved every minute of it. There are only one or two good songs on each Limp Bizkit album anyway, so now you can have them all on one disc. The new songs suck.

1 out of 5 stars Them bizkit'z aren't the only thing thats limp.......2007-02-10

This band sucks. Always did, always will. Fred Durst and Vanilla ice have a lot in common, if you know what I mean. And spelling hits with a z instead of an s shows just how phoney these retards are. Listen to this for laughs or to induce vomiting. Depending on what affects you're after.

1 out of 5 stars IMITATION METAL 0/5 stars.......2006-12-28

Im just glad this imitational metal fad band is finished fred lived the lavish life for several years and now most of us exfans went our separate ways and found are true taste in real metal. Why did fred released a greatist hits cd? they were never any good and spelling hits improperly with a Z at the end is just stupid childish and laughable. Not only is this cd a pathetic worthless joke but fred had added songs that didn't even belong to him on his own greatist hits album which he should be adding only his own songs that he wrote not other peoples songs. now thats just saying he's taking credit for other peoples songs and he's greedy for money.

3 out of 5 stars Sure all the singles are on here--but many are EDITS.......2006-11-12

If you are a casual fan of Limp Bizkit and were just hoping to have all the big singles that used to be on TRL and stuff on one disc, this CD comes as a disappointment. At least HALF the songs on here are significantly shorter than on the actual CDs they come from, starting with the first big huge tracks, Counterfeit, Faith and Nookie, which, if you look on itunes, are each listed as the "greatest hits" versions, which I assume means edits so that they could fit more songs on one disc. Too bad. This could have been a convenient way to get all the complete versions of theirs songs on one disc so you wouldn't have to buy each individual CD.

    4 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2007-04-07

I remember when I 1st got this cd a loooooong time ago. I was upset how I thought it sucked, I really didn't care for it besides like three tracks. One day...well night I had nothing to do so I took my iPod and got the lyrics out and just listen to the whole cd through while reading the lyrics. That I think just helped me made me understand the album even more then when I 1st listen to it and just skimed the lyrics a few times and just listening to it whileplaying video games, reading, or whatever. This is a great solid cd. If your a fan of heavy metal then you really need to check out this cd. I highly recomend getting this cd.

    3 out of 5 stars Some Sympathy.......2006-09-22

As an album it's very repettitive kinda punkish metal, but also compared to Use Once and Destroy it's even worse. I was skeptical when Phil made a new band, but with the release of Use Once and Destroy I had no need to worry until now. I really don't think this band'll go anywhere compared to Down and Pantera. I love Phil as a metal vocalist and hey with these guys he sounds even heavier, but everything's just to basic.

    5 out of 5 stars Good stuff........2006-02-15

    1,2,1,2,3,4.
This CD is my favorite Sesame Street recording. Phil Anselmo counts off songs like he's Count Dragula.
    Never mind that.
This album is the greatest thing to come out of New Orleans since exposing yourself in public.
I give this CD 5 stars, but who's counting.

    4 out of 5 stars Good hardcore.......2006-02-09

Many music fans are quick to dismiss Phil Anselmo's side projects because they hastened Pantera's break-up. But once you really give Superjoint Ritual a shot, and realize that this band's sound is quite different from Phil's other bands (like Pantera), you will probably come to enjoy "A Lethal Dose of American Hatred" quite a bit. This is a good hardcore album; it's full of meaty, Sabbath-y, doom-y riffs, pounding drums, and howling vocals. Several of these tracks (i.e. the blistering and ultra-heavy "Permanently") crush anything on "St. Anger," and are easily among the best metal songs of 2003. Songs like "Dress Like A Target" and "Stealing A Page Or Two From Armed & Radical Pagans" (catchy title!) feature lurching riffs which sound tailor-made for headbanging, thumping drums, and Phil's constipated grunting. Other highlights include the heavy, grooving guitars and strangulated howl on the album opener, "Sickness," the almost buzzsaw riffs on "Personal Insult," and "Never To Sit Or Stand Again" (which has a few really long, tortured yells and a pounding rhythm). The album, as a whole, is too short, and many of the songs begin the same way (with Phil counting "One, two, three..."), but all in all, it's a very solid release. And if you're craving a dose of Phil, and you don't yet own this album...what are you waiting for?!

1 out of 5 stars Are you kidding me.......2005-09-22

I read these reviews first then I listened. In no way can I take seriously a discussion of musical style or lyric content concerning this disc. Vocal quality ... there is no quality no talent needed to produce that gutteral nonsensical sound. Musicianship, none is present here. Lyric ... simplistic deluded are the only words to describe.

Paul Gilbert and Co., on their debute album. Razor sharp GTR riffs,
pounding drums and good bass licks, is what you're in for on this CD.
Racer X's is a great band. They have very little air play, and didn't
      have enough exposure.
If you're a fan of 80's metal and all things guitar, this is one that
      should be in your collection.

do you like electrical guitar. well, then you can't ignore listening to this album. this is one of the most awesome guitarist performances I've ever heard. Paul Gilbert is a golden boy borned to play the guitar. don't worry about hearing something silly and stupid, because this is really good stuff you'll be hearing. thank you Paul for being alive!

4 out of 5 stars amazing 80s real heavy metal!.......2006-03-26

HAIR-POP-''POSER''METAL OR WHATEVER, RULES THE GAME DURING THIS ERA BUT PAUL GILBERT AND THE BOYS ARE READY TO STRIKE WITH THIS AMAZING METAL RELEASE, WHICH FOR ME IS AS GOOD AS ''SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE''OF JUDAS PRIEST!
AFTER ALL I REALLY BELIEVE THAT RACER X AND RELEASES LIKE ''STREET LETHAL''WAS A ''KISS OF LIFE'' FOR HEAVY METAL, ESPECIALLY IN THE STATES WHERE LIPSTICK AND MAKEUP DURING 80S WERE A ''DISEASE'' FOR THE ICON OF HEAVY ROCK IN GENERAL.
SO FRIENDS ALL OVER THE WORLD DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND BYE THIS CD OR BETTER BYE IT WITH THE SECOND RELEASE OF RACER X WHICH IS REALLY AS AMAZING AS THE FIRST.
e.g I DONT GIVE 5 STARS ONLY BECAUSE I PREFER ENGLISH METAL IN GENERAL BUT THAT'S MY PROBLEM MAN...SO BYE IT!!!

5 out of 5 stars Genesis of Racer X.......2004-11-18

If your a fan of 80's music, or a fan of great guitar work in general, you will LOVE this album. Not only does Paul Gilbert demonstrate his superb guitar work, it also shows the power of the other band members as well. This is the Genesis album of Racer X, and is in itself an awesome demonstration of Rock and Roll. Gilberts terrifying guitar licks and the intense drums, bass and vocals will blow you away! If your an aspiring musician, you will enjoy Pauls guitar wizardry on this album. Also purchase Second Heat for more intense action.

DONT MISS OUT! BUY THIS TODAY!

5 out of 5 stars An overdose I can deal with.......2006-12-05

Ice Cube continues the conscious music/gangsta rap path on this 4th album Lethal Injection. Let's see how many gems we can pull out of this one. Standout Tracks: REALLY DOE, GHETTO BIRD, YOU KNOW HOW WE DO IT(original and remix are cool with me), CAVEB***H(RIP Khalled Abdul Mohammed), WHAT CAN I DO(original and remixes), LIL A** GEE(the eerie gumbo mix is my s***), WHEN I GET TO HEAVEN(Funny but truthful). Filler: Make it ruff, make it smooth(weak plus K-dee's verses were kind of corny) and Enemy(this song sounds like it was put together on the spot). Bottom Line: Lethal Injection is not a garbage album like these crackpots want you to believe. The production was westcoast tight and Ice Cube's lyrics are sharp and to the point. Songs like What Can I Do, Lil A** Gee, When I get to heaven and Cavebitch still ring true to this day. Definetly collection material here.

      4 out of 5 stars Really Dope........2006-02-06

I have to admit, I listened to this album constantly when it came out. It's what I think of as Ice Cube's g-funk album. I say that because I think this was his answer to "The Chronic" and "Doggystyle". A few tracks I don't care for much, but the better ones make it worth owning. "Really Doe" and "Ghetto Bird" are both great, and "You Know How We Do It" is a cruising classic. "Bop Gun" is a sweet party track, because of it's length, and the fact that George Clinton is on it. I also dig the groovy "Make It Rough, Make It Smooth", "Down For Whatever", and "When I Get To Heaven". All on the mellow side. As for the bonus tracks, I don't think they're half as good as the bonus tracks on "The Predator", but with the remastering I'll take 'em. This is also another Cube disc that's heavy on the pro-black/anti-white thing, fyi. Still though, a must for bigger fans, others can probably stick with the "Hits".

4 out of 5 stars Ice Cube Hittin You With Some P Funk Rhymes For The Nine-Tre (4 star).......2006-01-19

Ice Cube's 4th full album Lethal Injection would produce more great results comming off his most commercial LP (back in the early 90's) The Preditor. Compared to albums such as Amerikka's Most Wanted/Kill At Will and Death Certificate, a more older Ice Cube would come on this album with less gang related topics and less pro-black rhyme structure. Hooking up with a producer named q d III most parts throughout the album come off sucessful, and at the same time, more laid back (I guess Cube's production skills wern't in full swing yet back in '93). "Really Doe", "Cave B***h" (despite how racial you think that song is), "Lil A** Gee" would be the only few songs that will take you back to the early days of Ice Cube. The latter would be a song on the effect on little kids getting caught up in gangbanging. "Ghetto Bird" is an ode to those high speed chases that often occur in Los Angeles. The soft atmosphere occurs on most tracks as songs like "You Know How We Do It", "Make It Ruff, Make It Smooth" and "When I Get To Heaven" would play off well, but at the same time, might have left old Cube fans scratching their heads ("Down For Whatever" couldn't have been any slower). Despite the eleven minute long song "Bop Gun", that will make you nod your head to the uplifting p funk tune of George Clinton's (who ironically appears on this track) "One Nation Under A Groove".

If you purchased this after 2003, you would get four extra tracks (mostly taken from his Bootlegs & B Sides album) of remixes of the hits. ATCQ's Ali Shaheed Muhummad would remix "What Can i Do" with a beat that doesn't sound like Cube would be confortable with but pulls it off anyway. Cube himself would remix "You Know How We Do It" making it sound better than the origonal.

Overall, this album is solid release from Cube that I enjoyed at most parts. No he doesn't carry the same tone as he did back in his NWA days, but hits us with something more relaxing. People say that this is Cube's worst album that he released between 1990 and 1993, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad album (personally I believe The Preditor was his worst), and has been sucessful in many points, reading that it was his second most selling album behind The Preditor. This one I recommend picking up, it carries its weight for the majority.

      5 out of 5 stars underrated.......2006-01-01

Ice Cube comes back with this darker sound after the predator. a lot of people don't feel this album, i think because it is so much darker and crazier. the sound is still funky, and personnally i really dig it, some of ice cube's best work on here (see song two "really doe").
      all in all, highly recommended

4 out of 5 stars under-rated, way better than Predator.......2005-11-13

This ones under-rated and didnt get as much attention as The Predator. It stomps PRedator and was a comeback album of the year back in 95 for cube. Probably the best beats of any Cube album and his lyrics are still on point. Not as innovative or original as classics like Amerikka and Death Certificate, but satisfying nonetheless. Ghetto Bird is a west coast classic, with an off the hook beat. Cube is not as insightful as on earlier albums but still the bigot you love to hate, flinging hatred towards inter-racial daters, christians, and fully supporting radical black power movements as always. This would be his last tight album. Lethal Injection, although not Cube's best work, is still better than 90% of the garbage rappers drop today.

4 out of 5 stars A great idea, but incomplete.......2000-10-26

Erich Kunzel plays the Bond themes? What a great idea! In addition, there are a few more selections in the same vein, like the cops-n-robbers TV medley, music from The Untouchables, Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, etc.

Sometimes, you want to listen to the 007 music in instrumental only, and Kunzel and the Cincinatti Pops do a good job with the arrangements. But where are the rest of the songs? Missing are three of my all-time favorites, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds Are Forever, and Moonraker. I think the album would be better with 'more Bond, less other.' We certainly don't need TWO selections from Dick Tracy. And the theme from Darkman is stylistically quite similar to Dick Tracy; nothing is gained by playing both. Don't get me wrong; I like Danny Elfman (check out his "Beetlejuice" theme on Kunzel's 'Great Fantasy Adventure Album'). I just wanted to hear all my fave Bond pieces on the one CD.

      Still, it's a keeper.

"The Drowning Man Knows His God" is a song title that immediately lets you in on just what kind of nouveau surf band the Mermen are: a strange, mysterious one best approached with caution. Guitarist Jim Thomas picks up the gauntlet thrown down by thrash master Dick Dale, in turn tossing it into realms of overamped sound generally occupied only by the likes of Neil Young, Sonic Youth, and Glenn Branca. On A Glorious Lethal Euphoria, Thomas eschews the feel-good for excursions into riff wreckage ("Pulpin' Line") and lengthy wavescapes that crash over the living room ("Obsession for Men"). Add a wry nod to the Gilligan's Island theme on "The Intractable Boy" and a passage from Brahms's Third Symphony, and you've got one that not even Brian Wilson would have thought up. --Rickey Wright

5 out of 5 stars Love at first riff.......2006-03-13

My first encounter with The Mermen came from my boyfriend's collection. I immediately fell in love with the first song and knew I would appreciate the complexities of the all-instrumental, surf-rock music. The guitar riffs and the strong, meaty drumming consistently evolved into another emotion; which is what music is all about.

      5 out of 5 stars don't be a chump, just buy it.......2005-09-16

there is no excuse for anyone who likes the sound of guitar not to own and cherish this ablum. i HATE guitar players and the crap that comes out of their guitars most of the time. i am IN AWE of the sounds that flows from Jim's bright red strat. this is purely amazing work. one of the BEST ALBUMS I've EVER HEARD. it hurts to listen to this sometimes... it's just that good. amazing drumming bass and guitar. the tones in this album rock you to sleep then tear your eyes out. DYNAMIC. thank you for such a wonderful album, mermen. THANK YOU!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Beyond amazing. To listen to this album is to reach euphoria.......2002-10-23

I cannot possibly describe how much I love this album. Every emotion we harbor... this album gets to them all. The tones are euphoric, the melodys are enthralling... it's the perfect CD. Any true music lover should love this CD.

      5 out of 5 stars brilliant.......2002-01-05

While at first I didn't really think this sounded like a surf album (when I think surf I think Dick Dale), and I still really don't think so though with the amount of reverb on the guitar I guess one could say so - its still hypnotic in its appeal. If it is surf , it transcends the genre. The bassist for the band is to be quite blunt, amazing. The album's full of really crazy songscapes that are soothing and sublime and drenched in reverb and melody. If you like music get this album. It's the only thing from a rock band that I can still bear to listen to.

      5 out of 5 stars Very Challenging--near death-like in its intensity.......2001-06-21

The 1st time I listened to this CD--I frankly did not know what to think. I was a fan of previous releases, Krill Slippin' and Food For Other Fish--but this was quite a departure, melodically, rhythmically, texturally, thematically, and I had to get my mind around the fact that this band had morphed into something else again. There is no question that this music is ecstatic, it reminds me very much of a close encounter with death--like being rolled under a 100 foot wave for 4 minutes while trying to hold your breath. But it requires some faith and commitment on the part of the listener, to open the mind and surrender ones expectations--if you can do that, perhaps you will discover that the Mermen have redefined everything we previously thought of as psychedelic music. Surfing, in this context, is a metaphor for something more than riding waves of water--this is more like riding the waves of the electromagnetic spectrum.

4 out of 5 stars Nothing unique but still worthy of purchase.......2007-07-18

This band should entice fans of old Queensryche, Lizzy Borden and Iron Maiden to go and get this release by Lethal. It is straight ahead melodic power metal. Nothing fancy or edge of your seat musical diversity, but still catchy and heavy at the same time. The track, Obscure the Sky, is one of my faves. The singer is an almost clone of Queensryche's Geoff Tate and a little of singer Lizzy Borden. Throw in some guitar riffs of Iron Maiden and there you have it.

      ***** - FIVE STARS
      ===================

First off, I've only heard this once. It's without question a 5 star effort. If you like old-school Heavy Metal, with Maiden / Queensryche / or Fates Warning influences, you'll absolutely love Lethal's "Programmed"...

These guys are not a clone band either. They play very convincingly, and although there are many early-era Queensryche influences here, they've managed to make it their own sound very well in my opinion. They're simply too impressive to be considered a clone band....

I've always been a huge Queensryche fan, and like every other headbanger from the 80's, I loved "Operation Mindcrime". I must say that Conception's "Programmed" is the next best thing in my book. The resemblance is remarkable, and the power that Conception displays here will take you right back to the golden days of true Heavy Metal....

      This is a MUST PURCHACE!!!!

      UP THE IRONS!!!

5 out of 5 stars "Stealing the rain from your thunder".......2004-04-27

I picked up this CD from a used bargain bin and found the veritable diamond in the rough. From the first track to the last, I was floored. Amazing guitar, songwriting with plenty of depth, and a singer whose voice is off the Richter! Tom Mallicoat sounds as identical to Queensryche's Geoff Tate as one can imagine. In fact, his voice may be slightly more powerful if such a thing is possible. The music is also very Queensryche. Every track here is stellar! The 6:16 "Another Day" may be the standout track as it combines the beauty of the metal ballad with the explosive power of metal, but there is nothing weak here. I can't say enough about this album. Anyone who likes metal with substance whether it be Queensryche, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Metal Church and other such bands will never regret purchasing Lethal's Programmed.

4 out of 5 stars Progressive Metal Played With Deadly Precision.......2002-08-10

Many people, upon first listen, would shriek "'Ryche clones" afterwards. I would agree to a point. Programmed does have tha Rage For Order/The Warning-era sound to it, but it does more: it improves upon it.

Lethal side-steps a manhole that many progressive metal bands fall into. They don't try to make a Gordian Knot out of sound. Yes there are displays of technical derring-do a plenty, but what is kept to the forefront on Programmed is the sense of song. There is no mere clinic to be found here. What you will find is a prog metal album for those who couldn't care less about prog metal. This is power chord mathematics for the layman.

Programmed is definitely more immediate than Lethal's later record Poison Seed, but lacks Poison Seed's warmth and quieter, more introspective moments. Both albums take you to the same rewarding destination by traveling different roads.

Programmed isn't the perfect prog metal release as its technology still leaves me with a slight chill, but yet it redeems itself via the Tate-proud vocals of Tom Malicoat, which cry out from within the circuitry like a human soul trapped inside an android. The title track to me is the record's biggest triumph, and is where Malicoat really makes his presence known. On "Programmed" he and the rest of Lethal deliver a melodic and moving assault on behalf of humankind by using the machine's own weapons against itself.

I'm not at sixes and sevens over Programmed, although I was far from disappointed either. While I didn't find a a rare gem, fool's gold this wasn't.

4 out of 5 stars If you love early Queensryche..........2001-12-06

then this is a MUST for you.
At the same time Queensryche was doing Empire, Lethal decided to rekindle the feel of Queensryche ep/Warning era. Unfornately Lethal never progressed to their breakthrough album but their 2nd album Poison Seed years later starts with a grunge like ( AIC ) sound but good production and catchy lyrics will make you continue to listen through the album. If you like Tom Mallicoat's voice you'll want to pick Poison Seed up too.

The 4 star is only because of the lack of production sound, but since it seems they were looking for a 1985 sound in 1990.

Note: rated against using Rage for Order < 5 stars > as the standard of Queensryche sound alike/sytle bands.

3 out of 5 stars Good find for 80s hair metal lovers.......2007-05-06

Well crafted and incredibly produced if somewhat goofy melodic metal. Think Europe with a harder edge. "Jump the Gun", "Young Blood" and "Savage Heart" are about as good as any of the MTV Headbangers Ball hits from the lates 80s, except this album was not widely released until 1990 at the end of the metal era. Ronnie Atkins vocals on many of these songs are among the best ever in metal, and worth buying this CD for that alone.

4 out of 5 stars Underrated Melodic Metal.......2006-10-03

I've noticed that the terms "underrated" or "should have been huge" get tossed around quite a bit, especially referring to hard rock bands from the 1980's and early 1990's. I firmly believe that these terms apply to Pretty Maids more than any other band. This Danish band's style of powerful and melodic heavy metal should have made them a household name in the 80's, or at the very least a major player in the metal scene. Why they never caught when similar, albeit lighter, bands like White Lion and Dokken (who I also love) were achieving wide success is a mystery. Perhaps the band name was too wimpy for the average metal fan? I imagine this has hurt Pink Cream 69 (another killer melodic metal band that Pretty Maids fans should LOVE, by the way) in a similar fashion.

Whatever the reason, Pretty Maids never quite caught on like they should have, especially given the quality of their albums. Case in point is 1990's Lethal Heroes, which was also called Jump the Gun in some markets. Heavier than the average hair metal album, and more melodic than most traditional or power metal albums, Lethal Heroes struck the perfect balance between power and melody, and had much in common with that era's releases by bands like Crimson Glory, Fifth Angel, Leatherwolf, and even some of the Tony Martin Black Sabbath albums. Lethal Heroes has everything I look for in a melodic metal album - great guitar hooks and solos, powerful vocals, well-written songs, and keyboards that are used as an accent rather than a crutch. It even boasts Deep Purple alumni Roger Glover and Ian Paice as backup musicians!

This really is a fantastic album and one that belongs in every 80's metal fan's collection. If, like me, you missed this one back in the day, it's time to correct that oversight. You won't be disappointed!

4 out of 5 stars 80's heavy metal at its finest........2003-02-21

horrible name, most excellent album. not many know about this record, and its a low down dirty shame. Rockers: Title track, Rock the House, Young Blood, Jump the Gun, Savage Heart. A definite must-have if you find yourself NOT getting off on "Slippery when Wet" time and time again. the music these mofos make is so powerful it makes jon bon jovi look like edie brickell. ROCKS.
