Good bang for your buck!.......2001-07-30

This box set is a must for anyone starting out on a collection of piano music. As the title says, it is famous piano music. But it does not just end with the classics like Fur Elise. Indeed, there is a lot of lesser known yet still powerful piano music included in this collection. I must confess, many of the composers were unfamiliar to me, but now that I know that they made such beautiful music, high time for me(or you)to check them out. Again, anyone starting out with limited funds should check this collection out. Dont let the affordable price fool you; these are quality recordings, including two CD's of just Chopin and Debussy. One does not have to spend a fortune to hear excellent piano music.

Great for lovers of piano music!!.......2001-07-03

I'm a dancer and I have a lot of classical music, especially in the piano genre, but this CD is one of the best in my collection. I listen to it all the time. It has a lot of classics- Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin etc., so it would probably appeal to maybe more casual listeners or people who just love listening to great piano music. This CD has inspired me to start piano lessons, it's that good! I recommend it to everyone.

A Great Collections.......2000-07-02

Let me first explain a few quick things. Unforunately, Naxos makes it slightly confusing, by releasing ten CDs under the title "Romantic Piano Favorites" (Volume 1-10) and also two box sets (each containing 5 of the 10 CDs) labelled Volume 1 and 2. So be carefull what you buy. I advise you to get the box sets, because they're very inexpensive.

Also Naxos should not have calles the collection "Romantic Piano Favorites," since the piano pieces are not all from the Romantic Era (although some are) and they're not romantic in nature (some are dark, others just dance pieces). Rather this collection should be called "Piano Favorites."

Also just because it's an inexpensive Box Set, it doesn't mean the quality is mediocre. In fact, it's great. It was well recorded and the pianists are very talented.

Box set Vol. 1 contains so many great pieces that I wouldn't be able to list them all. Instead I advise you to see the track listings and hear them by looking up the single CDs rather than the box set. But really this is a great collection, I advise you to buy it!
